    Buffet!
    Christina B.

This little place is hidden inside of Eldridge right down 2nd street near the "Bookworm". We were greeted by a kid who seated us promptly. I found this to be extremely odd but he was polite and I was hungry. The buffet was not up and going much to my dismay so we quickly ordered egg foo yung, spring rolls, Four Seasons and the Happy Family combination plates. The food was absolutely wonderful. The spring rolls were fresh, hot and so full of flavor. I could also tell that the egg foo yung was a home recipe as I had never tasted it like this before. Very good. The best Chinese food I have ever had, hands down. Great food, friendly, helpful service and a lot of food for your money in a small little town.

Damn decent. This little place tucked away in eldridge iowa is a cheap and delicious place for lunch or dinner. The restaurant is small but the menu is just as wide ranged as most other chinese places. I love their hot and sour soup! Plenty of heat and flavor. Their lunch plates are a great deal $ also... ill be back again!

Love the owners and the food. I love that they are always willing to alter the spice strength for my child-like palette.

It was our first visit so we weren't sure what to expect. I now know you can expect: friendly service, reasonable prices, and good food. When you walk in the front door it is a little confusing. There is a gift shop, and the restaurant is past the gift shop; but the hostess stand is in the gift shop. You also pay your dinning bill at the gift shop counter. The gift shop got very congested, but it was not a big deal and won't impact my rating. We started with a cup of French Onion Soup. It was very good, they top it with some thin french fried onions which was a nice twist. It has been awhile since I've been in Iowa and I was craving a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. The sandwich was good but not up to Iowa standards. I'm accustomed to a breaded pork tenderloin that is pounded nice and thin and is way bigger than the bun. This was not pounded thin. It was a thick cut of meat. But, I repeat it was good. My fries were delicious. My wife had the Classic Burger and it was excellent. She said her sweet potato fries were good (I did not try them). Service is friendly, and prices are reasonable. One word of caution: If you are on a road-trip and hoping for a quick stop (as we were) be warned it won't be quick. Everything is made from scratch, which is great, but it definitely takes longer. If you are in Davenport and looking for good food at reasonable prices you might want to stop by The Machine Shed.

Maybe one where she was asking children at the mall what they would like for Christmas, or one where all the noodles were free and any donations went to rescue abandoned, mutilated puppies. The ambient music started with a pleasing tune from Talking Heads and moved to a comforting hit by Bon Iver. Throughout the whole meal, the music swayed between alternative pop punk, basement ballads and easy hip hop beats. My ears were fed. I continued watching the employee as she said goodbye to patrons with slit eyes and a wide grin that continued as she turned around and got back to shuffling things around behind the counter. Although clearly an effort to bring those customers back in to the establishment, the purpose seems less about the financial gain of the big box chain, but more so to eliminate her panicked uselessness when the business slowed. The food came and smelled delicious. I ordered a Thai curry with rice noodle and vegetables, a meal fit for a calorie-conscious young woman in a tight skirt. The flavors were rich for a bowl just under 600 cals, an accomplishment for a place where adding salt, sugar and fat to mask the lack of depth is probably standard procedure. I look around at a room of single tops and enjoy my food down to the last shred of Napa cabbage, celebrating the ease and comfort of eating alone at Noodles.
