I was serious this time about getting clean. Was trying to take advantage of any and all my resources to be able to do that. I got great insurance through my job and was trying to get into new hope. What they don't tell you is that there is an admission fee of $1600 that is over and above what they charge your insurance for. I told them I didn't have 1600 dollars just lying around and I don't know any other addict in Modesto that can afford that on their own. But if you don't have the 1600, you can't get into new hope they told me. What good is having good insurance if you can't come up with the 1600 blood money they want, making it almost impossible to get in and it stopped me from being able to accomplish what I had set out to do. New hope is close to my house so is where I felt would be good for me to get into. But like I had asked them at the time, is anyone even in new hope? And did they get charged this 1600 fee? Cause it doesn't state it on their website at all. And I was begging them please I took out two weeks vacation time from my job to be able to do this and there was nothing they could do for me. Even with great medical insurance. Didn't matter. It took me over a year to acquire that many hours of vacation time. I started crying my eyes out thinking can I ever get off these drugs that unfortunately I was dumb enough to get addicted to. New Hope makes it seem like they will help, but only if the price is right. This is my experience with New Hope. I hope your experiences are better than mine. I went on the visitation and I think the staff was excellent and being able to participate in a group meeting with them was also excellent, and the place was extremely clean and I was advised the food and services and accommodations were excellent. The best thing I can say to everybody is just pick a day at a time. I think the quality of career is excellent. read more

Saw a broom handle holding the door closed and had to ring the doorbell at least 5 times. Finally a girl in scrubs came to the door and said they don't do late night admits. Since I had already called Teresa and asked about their detox policy and she stated they do this now, I felt the girl was lying. I lived there for 30 days. They Do Late night admits. I wasn't going to beg, I'm in need, not a bad person. Told her Thank you for letting me drive away while drunk. I never entered the facility and walked away while flipping off the bitch. read more

I write this review as a parent who's 21-year old recently attended this program. It started off as a blessing and my son felt like there was a chance for change and really liked the program. We were told he would be able to be there for 30 days. Then less than 2 weeks later, just as he was making progress and not even close to being recovered nor ready to return home, my son was told he was being released bc his insurance wouldn't pay for it any longer (we have excellent insurance, and I could've paid out of pocket if needed but that option was never given). His counselor was Shelby and my son said she was not helpful at all, meanwhile he saw other counselors really engage with their clients. She also never got him a psychologist like we were told at intake, and when I inquired about it she just said he never asked. She blamed the insurance for his release, but it turns out the insurance company made a decision based on what she told them. Long story short, my son felt rejected and was devastated. It took so much for me to convince him to try this program and trust the process, only to have the rug pulled right from under him. Within a week he relapsed, and when I called to get him back into New Hope there was zero response and zero support. This program, and Shelby in particular, failed my son and left him worse than when he started. I'm glad the program has worked for others. Sadly it just caused more problems for my child. I understand his choices are his own. But if I knew they were going to retraumatize him, I wouldn't have sent him there. Now he doesn't trust any program, especially that one. read more

New Hope was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I was extremely nervous about going, since I'd never done any inpatient treatment before... the counselors and staff were amazing. I always felt like they had gone above and beyond to help and support me. There was a lot of great classes, both on recovery and self improvement. I left feeling stronger and more confident in myself than ever before. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in need of recovery treatment. This place was infested with bugs. Very little food. Not a place you want to be, Not set up for opiates. I almost died there. They said I would receive methadone. I found out this too is a lie. I left in 3 days. Go to Stanislaus Recovery Service for quality care. read more

I'm going to be as honest and fair about this place as possible. The good: the staff with exception of a couple are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Most of the residents are friendly too. They have a good program for some people. The bad: the food isn't that good, it's pretty much you get what they are serving, tough luck if you have allergies, dietary restrictions, or are just picky. They will also serve food from 3 or 4 days ago during leftover days. If you are determined to get contraband into the facility it's not that hard, one guy was caught using the first couple days I was there. Don't expect the staff to spend much time with you 1 on 1 or to teach you anything. The whole time I was there I only had 1 on 1 with the staff during my initial intake. You basically spend all day either doing writing assignments and going to group sessions. If you don't feel like talking about your problems in front of 20 other people, too bad, they will stop group sessions until you open up in front of them. I don't recommend going during the summer and warmer weather because they are too cheap to run the AC, even when everyone is complaining that it's too hot in there. My recommendations: Better food More food options More 1 on 1 between counselors and patients Stop being stingy with the AC Be more careful about contraband read more

The New Hope Recovery facility was & continues to be an absolutely necessary foundation for my recovery. I am appalled that their program was reemptorily shut down by the state due to bureaucratic issues that were inadequately addressed by governmental officials. Nationwide research on the efficacy of recovery systems rates New Hope as being in the TOP 5. I have lived with physical pain since age 27. It was unresolved chronic debilitating pain that drove me to use alcohol and other substances. I had given up on medical facilities. I was a repeat relapse who did not want to use. Life was demoralizingly bleak. I felt hopeless & helpless. Just did not want to live in the pain - which I thought was intractable. New Hope taught me how to develop hope again, to "live life on life's terms's, and to learn how to restructure my perception of pain. I am still in daily chronic pain; I AM STILL IN RECOVERY. I have a Life now, Hope now, and I now know how to obtain the help I need from the medical community! I am immensely grateful to the New Hope Recovery facility. To close down a recovery center for minor discrepancies in procedures & record keeping - which did NOT result in any mental, emotional or physical injuries - is a crime in my opinion. New Hope's stellar record of low recidivism speaks for the success of its programs. DROP THE BUREAUCRATIC CHARGES THAT ARE PREVENTING THE RECOVERY OF MANY SICK PEOPLE! read more

Horrible!!!! The staff and director were HORRIBLE! My insurance only paid for 3 days so guess what? On the fourth day the Director stormed into my room with a nasty attitude and told me I could leave or they were going to have me committed on a 72 hour hold at a psychiatric facility. She said I was self destructive because I suffer from debilitating anxiety and couldn't eat. I was not a threat to myself or anyone else. I told her I would try and eat and she said no! She lied to my fiancé and told him she offered for me to stay. LIE! The only caring person was Melissa and the nurses that handed out medication. My "case worker" if you can call her that and her nasty mean cruel assistant were horrid. All they want is the money from your insurance. Basically it's just doing the 12 steps and being made to feel terrible. The food is disgusting, I tried to eat breakfast one morning and threw up. Nothing healthy to eat. I had huge cockroaches in my room. It's loud 24/7. My bedding was dirty and the blanket was covered with long black hair. They actually let patients blast hard hard rock while cleaning, it wasn't just playing, it was blasting!!! The facility is one long hallway with nothing separating the men's part from the women's part. Men are just on one side of the hallway and women the other side. I never felt safe. I only felt cared about with Melissa. Thank God for her. Do not go to this place or send any loved one there. The staff is callused, cold and talk about you loud enough you can hear. I heard the assistant talking about me through the wall! I was kicked out onto the street. It was either that or 72 hour hold. For having anxiety?!! Wow. They are not equipped to deal with any sort of mental heath issue. Not sensitive to it and don't care. I was in the street with no ID, no ATM card and $20 in quarters. I live two hours away and they couldn't have cared less. They didn't give me the medication to go when I left. They didn't care if I died in the street. Sorry to rant but the facility is terrible. They lied to my fiancé. Told him things that were just not true to try and make it sound like I was the problem and they were trying to help me. LIES!!!! I will never ever forgive those mean hateful people. I was at such a low place and they kicked me while I was down. The snarls and dirty looks were unnecessary too. They act nice when you check in and once your loved ones are gone the fake phony face drops off and you're treated like nothing. You can do 12 step for free. You don't need to get ripped off to attend meetings. That's all that place is. 12 steps and no treatment. Don't pay them to hold you hostage until your insurance runs out, because you will get kicked to the curb. I drove 2 hours to go there and it was such a waste. What a crock! This place is a joke..if you have any other option, please take it. You or your loved one deserves to regain happiness & become productive in all areas of life, and I don't think this will begin here. Unfortunately the staff here (not all) are rude & was talking negatively about my loved one to me, who is in treatment there. I was also lied to about the work they have done with my LO as well. There is ethical guidelines SUD counselors need to follow, and these are not being met here. These days treatment is supossed to be client centered and treatment set around the individuals wants and needs for their life...not an old school way of thinking, the "COOKIE-CUTTER" 28 day method, all for 1& ONE for ALL. This way works for some here & there, but this is an ever changing field & treatment is constantly evolving & treatmemt centers need to catch up or stay with the new ever changing ways...and I deffinatley do not get that from here. The staff was loud, aggressive and in my face, all while lying about the information I was requesting! Turns out I was actually right in this situation!...the work hadn't been done. There are rules, ethics & laws that are not being followed so add that to list of reasons why they were shut down mid 2019, not to mention screwing up on handing out meds & not being up to code!
