I had cement work done around my house in spring of 2025. The workers broke a gate, and a drain pipe. They sprayed cement on the white PVC fencing house foundation, and left large gaps between the new cement walkway and the grass leaving it unsafe to walk. I discussed this with Mr. Miller twice but nothing was fixed. Work is very sloppy and once paid there is no coming back. read more

We contacted John about replacing the front door and siding. John helped us get a beautiful door and great color for the siding. We also replaced the balcony and back deck with pvc. The teams he sent over were quick and professional. Everything looks great. I was handling the interior of the house but my DIY skills are limited. I had a problem at home because my husband had a tendency to hoard building materials. No matter how much I complained, he continued hoarding. He recently passed away and I looked in my church bulletin and saw the ad for New Heights Construction. I called and spoke with John Miller. He immediately sent someone to look at the job I needed to clean the mess. My alley was totally filled with bricks, cinder blocks, old doors and windows, scrap metal, etc. When I say bricks, I mean probably five hundred or more all stacked up. Anyway, John sent a crew over about a half hour later. They worked from 8 a.m. til after 6 p.m. They also cleaned a lot of wood from large limbs of a tree that had been taken down last summer. Very impressive. I feel John was very honest and extremely quick to get me help. His crew were very respectful, courteous and they left my property absolutely immaculate. My husband and I contacted John Miller at New Heights Construction to get an estimate on our driveway. John came over gave us an estimate and we agreed to sign him up. John gave us a day and time his crew would start the job but, the crew was running a little late because of a prior job they were completing. The thing I liked about John was he made sure to contact us and let us know a new time they would arrive which means alot to a customer that your not sitting around waiting and not knowing where they were. I hired John Miller's company to do pointing. Pointing is the removal of all old mortar between bricks and installing new mortar in its place. I was given a price of 4,000 dollars and told the job would take 4 men and 2 days to complete. 2 men came and within only 7 hours they had cut grooves in the mortar, which was the only mortar that was replaced. John Miller came to collect final payment and I expressed to him that to my understanding all of the mortar was to be replaced, not just the exterior being rushed for completion in half the time quoted with half the crew. This job felt rushed and incomplete and am very unhappy with the end result. read more

Just last week he came immediately when I told him our drainpipe shifted and broke which caused all our recent rain to wash out the mortar between the bricks which caused leaks in the kitchen. Being a homeowner has its challenges. I had an engineer look at my home and he suggested that some support columns be installed in the basement to address minor sagging on the first floor. I contacted John Miller of New Heights Construction based on the recommendation of a neighbor who was pleased with a kitchen renovation done about a year, or two, ago. Mr. Miller arrived on-time this morning to conduct a free, no obligation, estimate. Here's what just happened after the handshake and good mornings - I offered Mr. Miller standard shoe covers to put over his shoes. He said that they wouldn't fit because he has a size 14 (or was it 18) foot. He sat and attempted to put on the cover but said they were too small. I then asked him if he would be comfortable removing his shoes as I had just finished cleaning. He responded, "No, I don't take off my shoes for nobody. Not even in my own house." I said I was so sorry and he turned to leave. Before leaving the entryway he said, "If you're that fussy it's best we don't work together anyway." As he walked down the walkway to the main gate he said, "Have a nice life. Remove my shoes. Ridiculous." He then exited my property and made no attempt to close the main gate behind him. I used this company to redo my kitchen. First I wanted them to match my exhisting cabinets for additional cabinets on a blank wall. They said they could do this. When the job was done, the cabinet color did not match, much darker than the one's I had. I was forced to keep two different cabinet colors or purchase newer one's to now match the cabinets on the open wall. I did not have a choice of vendors. He only dealt with a Koren company in Flushing. After 1 year, the lack of workmanship by a supposed carpenter and the poor quality of cabinets are making me see a bad decision I made to go with this company. I contacted the ower John, and voiced my many complaints and he said he'd be over when he had a chance. That was 2 months ago!! I had a ceiling leak men came to fix. Ceiling came down paint buckled on walls leaked to 1st floor. Paint job on both floors was terrible. I spent alot of money for nothing. I had to repaint my walls myself I did not want them back. Downstairs you can see steaks on walls, job not well done at all. Complaints to the owner, he sent man 1x after that he took his time saying it's just a paint job I have bigger jobs and I found him insulting. I would not recommend this company. He is expensive was unwilling to repaint a wall when that was needed not just a touch up. I'm not happy and no I would not recommend him to anyone read more

I wish I would have read the reviews first. He told me one thing and then said that he did not tell me. I used him to do my kitchen that was covered by the insurance company - was I robbed !!! and the insurance company robbed !!!!. Importantly, make sure he breaks down the work and spells everything out - what amount is paying for what. He said that he was giving me such a bargain on the roof - I wonder if the other unhappy people were females that were alone. He says that he's been busy after Hurricane Sandy - oops I hope they are not getting taken advantage of. I 'll tell you, I don't want him to come back to finish anything else. I hired New Heights to paint, change windows and repair my roof. The painting and windows worked out fine but the roof is a total disaster. The home I own does not have roof access from within the house so you need a 60 ft ladder to access the roof. Upon agreeing on a price for all the work to be done and a signed contract John Miller came to us and said he made an error and the roofing materials were more expensive than he quoted and asked for an additional $600. I knew I didn't have to pay the additional money but decided to in good faith that the work being done would be done well. The roofers in my opinion had no clue what they were doing and there work is proof of that. I kept calling John and telling him that the roof continues to leak. He said must be the window. Windows returned and caulked everything and said it was the roof not the window. Roof continued to leak and I continued to call him and then he said it was my gutter. Turns out it wasn't my gutter. Continue calling him and he kept making up different excuses of why the roof was leaking. Said he didn't give me a lifetime guarantee in the work done. I told him the work was never done correctly in the first place and as a result of the leak it has damaged the walls inside of my house. Continued calling him..now his excuse he is working with a new crew and they don't have a tall enough ladder. He did come to my home with said crew with a 46 ft ladder knowing full well it wouldn't reach my roof. So I had someone with a drone take pictures of my roof. The pictures shows very clearly the sloppy mess they left on my roof. I hired someone to go up on my roof and take video. I was told that whoever did my roof used very little to no adhesive to hold the roof down. Also the cheapest roofing material was used. Would not recommend him because apparently he has poor work ethic. read more

We used this company to put in a fence a few days ago. We used this company many years ago for other work and thought it would be a positive experience. We were completely wrong. We were quoted a price for which the owner, after having already given us a contract, changed because he "underestimated" the cost of the job. The actual workers who did the fencing (who were subcontracted by the way) did a decent job but missed a few grass pieces. When John Miller came to pick up his check my mother asked him to correct the work. He refused to do so but still wanted his check. They ended up arguing over it and he completely disrespected her by yelling at her in her own home. She had to threaten to call the cops before he would leave. I contacted him and told him this was completely unprofessional and disrespectful and simply uncalled for. I would NEVER use this company ever again or recommend this company to anyone. You're better off cutting out the middle person and working directly with the workers especially if he does not understand the basic concept of respecting your customers and satisfying their requests.
