The store really is a testament to how great and dedicated the owner is. He is the kindest most patient teacher for all things fish and will help you learn how to become a successful fish master. He is in the shop ALWAYS, will spend as much time with you as you want and will also leave you alone to browse. Aquatic Treasures is also a fish helpline. I had a beta fish that was very pathetically flopping around on the top of the tank and desperately called here (where I got him) to see if there was anything I could do to save him. He walked me through the steps and I have now had that happy beta for a year since. He also provides a fish kennel for when you go away if you don't have a trustworthy neighbor to feed your fish. If you are looking to start a new tank or get an exciting new fish this is the only place worth going. The prices are great; the quality and variety of fish are spectacular; and you get all the support you could ever want.

I will definitely return tomorrow when I have more time to spend. Having said that, the place has such a messy, disorganized outward appearance, it was nearly impossible to tell --even as I opened the front door-- that the place is still in business! But indeed it IS open for business, and my gut instinct is that this man will be able to help me.

There were 5 large rabbits each in tiny cages, and one of the Holland lop rabbits for sale had an eye infection. The tanks were dirty, and the entire shop looked shabby and depressing. Almost all of the aquarium lights were off, and there were signs of illness in the fish. A tortoise was in a plastic stock tank with a bowl of filthy water, and no enrichment. Heartbreaking, I hope the care improves.

I absolutely adore this shop! Knowledgable staff and owners who are happy to answer any questions…read moreor provide recommendations if you need them. Even with one visit, you can tell this local shop really cares about their customers and their pets. This shop has everything: food, treats, toys, accessories, leashes, harnesses - you name it, they have it. During holidays they tend to carry holiday-themed things as well (ie: halloween toys and treats, Christmas toys, etc). You can buy prepackaged treats or you can create your own bulk mix (they provide little baggies). Last time I purchased: a brush that dispenses soap (to make it easier to give my pup a bath), some bulk treats (chicken/carrot/apple bites, dried chicken strips), bully sticks, teeth cleaning gel, no-hands leash, and some cat treats/toys for a few friends. For me, large pet shops can get overwhelming and I don't love running between 10 aisles to find what I need. At Hungry Tails, I know I can easily walk through the entire shop and find everything I'm looking for, in addition to learning about some new products or brands. The owners also take pride in only stocking items that are healthy and good-for-your-pets so I know I don't have to worry about quality. If you're in the area, definintely pop in - or, at the very last, make sure you take a look at their window display, which is always adorable. FWIW, I live in Somerville, but will go to Eastie to shop here. That's how much I love it.

(She may not have been so happy with this one, but it did give us some great photos.) I love helping out small stores with people who love what they do and this store feels like that kind of place. I was so lucky to find them last minute when I was going away for a month. I was only going to hire them during the time of my month-long training, but when I got back I noticed what an impact the walks made on Lana's daily behavior habits. After that I hired them permanently and they have been walking her every week since. They have so much love for animals! they are RELIABLE, TIMELY, AFFORDABLE and have vast knowledge of dogs! In addition to all this, Jeremy and Martyna noticed some health problems with Lana. Because of them I took her into the vet and she is much healthier now. Thank you Thank you for all you do!

Martyna and Jeremy were outstanding -- they showed such great attention to detail, integrity, and care for our cat and our home. During their initial home visit, they took careful notes and came prepared with a contract for us to fill out prior to leaving. Our cat, Opal, is really shy, but Martyna and Jeremy were ready to spend whatever time she needed in case she ever wanted to come out for attention. They also watered our plants (which looked healthier when we got home than when we left!), and took in our mail. We were so impressed that all of these services were offered at such a reasonable rate. All in all, Martyna and Jeremy were absolutely wonderful. Our kitty and house were so well cared for that it seemed we had never even left. We will absolutely call them again next time we go away and would recommend them without hesitation. :)
