I worked here and…read moretechnically still employed here but I hurt myself pulling up a patient and was placed on light duty and because I didn't do a worker comp claim the chose not to put me on light duty. Instead they told me I can't go back on the schedule until I'm released from light duty but I have a pinch nerve on my spine so I'm not gonna be released no time soon, cold part about it I use to worked doubles all the time and I did 1on1 which is light duty. Crazy then another thing last year when my mother was dying I asked for fmla so I could spend every moment I had with my mom they didn't have the papers in the facility and I was told my job was in jeopardy for missing to many days. So the last week my mom was on earth I had to come to work instead of spending all the time I could with her.Another thing I was in the hospital a few months but and the Scheduler Kim Nally call saying am I coming to work and I asked her what do you want to do roll my 2ivs over there and work.Kim will look out for you only if you pick up shifts when she has nobody to come in but if you don't jump for her expect to get called off the next week.Laura the adon is lazy I don't understand how she's still employed there and they just promoted her. You give her a complaint and she say ok she will do something about it and don't do a damn thang. I remember once I told her a patient wanted to talk to her and she walked right past his room turned her head and keep going never to go in and see what the patient need. None of the higher up care about the patients.We work with limited supplies half the time the patients don't even have briefs they pass the out like Rations.Colleen the dsd by far is so confused at everything she does and she loses important paper work. Highly unprofessional. The kitchen staff is horrible and the kitchen staff supervisor is rude. They will send the patients food out with no condiments and when you go and ask them for some it's like world war 3 to get it. Like cmon now the patients should be able to get what they ask for they pay to live there.More than half the nurses and lazy and ignore the patients you'll tell them a patient is in pain and they'll literally sit at the nurses station and won't move. On top of that I have a feeling they are racist they had a black admin and let her go now they have admin they come in for a few weeks then it's a new one. The old admission lady felt we was been forced outta her job and quit and she's black.Theres like 3 other black ppl been mistreated including myself.Thats just something for you to think about when choosing the hellhole.Worst part able it is when state comes the fake like everything is in order helping pass trays going into patients rooms acting concerned,but as soon as they leave everything is back to regular program. Like what a joke.I personally wouldn't even allow the dog to stay here. They have 1star rating which it needs to be a -0 And another thing there was a well qualified nurse that applied for the dsd position but instead of giving her the position they gave it to Laura a person that doesn't do shit. Makes you wonder. Another overly qualified Rn which is excellent by the way applied for the adon but instead of giving it to him they hired a new person .When this Rn is the best. He does rn work cna work admission work adon work and any other work that needs to be done.He actually cares about the patients and is trying to make this facility better. What needs to be done is all the higher up need to be fired and they need to bring a whole new team in the there that actually works and care about their patients and maybe then this facility would have a fighting chance.

There was a CNA there which was rough and rude to my mother and we requested that this lady not be able to go in her room and they said ok they understand but the next day she was in the room being rough again and had never stopped going in. The administration and social services needs help they don't do their jobs at all. There are a few really good CNAs and nurses there but the therapist did nothing for my mom and that's what she was there for. They would work on her arms which she needed to get up and walk. I'm sorry I wouldn't bring anyone who I loved to this place I think state needs to come in and check them out and speak to people who have been there or are still there. Plus I think they need to know how to communicate with all the departments. Oh and my mom had an ice machine that she was supposed to have going all the time every time we went in there was no ice in it and they didn't know how to work it and all you have to do is put ice and a little water isn't hard at all.

Food service aims to please the most finicky resident(s). The Victory Bistro staff and operation is outstanding (the chocolate cookies are to die for). The monthly brunches, monthly birthday celebrations, weekly Happy Hours are always well planned and outstanding. Not only in food and service excellent but decorations by the Activities Group are over the top in creativity. We have free transportation to appointments, shopping and even to visit nearby relatives. The Housekeeping and Facilities staff do their upmost to insure our comfort at all times. Our 24/7 receptionists are extremely pleasant and always helpful. We are blessed to live in such a place. I wish I had moved here sooner.

They said it was OK, but the max cost based on income was at most like $900/ mo for a one bedroom. Based on the shabby exterior of the building, I though that was quite pricey for crappy Modesto. It was likely more expensive than owning a simple condo or small house in the area, after you paid off the mortgage. Anyway, since our likely retirement pension would be right between poor & modest, it would be likely that we would have to pay $900/mo. This did not sound any cheaper than other apartments in the area. It is sad that you are encourage to save in 401k & such and then you get penalized for saving "too much" when you get old.... they do not factor in the ridiculous rise in healthcare costs for which you need a huge amount in savings...or the eventual near bankruptcy of Social Security Very Sad indeed....only the very rich can afford to retire with comfort & security in this country... Even people who worked their whole career saving lives & helping mankind...(.and paying tons of taxes to support prisoners, deadbeats, drug addicts, etc..) do not get a break. Ugh!

This organization is older, simple in design, and retains a home-like (yet more medical because it…read morehas nursing care) feeling. I have visited many times as I have had extended family in Modesto under their care. My knowledge of the place spans over 10 years of visiting. Therefore, I believe my opinion is valuable to the reader. This is what I have learned: 1) The staff stays here. There have been only maybe 3 executive directors in over 50 years! Their turnover of the nursing staff seems much less than at other corporate places that charge more. I know this because I work in the industry. And, have had my parents in places in the Bay Area that although beautiful in design does not have the same staff from month to month, year to year. The value of Casa de Modesto is their staff retention is good. And, your relative will have time to get to know the people, to become friends with the staff, to interact like family. 2) It is very expensive to move the family from independent living to assisted care and then to nursing care. What Casa offers unlike many senior facilities (and I am told is the only facility in Stanislaus County like this) is consistency------that if your relative changes need and requires more help they can stay in the same facility and not be moved out. Each time a person moves from facility to facility a new down payments and start-up costs are expected and charged. The payor is levied with thousands of dollars of costs to keep the rented room while the relative is say hospitalized for a month, then when coming back needs more care than was given in assisted care. And, needs nursing. So for a period, the family is paying the cost of the rented room and the cost of the hospital and the cost of the rest of the month ( extra days). If this makes any sense.. suffice it to say, if you must move a relative from one facility to another the cost is great. AT CASA DE MODESTO they work with you to save money, time, and hassles when your relative has changing needs. My uncle stayed 25 years and moved from independent to assisted living to nursing ( where he died under hospice care). The friends he made lived near him until their life ended. This meant he had a COMMUNITY for 1/4 of his life and when he left he left his HOME. This gave our family peace of mind and saved our family considerable money. 3) The costs of living in a senior care facility vary. Normally the non-profits have slightly lower rental and care fees than the corporate facilities. At Casa, as I stated above, the overall fees are more reasonable for a middle-class person, and the long term cost is less because the resident can stay in one facility and move between the care levels. When you make your choice, look at this issue because it is real. If you move your relative to an assisted care and there is NO nursing care you must close down the apartment, pay fees for leaving and then start up again paying entrance fees for the new facility. It's much easier to move to a place like CASA for the long term situation. 4) The food is ok, cafeteria-style, nutrition correct for special food needs but does not have a chef who changes meal plans. This is the only complaint that my relative(s) had. They wish they served fresher food, more diverse food types like Mexican, Italian, Thai. Its pretty much an American meal plan of meat and potatoes. And, not fresh but canned and packaged foods. What I have learned by having many elders in my family at facilities, is that FOOD is always a complaint. The only places that have great food are those corporates that charge double and triple a month to 10K. And, even in those places, people complain. Its just fact, as we get older we get even pickier about what we eat. That said, this facility needs to look at menu planning and make changes to its supply chain and start serving a better menu.

Patricia's behavior does not reflect those standards. In my opinion, she is simply not the right fit for a community that is responsible for the care, comfort, and well-being of seniors. Leadership in senior living requires compassion, professionalism, respect, and the ability to communicate appropriately with residents, families, and employees.
