Recently I purchased at a large black and orange butterfly kio for $150 + tax. It died within 5 days of being in my pond. I never saw it eat and attemp to eat. It just stayed at the bottom. I contacted the Luckys several times about it before finally being connected to the owner. The owner basically said there is no exchange or refund policy on livestock and he assumes no responsibility. I find this a disheartening waste of money and lack of appreciation to a loyal customer. He has gotten quite finicky in his old age, and my boyfriend and I didn't have any cash this past Saturday on our morning walk. He generously gave us a can of cat food for NO charge, as he felt badly if the cat didn't like it. What a great guy! This is the beauty of a wonderfully owned small business in a local neighborhood. Stay away from Petco and the larger chains - they will never give you the customer service and kindness of this wonderful little neighborhood gem. They also carry Oma's Pride raw diets. They also have a good selection of healthy treats on hand. The Pet Barn does carry a small selection of collars, leashes, toys, and cat litter, but it is primarily a pet food store, so do not expect entire shelves of toys and leashes. There is typically one or two staff working at a time, both of whom are kind and friendly. One of the staff owns a beautiful purebred Keeshond who acts as a door greeter. This store is rarely packed, so one should be able to go in and out in just a few minutes. The Pet Barn represents how it was like before Petco and PetSmart came about.
