A trip to…read morethe past Simply one of the best collections of ancient musical instruments in the whole damn country. If you are not interested in ancient music then you have never heard of this place and will never visit, but if you do happen to play the lute, recorder or harpsichord this is a place you should visit at least once in your life. Of course it's look and don't touch unless you happen to be a world class musician, but just standing next to the few surviving authentic ancient musical instruments is a thrill. The hours to the museum seem to vary so call to make sure it is open. but they do have concerts by great musicians using the authentic instruments on occasion. The museum is a small dusty place reeking of history. If you bother to visit the person inside will look like he is shocked to see anyone actually coming in, but for anyone interested in ancient music this is an absolute must. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

Tucked…read moreaway on Hillhouse Avenue (supposedly the street deemed by Mark Twain and Charles Dickens "the most beautiful street in America") and filled with treasures, "the Collection," as it is affectionately referred to, is a charming foray into history and musical refinement. The friendly and quirky staff of curators and student interns are always willing to engage in conversation. The instruments themselves range from ancient bells to grandiose baroque harpsichords. Highly recommend this pit stop!

This afternoon's entertainment was Mrs. Doubt Fire the Musical Comedy. This wonderful adaptation of…read morethe smash hit movie staring the late great Robin Williams and Sally Field was a pure delight to see live on stage. Craig Allen Smith portrayal of Daniel Hilliard was, in my opinion genius. The comedic timing of Smith as Daniel was a breath of fresh air honoring Robin, right down to his impressions. The entire cast were outstanding in their own right. It made me laugh, smile and cry. This was my third show at the Shubert and I can't wait to see what else is coming this year. If you haven't been here yet? What are you waiting for? Thanks again to the Shubert for another great time!

Analog Tom is the bomb…read more He literally wrote the book on vintage guitar effects pedals. (If you're an effects interested guitarist and don't own a copy, you should buy it or get someone to buy it for you as a present.) It's really a nice read with lots of great photos. Quite a useful reference tome and essential to any electric guitarist. For Musicians Only sells the book, Analog Man's Guide to Vintage Effects. They've revived the Black Cat Pedals brand and if the video demos are any indication the pedals sound great. They also sell new, used and vintage effects pedals. Analog Tom and his mentor, Analog Mike (Analog Man), have done much to educate the purchasing public in the esoteric ways of guitar pedals of yore. Whether that's good or bad, I'll let you decide. Some people believe esoteric knowledge should remain esoteric.

I could not recommend CMC studios more for anyone looking for incredible quality service and…read moreequipment for any sort of music making and training. Curt is a real renaissance man, with impeccable musicianship and producing capabilities. His studio is equipped with all the technology an artist could dream of, but Curt himself is the real best resource he offers. Warm, friendly and accommodating, I have so much fun and learn priceless tricks, tips and theory from him. I've both taken guitar lessons from him and recorded original music- Curt helped me immensely to grow from a guitar novice to a competent player, helping me translate my piano knowledge to the guitar. He's a whiz in the studio- recording has never been so easy and fun! I'm a Yale student with access to the recording studios on campus, but I would always rather jam and record with Curt because he has unparalleled technical mastery and prices his time and labour incredibly reasonably in comparison to most of the other people and studios out there. Anything you want musically- Curt's your man!!
