Today was my first visit to New Image Nail spa, as I followed my nail technician, Stephanie from another nail salon whom I have been going to for the last 15 years. Upon arriving to the salon I was greeted by another friendly and familiar face, Lena! It felt like being in a new home with familiar people. It was also nice getting to see Jenny, whom I also remembered from the nail salon I used to go to. She was doing a manicure for another client two seats down from me and remembered me, greeting me warmly. Everyone made me feel welcome. The salon feels very cozy and is well appointed, clean and comfortable. They also have a nice selection of polish, with many colors to choose from. I got a gel manicure and gel pedicure and really enjoyed my experience. My nail technician Stephanie always does such a fabulous job, and I was happy to follow her here from her previous salon (afterall, she has been doing my nails for the last 15 years). I can also attest that Lena's work is fabulous as well, as she's done gel manicures for me in the past. The is place is a hit or miss. Definitely a miss if you get the guy. His name is Tom. I've gone to him several times and he just doesn't have good listening skills or I think he's just not interested in what people actually want. He was rough on the hand massage. My hands were sore and faintly bruised and during the massage I said to lighten up a little bit he didn't pay attention. He seems bored and uninterested. The manicure was over in 20 mins which was a bit of a rush. The women are much more attentive and listen when you ask them for something. He has tried to get me to spend more money before by upgrading my pedicures and then had attitude after I said no. It's too much stress to deal with this kind of a person when you just need a service like this. read more

I used to go to New Image Nail Spa a few years ago and used to be pretty impressed with their service, but went for the first time in a while again recently recently ahead of my trip to Mexico to get dip nails with a small extension and am pretty disappointed with the lack of quality I received. I had my nails for less than a week and 3 of them had already broken off and the remainder already has cracks in them. Two of the ones that did break off ripped my actual nail off and made them bleed which was pretty painful. Please keep in mind I haven't been doing any physical labor that would cause them to break or crack, so it makes no sense that this would happen when these should be lasting for 3+ weeks. SO GOOD!!! I moved to LA 3 years ago & have refused to get my nails done here. I always got them when I went back home to Texas but today I gave in. I had a ride or die nail salon back home so I was terrified to try a new place. I always get SNS dip powder on my natural nails & this place killed it!! I called the place this morning (felt bad calling on valentine's day as I figured they'd be really busy) & I'm lucky I live 5 minutes away they were able to fit me in their very busy day! I had a full set of SNS on my nails already but they removed them perfectly and helped me pick a new color & I could not have asked for a better experience! When I called they originally said the SNS removal, new set & manicure would be $55 total but when i got there she looked at my nails & decided I didn't need the extra $10 manicure. Not sure what that would have entailed as she trimmed my nails & filed them, maybe work on my cuticles (though mine didn't need any work, maybe that's why she said i didn't need it) & maybe a massage (but I didn't need that haha)! My total ended up being $45 & I added $5 tip!! I believe it was Jenny that did my nails!! She was incredible, did a very thorough job! I'm used to paying $38 at my nail place in Austin, TX so the $45 in LA felt like a good price! Especially since I had no complaints! & it was completely painless! When I was looking at places around Toluca Lake & Burbank I had seen reviews from other places saying they were in pain so if you are worried about that I'd say this is a good place!! The place was clean, very relaxing & a great spot next to pricilla's, definitely stop in & get a drink & snack, very cute place!! I stopped in here, because I really needed a pedicure and they were close by. It worked out to my advantage because I totally found my new place. I met Sandy (which is the name of my former nail tech). The place is clean and intimate and their massage chairs are great! Sandy really took her time and did a really nice job on my feet and toes. I also liked how they displayed their nail colors (in books) VS. the ring of nails with nail colors. I will definitely go back for my next pedicure and I also want to try them with my nails. The last place I was going to ruined my nails after going there several times. So, I had to wait for them to grow out and I'm also there. Very accommodating staff! Called for a group of 4 for mani/pedis. They were able to take us in at 6:15 since we all had work, which the latest any nail place was able to offer since gel takes longer, so we were appreciative they were able to take us in at that time. Once we got there, 4 people were able to service each of us. They were all very nice and patient. They have a good selection of colors for gel and regular polish, and also offer SNS dip. The place is nice clean and the staff is very nice. This was my first time trying this place and was hoping it would be my new spot but unfortunately I didn't love the work. I asked to get a gel manicure and the lady that did it for me was very sweet but the job was not great and definitely not worth $50 and the lady took about 2 hours to finish so the fact the the job wasn't even done nicely was even more disappointing in the end. The color is like spotting? Which I've never had happen and it's also chipping only after 1 day. The nails are bumpy/ wavy and with little holes. This is my second time coming to New Image and honestly I'm so torn. The difference in skill level of the nail technicians is very apparent. The first time, I had a great experience and a pretty gel color was selected for me. After this trip it's apparent that if you get a good nail tech, then 5 stars, if you get a less skilled one, maybe 2 or 3 stars. The skill level matters to much because: 1) I was cut multiple times or my cuticle was filed down to low, I have pain in two of my fingers, and one has a scab, which means it bled at some point. 2) she couldn't get the shape right, so a different nail tech stepped in to do the shaping (thank you!) 3) skill of the actual polishing- the pink gel nail came out streaky, and the gel top coat on the glitter nails was uneven (she missed the sides) so I had to ask her to fix it. To her credit she did, but I always am worried about being rude and having to ask them to do things again. I think I will give this place another shot, but ask next time for someone who knows how to do the nails with attention to detail, or you will have to be the one paying close attention. read more

I am not someone who complains often but this nail salon is one to avoid. First of all the owner started to do my nails and then she got a phone call from her bank. She talked about personal things and I do not feel that is an appropriate conversation to have in front of a client. She quoted me a price of $45 and then an extra $20 for nail color. She was sloppy and rushed and made the tips too short , way shorter than I wanted. When I asked her if she was going to do my cuticles which is something I need because I bite them. She said it was an extra $10. That is crazy as it is always included as part of the manicure Then another client walked in who apparently had an appointment and she left me for 20 min to work on her. I actually walked out of the salon with only the tips as I did not want to invest any more money as she was doing a horrible job and she was very unprofessional. That salon is overpriced, unprofessional and does sloppy work. If I could give this salon and it's owner a zero I would. I walked across the street to another salon and the woman who worked on me there was lovely and did an amazing job for cheaper and my nails now look great. read more

I wish the guy listen to what I asked for rather than rushing and being so money hungry. I was questioning if they thought I was a paying customer or not due to my ethnicity, and being in Burbank. The lady on my toes was amazing. There was two women when one of them didn't know what to do she asked the other lady and she helped. Then the other lady came back and paint my toes. She did AMAZING! It's not my toes that I have a problem with. It's my nails.. I kept asking him if he knew how to do it as well as I showed him a photo and I voiced my complaints about the shape yet he said no because you'll lose the length. It wasn't the length I was worried about losing it was that he wasn't doing the shape correct and wouldn't listen to what I was saying. I feel like he didn't want to file them down so that the price would be what it was... but either way I was paying... I just wish it wasn't a waste of money.. because i shaped & painted them on my own anyways. I believe they should hire me to help with shaping & painting. #Nailtech in training. I know they are long and they probably haven't had anyone come in for this. But either way shaping a nail is important & is ideal. I also did not like how I was charged for them to cut my cuticles. I could've sworn that was included at mini other nail shops, as well as nail techs. is simple courtesy when doing the nails. Why wouldn't you push back the cuticle and apply right away?? I'll probably be back for my toes, but definitely not my nails. As far as the setting, it looks beautiful inside and they have peaceful music.
