If you're looking for a massage that's more than just a light back tickle -- let me introduce you…read moreto Andrea at Open Sky Day Spa. I asked for deep tissue, and she must've taken that as a personal challenge because WOW. This wasn't a massage, this was an exorcism of knots. Andrea's hands were like tiny sledgehammers sent straight from the gods of relaxation. She found tension in muscles I didn't even know existed -- I think at one point she was negotiating peace treaties between my shoulder blades. Now, don't get me wrong, it hurt so good. That perfect combo where you're thinking: "This is slightly painful... but if she stops, I'll cry." By the end, I felt taller, looser, and about three stress levels lighter. Pretty sure I left the table speaking fluent dolphin. The spa itself? Super calm, smells amazing, and has that soothing music that makes you wonder if you've accidentally wandered into a yoga retreat. Add Andrea's superhuman strength and skills, and you've got a winning combo. So, if you're ready to have your stress kneaded out of existence (and maybe discover a new pain/pleasure threshold along the way), ask for Andrea. Just don't schedule anything too ambitious afterward -- you'll be too relaxed to function.

I made the mistake of trying them again. Very inconsistent!…read moreI've been here a dozen times because they have last minute appointments available. No other reason. Twice the massage was good. Most times it was below average. My last 2 were completely worthless. I should have got up and walked out. I was also harassed by them when I only tipped 15% for a bad massage. Today was the last straw. It was a worthless massage so I left no tip so we got yelled at by both "therapists" (using that term very loosely).

I've been going to Sean's Massage Center for 3 years for acupuncture from Jen and the occasional…read moremassage. For background: trying acupuncture was a last-ditch attempt to address lower back pain I've had for years, which was sometimes so severe I couldn't sleep. I'd seen doctors, tried meds, done PT, you name it. My new insurance covered Sean's, so I gave it a shot - and I didn't have back pain again for months. MONTHS. Now I make an appointment whenever it starts up again, and it's gone by the time I leave. Jen is direct and knowledgable, she checks in with me throughout the treatment, and I thoroughly enjoy our conversations. Big fan. Also, I said I get the occasional massage, right? Jen's are great, but today I went to Sean for the first time, and I am SHOOK. As long as I can remember, moving my neck a certain way caused intense pain. The massage was a little intense - Sean did check in with me several times - but I suspected I needed the higher pressure, and I was right. I walked out of there, moved my neck, and...nothing. No pain. For the first time in my life. I feel like I've touched Christ's robes. I'm not the kind of person who cares what a massage office looks like. I've been to a lot of massage centers/spas, and I've learned that how fancy a place is has nothing to do with how effective they are. As long as it's clean and comfortable, I'm good, and Sean's is very clean and the rooms are usually at a good temp (and if they're not, just ask, and they'll get you a heater or fan). That said, I get that some people do care, so I'll say that most of the rooms are brightly lit and there's no ~ambiance~ extras (plants, candles, whatever). In sum: they're professional, clean, affordable, and SUPER effective. I'm moving a couple hours away soon, and honestly, I'll probably make the drive to keep coming here.

DenAsh Massage shares some space inside a medical building. Plenty of parking in the private lot. The property is older and just needs a facelift. Be careful of pot holes. We split up into separate rooms. I later found out that hers was 1/3 of the others size. Mine was large enough for a couples massage. She also said the towel warmer was not working in her room. Once I turned over, I was draped with a warm towel on my neck, shoulders, and back. The heat helped to start loosening up those muscles. I was a little put off by choosing my own scent of oil that would be used during the head and face aromatherapy. Low light atmosphere, trying to read and smell bottles with the aid of a cell phone flashlight. I would prefer 2 choices or an unscented. Not twelve. Very nice massage. I always go Swedish with a new therapist. I can always ask for more attention to specific areas. A therapeutic massage can be too aggressive to fast. That just leaves you sore and aching. My wife liked the special attention given to her sensitivity in the legs. They do take credit cards with a cell phone card reader. Have never posted a bad review for a massage b/c quite frankly, I have never had one until not. Visiting Columbus and me and a friend booked 90 minute massages. I had Janelle, my friend had a young male (don't remember name). This was by far the worst "deep" tissue massage I have ever had. She spent at least 25 minutes on my anterior neck digging fingers into my neck (WTH). Next she pinched the lower aspect of each pec major and it was painful and bizarre. I was sore the next day from tissue damage. Please do NOT use Janelle.
