It's 6 hours a day of education, great food, beds are very comfortable and the property doesn't make you feel confined. You can keep your cell and laptop, just not turned on in classes. You are set up with aftercare so you have a sustainable plan moving forward along with the tools to succeed where most don't. With over 40% of our nation addicted to some sort of substance and 60% of our country prescribed an Anxiety or Depression R/X, you don't need to feel bad about getting help. Scientists have proven addiction to alcohol is a destructive disease & there is treatment that can set you up for your new life. If it was Diabetes, or Cancer, you would get help immediately. Addiction is no different and doesn't care how old you are, the color of your skin, nor does it matter if you are a Doctor or Lawyer. I am surrounded by people of all sorts and you won't want to leave after 4 weeks, the path forward is clear by then but this will be something you have to work on for the rest of your life. From the moment I walked in, the entire team was incredibly professional, compassionate, and efficient. Medical procedures like these can understandably cause some anxiety, but the nurses and doctors went out of their way to make me feel comfortable, clearly explaining every step of the process. The procedures themselves were seamless and completely painless, and the post-op care was fantastic. It is clear that this team truly cares about veterans and provides top-tier medical care. Thank you to the outstanding GI staff at the Austin VA! Now as we all know as veterans VA Health Care is by far not perfect, but through the years since I have been utilizing the VA Health Care system for all my health care needs for service connection, I have seen an improvement. I have run into a few rude staff members and the ones I have reported, I have seen the VA take accountability more serious then previous years. At this location people are friendly, helpful, providing clear concise communication and the wait times are by far minimum. I will definitely recommend this clinic to my fellow veterans.

And to be honest i hated every second of it but i was addict and didn't know my ass from my elbow. I was just a lost 18 year old stuck in Texas. But looking back this place taught me more lessons than the 18 years before that. It taught me how to take care of the person next to me whilst still working to better myself, taught me that life has fun things to do when your sober. From being alone to with 12 other guys. Our son completed the in-patient 90 day program at Spearhead a month ago and is now at their sober living facility. I could not be more pleases with the program and the attention he received at Spearhead. I am a moderately critical individual and was very impressed with their competency, thoroughness and dedication to doing their very best to help each person achieve sobriety. They work to give each person the tools to manage their future struggles with addiction and become independent healthy young men. The treatment format is partly a peer group situation. Spearhead so effectively uses the strength of group influence to achieve personal accountability and understanding of addictive behaviors. The staff definitely took time to understand and work with my son individually based on his traits and personality. My particular appreciation goes to Cory, his main counselor. During the monthly weekend visits to Spearhead, a good amount of time is dedicated to educating the loved-one of the afflicted on the necessary skills and actions going forward to help the total family unit achieve long term recovery. The meaning of the phrase "long term family recovery' may not be clear but a family who fully takes advantage of this experience will certainly understand after going through the program. Spearhead provides very helpful information for all involved in the quest to successful defeat the grip of addiction. It is a total package. The families we have become acquainted with through our association with Spearhead, are also quite complimentary. Some have been at this for years, involved with a number of programs and rate Spearhead the best. Overall I am very pleased and appreciative that we found Spearhead, after looking at several other programs. Addiction is a tricky and cruel animal. I have no allusion that the future will be easy going forward for my son and our family. Whatever the future may hold, I know the people at Spearhead have done their very best to help my son overcome his addictions. I will be forever grateful. I highly recommend Spearhead Lodge if you are looking for a very solid addiction treatment program.

12/30/2021- My father was transferred here after contracting covid 19 to quarantine. He arrived on…read morea Thursday afternoon. It wasn't until 18 hours later that I was able to get in touch with him. The staff never gave him his personal cell phone, nor did they answer their phones at the facility. Trying to get in touch with anyone there was impossible after MANY MANY attempts. When I did talk to someone I was told "everyone was off due to the holiday". It wasn't until receiving a text the following Monday 1/3/2022 asking to sign admission paperwork for the transfer, I did actually speak to someone for longer than 1 minute. At that time I asked for a update and strongly voice my frustrations. My reply in text was enough to actually receive a phone call from someone. At that time is where I voiced my concerns about the lack of administration, communication, and it being impossible to reach anyone there. Heaven forbid there be an emergency on my end, or on his. I'm almost certain I wouldn't be able to get through, or even receive a call if something happened to him. I will say after voicing my concerns things got slightly better. But that was still after multiple attempts. Today my dad returned back to his initial facility. Upon his arrival the nurses, and wound care did a full evaluation, and documentation on my dad. He has bruising all over both arms (possibly due to blood work, yet he has a picc line), a fungal infection under his arm pits, and groin area, they noticed what looked to be bed sores on his back, bottom, and heels of his feet from not transitioning him, or offloading his weight during his stay. He literally was in bed and the same position for 10 days straight from the sounds of the report I got this evening 1/10/2022. The wound care he was receiving from an amputation was larger upon his return, than it was when he left only ten days earlier. Due to being a covid patient, I was unable to visit, and relied on him answering his phone to get any sort of updates. If your loved one doesn't have a cell phone, do NOT plan on any communication! Make sure it's plugged in and kept charging. AT ALL TIMES! PLEASE if you send a family member here, make sure to be there as much as you possibly can be!!! I'm sure if something did happen you'd never hear about it from anyone. From what I've experienced these last 10 days I wouldn't recommend having anyone stay at Legend Oaks North Austin. Maybe things would have been different if I was able to be there daily. But given him being covid positive no one was able to enter the 300 hall staff included, nor send me to the nurses station phone "because they don't have one in that hall". Keep researching!!!

She was so thorough and asked questions to really understand what I'm going through to provide me a recommended plan for my case. She didn't try to do a one size fits all, but she really customized my care to me which is all that I can ask for. I'm not typically someone who goes to the doctor, but after her care today i've already scheduled a follow up and an appointment to get lab work done. We need more Nicole's in this world!!
