Affordable Roofing & Masonry was responsive to my request, but their quote of $4395 was extremely…read morehigh. I was initially impressed with Martin's knowledge and demeanor, but disappointed with the final results. The chimney looked worse from the ground. Damaged bricks were noticeable and when I questioned Martin about using the worn out bricks I was told I received what he quoted and the work was guaranteed for 15-years against leaks. Martin pointed out a second chimney had a lose crown that needed to be cemented in place and it could be done for $500. I had subsequently received a quote from another mason for $4200 to repair both chimney's including 24 courses of new brick. I had the second mason work on the second chimney and remove the chimney crown using 2 courses of new brick with a new 4" thick latex modified concrete cap with an 1 1/2" overhang. Damaged flu's that were cracked were replaced and a new rain cap was installed. When I asked about the chimney Affordable Roofing & Masonry had worked on I was told the bricks should be replaced to the roof line or removed and the roof repaired. Affordable Roofing & Masonry did not offer these options. I didn't know anything about chimney repair at the time and had difficulty finding a mason to do the work. I liked the responsiveness of Affordable Roofing & Masonry, but I would never use them again.

The cost of the project was very reasonable. The project manager was easy to work with and did follow up visits or calls. He stayed with the project throughout. I would highly recommend Creative Masonry company. Thank you, we love it.

What a way for management to respond to a complaint. There was never a point where other services…read morewere discussed as an option, as I would have taken that route IF he had taken the time to come out and physically look at the home and what truly needed to be done if that was the case. Your service technician as soon as I explained the problem *this is what the majority of this 15 minute call was about* he went straight to excavating and said any other way would not fix it. Pricing was mentioned right after the problem was discussed. As I mentioned in my original review at no point did i never had an issue with pricing, the service technician REFUSED to come and view my property and the issues prior to giving me any form of quote to make sure what he was suggesting for repair was what was actually needed. THIS is why I rated this company what I did in the original review as well as why we chose to go elsewhere for a price that was higher but at least they came and viewed the damage first before making an assessment. I would also wonder how an assessment of my call was done with your technician when he called me from a cell phone and no one ever stated a call was recorded.

It was apparent he was in serious pain and I'm sure this affected his mood. We tried to take this into account in our negotiations and working relationship for this project. While we wish him a speedy and complete recovery, we are sorry to have hired him. That being said, don't hire Dane White and Perfect Curb - it will be more trouble than it's worth. Dane isn't cheap, he isn't respectful and he doesn't take adequate pride in or responsibility for his work. Your excitement and anticipation will be eclipsed by stress, difficult negotiations and disrespect - with no more than average results. He didn't seem at all concerned about, or motivated by, the possibility of a negative review. So here's mine. We hired Perfect Curb to widen our brick path and re-do our asphalt driveway with crushed stone. We wanted the same contractor to do both, so the brick and crushed stone surfaces would meet and integrate smoothly. I was extremely excited about this project and really looked forward to the end result. Communication with Dane, though good at first - was difficult from the time we signed the contract. Though we had met with him a year earlier and assured him we would be working with him and sent our deposit and contract in soon after we received it, he claimed we took too long and immediately scheduled other jobs before ours, delaying the start of our job by several weeks. Our job was finally started over six weeks after its initial start date. When asked what specific stone he planned to use, he replied slowly - and vaguely - sending us on several long trips to stone yards, one of which was to look at the very type of stone we'd specifically asked him not to use. Getting answers to these basic questions was like pulling teeth and did not inspire confidence. When Dane finally began the job, he was clearly in a rush and refused to pause his heavy equipment for any discussion, creating a mind-numbingly noisy atmosphere of confusion and pressure. He miscalculated the design of the driveway and couldn't figure out how to solve the issue of brick meeting the crushed stone - the main reason he was hired. When my husband made a suggestion, he snapped at him - but ultimately used his suggested solution. Far from being gracious, he had a truculent attitude - insisting my husband agree to pay extra if we didn't like the outcome. Unbelievably, Dane blamed his driveway miscalculation on me - he argued with me, insulted me and then never apologized. He took no responsibility at all for what was clearly an unacceptable and poorly planned installation. He added the wrong type of stone to the area of the driveway he corrected. When asked to address this, he put a thin layer of the existing driveway trap rock over the top of it to hide the mistake. It revealed itself on closer inspection after Dane had already received payment in full for the job. We had to stop payment on our check in order to get him to come back and correct this mistake, along with another incomplete installation of the brick under the porch steps. While we now have what we believe is a decent installation, it will take a long time to feel good about it as the process was filled with poor communication, bad attitude, rushed work, lack of pride in the work and a lot of nickel and dime-ing.
