It's not an easy decision to put your parent into a home, so I wanted to make sure I found the perfect one. Valley Comfort was it. The care and attention my parent is getting puts my mind at ease, as I know my parent is in the best hands possible receiving the best care. My parent seems happy, so I am too. Another big thing that made me choose Valley Comfort is the staff. Nick is awesome, when he took me on the tour of the facility, what really stood out is that he knew everyone's name. It showed me that they really take the time to get to know each person. And for the rest of the staff, they are all so friendly and extremely helpful. It makes it feel really family oriented. I know it's not an easy decision to put a parent or a loved one into a home. But Valley Comfort has put my mind at ease and I'm glad I have been able to count on them.

From med overdoses/missed meds to altercations that left my dad with skin tears, fractured finger and substantial health issues (that had been resolved BEFORE he arrived), the list goes on. If you try to get involved, as a RN daughter, they will tell their staff to avoid and not give you any information, even if you are on the list of approved persons to give information to. They were afraid of their actions enough to call the state, concerned that I may turn them in. We brought him home with hired help and he is healthy and happier.

After 5 hours into his care, staff began calling me stating they could not handle my husband because he kept trying to get out of the facility. From that day forward, I received 3 to 4 calls a week, complaining. The manager then contacted me 10 days into his stay that they would waive the 30-day cancellation notice. I had no where to take my husband, I'm 77 years old, need surgery which I had been putting off as I had no one to help me with my husband. I told them I would pick him up and when I was having a difficult time getting him home, I was told by the Director that I would be charged $35 an hour. So they basically kicked my husband out of their facility. They lied when they told me they had qualified staff to handle him wanting to get out of their facility. I had to rush over to bring him home as I could not pay $35 an hour for each hour he was there. They have refused to return my refund quickly, which is over $6000. They said it would take 3 to 3 in a half weeks to return funds. They cashed my $10,500 check within minutes of admitting my husband but now are dragging their feet to refund funds. I found a place to place my husband but I have no money so I am dealing with my husband all alone and I cannot do it. I cannot even make him cereal as I have a dislocated shoulder. All I need is my refund to place my husband in a home. I saw an old lady lying across a bench with her shoe off in a disarranged position. When I told Kim, the manager, she said "oh" and called out to staff to come and help this lady, so their quality care clearly is not good. They never told me it would take this long to receive refund if they kicked out my husband. This facility only wants to take care of Gravy patients. They cannot handle difficult or confused residents.

I came to Main West after spending 3 weeks in the hospital. The staff were kind and attentive. I…read morewasn't in the best place mentally being depressed and being in a lot of pain. I appreciated the CNA's and nurses coming in to check on me constantly. I was able to get door dash when the food wasn't edible and the visiting hours were great. Pro's: Definitely the nurses. I had extremely sensitive issues and they did a wonderful job taking care of them. The place was constantly being cleaned and the cleaning staff was also nice and thoughtful. Con's: The biggest issue I ran into the 3 weeks I was there was a lack of English speaking and understanding by the CNA's. There were times I had to point to things or just give up and say no because they couldn't comprehend basic English. I even asked them to get another person to help me a few times. The next con has to be the food. At times it wasn't edible no matter how hungry I was. With antibiotics wrecking my stomach as it was and there being a gap of 14 hours between dinner and breakfast the next morning I had to get a Walmart order of snacks and drinks to make up for the terrible meals. Sometimes the food was descent but the portion wasn't enough for a 10 year old. Other times the combinations made no sense, I brought receipts (see the pictures). Yes I went hard on the food with the hope that they will do something about it for future clients. I showed one of those pictures to my case worker and I asked her to just try the food for herself and she would know my pain :) All that being said I am now home and on my way to a full healthy recovery and much of that is thanks to Main West. This place was relatively close to home, easily accessible for my family and friends to visit and they have helped give me my life back. Aside from the communication issues and food I would recommend this place to anyone in need of great caring nurses and overall attentive staff. Thank you to everyone at West Main. My interactions with the staff were productive and pleasant as they were helpful when answering questions. While there, my grandmother felt well taken care of by her nurse staff. They even cheered her up when she was home sick, which means a lot to her family. Upon her discharge, her social worker was really helpful in providing resources and contact information. She just wanted to get here have me sign papers and leave she didn't even stay here to help me. I would not recommend this home health care company. I had a bad experience with them.

What helped me make my decision was when I talked to actual residents. They love living at Bethel - and several mentioned how everyone feels like family - from the staff to the other residents. One particular resident shared with me that she actually had no living family left, and that Bethel was her family. That was very comforting to know that Bethel gives its residents more than just a place to live, but a loving home.

Unfortunately I have had a great deal of experience dealing with assisted living and skilled…read morenursing facilities and have found most of them to be criminally understaffed. Almost every place I have dealt with had patients lined up in the hallways, totally unattended - I guess as long as they're out of their rooms, It could be marked up as some level of care. It's hard to fault the caregivers because their hours are horrible and the working conditions are truly awful - but there are never administrators around to take your anger out on. I am happy to say that none of these conditions appear to exist at Astoria - quite the opposite in fact. This is the only place I have ever been to where the administrators are always around, they treat their residents and families like their own. I have never encountered so many wonderful, caring, genuinely kind people as those who work at Astoria. My mother-in-law has been a resident at the Oakdale facility since April 2024. She doesn't want to be there, she wants to be in her own home but unfortunately her condition does not allow her that luxury anymore. Every time I visit her, the staff greet us cheerfully, they respond to her needs within a few minutes, and they go out of their way to treat her with respect.
