I…read morecontacted the owner and discussed what I needed done - "reupholstered 2 chairs" I showed him fabric sample and photo of the chairs- he quieted me a reasonable price which was consistent with other estimates- except he said he could get this done within next 2-3 weeks ( I had bee waiting several months for another place to do this - with no prove ted time estimate ) He made an appointment to come to my home to look at the chairs ( even though I had photos) He arrived when he said he would - calling before he came just to confirm- On arrival I showed him the chairs and discussed the modifications that I had been thinking of-He gave me his professional opinion and we reached an agreement as to how to best do this job. He confirmed that he could do it and gave me a time frame He picked up the chairs and had the job done on time. The quality of his work was outstanding and his professionalism was much appreciated!! I drove from where I live in Jamaica, Queens out to Island Park, Long Island where his shop is located and it was worth the trip. His work is mediocre at best and his behavior makes him a nightmare to work with. When he picked up my furniture, he had a full blown tantrum in the street, screaming and hollering and causing a scene for all of my neighbors to hear and see because he had never heard of homes on a "walk" and he couldn't find my house. He had a meltdown when I couldn't go to his shop with less than 24 hours notice. He lost one drawer pull from my antique dresser, and refused to apologize or take accountability, claiming that the pull wasn't on the dresser when he picked it up, despite me sending photos of the dresser prior to his possession of them. Even at furniture delivery, he placed three heavy table leaves on my brand new, $3000 crushed velvet sofa, leaving scratches in the fabric. When I told him I would pay him after I had this repaired he flipped out and threatened to steal my furniture. His exorbitant prices do not reflect craftsmanship. While a skilled refinisher can sand and evenly stain a dresser in however many hours, it will take Frank twice as long, and he will charge based on time. He makes up excuses for why certain repairs are "not possible," when the reality is that he isn't capable of certain repairs. See photos of two dressers where it is clear they are unevenly stained across the different drawers. The door in the center of the long dresser is a completely different color. He did not have the door attached until after delivery so I did not see how different the color is. He is condescending and brash, and the most unprofessional person I've ever had the displeasure of working with. Avoid at *all costs*

Recently we noticed that the cushions on two chairs that they restored decades ago were not holding up. We took them in and, a week later had cushions stuffed with new feathers that exactly match the colors of the rest of the chairs. Also one of the chairs had a bolt sticking out more than an inch. As part of the deal, Mike, the owner, visited our house and snipped the metal part off. When we need something done to our furniture, we don't have to make tough choices.

Mauricio directed his staff and communicated with me on the progress of the work. I am so pleased with the final product that maintains the mid century style to make it aesthetically beautiful and also functional. But it seems the company is under new ownership. My more recent job with them was subpar. When I reached out to them, they tried to blame me for misusing the item. The item was a diner booth bench. I was sitting on it! How could I misuse it?! Eventually they agreed to pick up and fix it but not before I had to fight with them to do so. Everyone makes mistakes. It's how you deal with them that makes all the difference. If they had simply apologized and fixed their mistake, I wouldn't have to be writing this bad review.
