I apologize for the length of this review, but want to share my experience with New Direction. Even though my treatment time with them was short, sadly I did not have the experience that I had hoped for. I was referred by my OB/GYN for help with better management of my PCOS symptoms and the hope to get to a place where I could conceive naturally, or with minimal help/treatment. My first consultation with Dr. Derman was okay. He was professional, and initially made me feel heard. I was given two options for helping my PCOS: 1) lose weight, possibly with a GLP1 from my PCP, to see if that helped with my PCOS and allowed me to conceive or 2) jump into ovulation induction medications to get pregnant ASAP. Ultimately I chose to go the GLP1 route through my PCP and put a hold on option 2. Dr. Derman prescribed me a birth control, as he wanted me to try to regulate my cycle and I needed to be on BC if I started taking a GLP1. I started having "breakthrough bleeding" on the pill, which I was expecting. However, the bleeding lasted for 75 days. While it wasn't heavy bleeding the entire time, it was enough to have to use my menstrual cup every day for those 75 days. I reached out to the clinic a few times during those 75 days to express concern and to ask "how long is too long?" Every time I got the same answer, to continue taking the pill and that the bleeding was to be expected; that there was no concern unless I was filling my menstrual cup within a couple of hours. I discussed this with my PCP, who helped me make the decision to change my birth control pill. I started a new pill, and the bleeding stopped within 10 days. It was clear that the birth control Dr. Derman put me on was not ideal for my body...but they didn't seem to care, even when I told them the constant bleeding was taking a physical and mental toll. I decided to no longer seek any care through New Direction. To me, it felt like my care was put on the back burner since I wasn't trying to actively get pregnant. It felt like I wasn't worth their time or effort, and it was very disheartening. Sadly, this ruined their reputation for me. If I couldn't count on them to listen to a concern about a birth control pill, it doesn't instill a lot of trust that they'll be the right providers for me should I need fertility treatment. read more

Amazing service and very attentive and communicative team. If you have any questions the team gets back to you within hours. I saw Dr. Derman starting back in 2024. I failed a couple rounds of IUI so we proceeded with IVF. Succeeded first cycle, with 12 eggs on our 2nd transfer! Baby is 8.5 months old now sitting in front of me as I type this. Michelle the NP there is AMAZING!! She is very sweet and compassionate throughout the entire process. The appts are super fast so it is easy to squeeze in between work. Facility is beautiful and state of the art! Pricing also very fair and they walk you through ALL of it so you are not left with surprises! 10/10 would recommend. I just "graduated" from New Direction Fertility Clinic for the second time, and I couldn't be more grateful for the outcome. I have a healthy IVF toddler and am now pregnant with my second IVF baby -- living proof of the clinic's success rates! My overall experience with New Direction has been very positive. The providers are knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate. Michelle Murphy, CNP, who typically performs ultrasounds, is my absolute favorite--she's always such a delight and makes every visit feel comfortable and reassuring. My interactions with Dr. Amols and Dr. Derman have also been excellent; both are clearly experts in their field and take their time explaining the process. That said, I do think there's room for improvement in communication and scheduling. Appointments are often made last minute, with an assumption that patients can rearrange their schedules accordingly. I've also encountered a few miscommunications and moments where the office staff seemed a bit disconnected. Some additional interpersonal communication or trauma-informed care training could go a long way in improving patient experience. New Direction Fertility Centers turned my IVF journey into a heartbreaking nightmare. As a 33-year-old from Chicago, I chose this clinic for their promised "personalized care," but instead, I've had to beg for basic answers, leaving me feeling dismissed, ignored, and like a burden. The slight cost savings isn't worth this emotional toll. I pleaded repeatedly for a clear IVF timeline, charge details, a treatment chart, and lab orders. The staff, including Susan and Jessica C., responded with vague, provisional calendars or not at all, forcing me to chase them and micromanage . When I pleaded--sometimes three or four times--for these essentials, I got condescending replies like "I can tell you are frustrated," as if I was the problem for asking them to do their jobs. Their dismissive tone made me feel like an inconvenience, not a patient. They displayed what seemed to be neglect during my medication crisis. Prescribed norethindrone, I suffered severe cramping, nausea, and headaches. My desperate 5:27 AM went unresolved until 3:58 PM--10 hours later and too late for pharmacy access. Makes me insecure on what would they do in a more intense emergency ! I'm hesitant to post this, fearing retaliation mid-cycle, but I hope New Direction stops treating patients like burdens and delivers the compassionate care they promise. Dr. Amols offered personal care via his cell phone after I told them I would leave a review and I thought they would do better and resolve everything, I shocker to sayi regret choosing them. Save yourself this heartbreak--look elsewhere. This review reflects my personal experience view and opinion as a patient. Update :The final blow came after I posted this review. Dr. Amols texted me, stating they refuse service to patients with negative reviews and I had to remove it to continue treatment. however he then gave me only one hour to edit the review. I was in the process of editing, willing to adjust my feedback, but before I could respond, the clinic refunded my money, including the consult fee, and canceled my treatment mid-cycle. This abrupt termination and method of pressure and retaliation , after I had paid for hotels, booked flights, called off work, and made arrangements for this cycle, left me heartbroken and overwhelmed with emotional stress and pain. The stress of losing my chance at IVF that I have made many accommodations that have emotionally prepared myself, combined with the financial and logistical losses, was crushing as you can imagine that this process has already been emotional itself and to have this added on stress by a doctor.. it's just devastating and quite unbelievable. What took me so long to write this review? Probably because I've been so busy with my baby! When my husband and I initially visited New Direction, it was to thaw and fertilize 12 eggs I had frozen from my younger, more fertile years. When New Direction broke the news to us that these eggs were likely poor quality (something my earlier clinic had noted on the report of my eggs, but never revealed to me), we were devastated, sure that it was too late for me to have a baby at age 41. Recognizing our needs and budget constraints, Dr. Amols recommended a procedure we had never heard of that got me knocked up after just one egg retrieval and a price tag so low you wouldn't believe me if I told you. Going in for the many necessary visits to the clinic was a joy because it meant we got to see Michelle, our Nurse Practitioner, who I came to view as a friend. Michelle, if you see this - hi, we miss you! I hope you can meet Zeke one day! He's absolutely beautiful and I go stand at his crib every night just to watch him sleep and breathe. I first went to Dr.Amols in September to do an HSG procedure to see if my tubes were clear. I was so freaked out for this procedure, thanks to social media. The second Dr.Amols came in, he reassured me everything will be okay and that the reason it hurts a lot of people is because their doctors do not take it slow. He reassured me I would be okay and took injected the dye slowly. I did not have any extreme pain I expected to have! He was so reassuring, so kind! I cried in a sense of relief and he thought I was crying because of the pain and kept asking very concerned if I was okay. When I explained I was crying a sense of relief, he was so excited for me. He advised if I ever wanted to explore fertility treatments to give him a call. My wife and I were doing home AI and scheduled a consult for January. This clinic was recommended to me by two of my cousins who also struggled with infertility. From the very first consultation, I felt heard and appreciated. My doctor was Doctor Amols, and my NP was Michelle. I could not have asked for a better team. I had 3 IUI's and a surgery to remove a poly at this clinic. After the 3rd IUI we were successful. My experience is similar to the other negative reviews. Good luck ever getting a response from anyone in a timely manner. I emailed the MD, no response, and went through the stupid chat (it's not a live chat...). Took a few days to get a response via chat until they eventually just stopped responding. True the clinic is the most affordable that I found (for certain things...not everything), but I wouldn't want to go here because they are that hard to reach. What do you do if you actually are a patient with a real problem? Communicate with the chat and wait 5 days for a 1 sentence response? With CNY they at least responded to my email within a few days (despite never managing to talk to someone on the phone). Very much a "you get what you pay for" type of place. If you aren't in a hurry and don't need to travel, then I guess it is worth it despite the lack of communication. I don't need a personable experience hell I don't even need anyone to remember my name but at least be available. Most clinics do answer their phones and respond to emails right away, but you are paying for that. It's the same with actually getting started with real appointments...They can get you in there right away, vs the high volume places where you will be on a list for months. In any case, at this point probably just going to go to Tijuana after reading about a clinic there on Reddit, with a female MD. Costs a bit less (and much cheaper than them for IVF), and I have been able to have Facebook conversations day of with the actual MD and not a coordinator to get started right away. read more

The reviews are real, the staff and medical assistants are amazing, and the doctors are better than anywhere else! We got in November 2018 and met Dr. Amols--super friendly, put us right at ease. The office does get busy and it's a sign that they're successful/popular, so we didn't see him throughout our fertility journey too often, but we worked with amazing doctors and nurses--Shannon was our main IUI Doctor, and our third IUI procedure worked for us! They squeezed me in with an appointment a month in a half After contacting them then out journey began. Other than a few mistakes made with communication the journey and experience was amazing they made us feel welcome and nothing was rushed on top of that everyone knew their craft and loved what they did. They gave us recommendations and also pointed Us in the direction of a great acupuncturist and in doing so we are now blessed with our 3-month-old baby girl. The doctors are extremely kind and very knowledgeable and at the end of the day that's the goal of a fertility clinic. I still think the front desk staff can do better but absolutely wonderful communication from the doctors and their staying up to date on the intricacies of fertility medicine has convinced me this is a true five star experience. 10 years of infertility later, I am pregnant so I'll deal with their lack of docusign and their front office staff not communicating well sometimes and their pharmacy mixups all over again. read more

I transferred my care to Dr. Amols with New Direction after having my initial infertility evaluation at another clinic. I was told by the dr at that first clinic that due to my low AMH and DOR, it would likely take at least 2 IVF cycles to achieve a successful pregnancy. During my first encounter with Dr. Amols, I felt so comfortable because he treated me like a person instead of another number, showed empathy, and explained to me what my numbers meant and his detailed plan of action. He was patient and answered all of my questions. I instantly trusted him. My first IVF cycle resulted in 3 PGS-tested normal embryos. I underwent my first embryo transfer and am currently almost 6 weeks along. I am humbled by and so grateful for the unexpected success I've had so far at New Direction, esp after another clinic informed me that it would take at least 2 IVF cycles to achieve a successful pregnancy. Just finished my 2nd FET and am now pregnant with our 2nd child. I wanted to address comments I've heard from potential patients who've spoken with more recent patients. 1. Dr. Amols isn't as accessible anymore: It's true Dr. Amols hired help (check his FB for an explanation) but that doesn't mean he isn't the one guiding your fertility journey. Having someone do ultrasounds means he sees more patients keeping costs down. The priority is that you get pregnant and it doesn't matter if there are additional people helping you accomplish that. 2. Dr. Amols may not recognize you or remember your name: Many people struggle to remember faces/names and Dr. Amols sees a ridiculous number of people. If this offends you, then evaluate your perspective. You want a doctor who's in, out and don't have to see until you want that next baby. If he knew me well, that means he is seeing me often and I'm not getting pregnant which would be bad news for me. Better to keep that close relationship with your ObGyn. 3. Communication isn't very responsive: I've heard this regarding becoming a new patient and it's because they want to hit the ground running even though it takes time. Get your paperwork done, set your appointment, etc. it all goes by MUCH quicker than you think it will and why would you rush something so important? ***When frustrated in the process I remind myself that I'm on lots of hormonal drugs and in the end I get results which is all that matters. I chose Dr. Amols due to his low cost, high success rates, and because I'm originally from AZ so I can stay with family when I'm in town. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Amols and his wonderful nurses and staff. After struggling to get pregnant for 5 years, we finally got the answers we needed to successfully get pregnant. Dr. Amols is so personable and genuinely cares about all his patients. The nurses were always so sweet no matter how many times I'd message questions through the Klara app. The tests and treatment plans started out with the less invasive procedures before he even recommended us to try IVF. The costs of IVF and pharmacy discounts available were very reasonable compared to other clinics. With the success rate NDFC has, you would think that the cost would be over the top. But, Dr. Amols knows first hand the emotional struggle to get pregnant and doesn't want the financial burden to prevent couples from starting their families. After 3 IUIs, a round of IVF, and 2 embryo transfers- I'm currently 24 weeks+ pregnant and there are no words to explain how grateful we are to have chosen NDFC. We are forever grateful to Dr Amols and the clinic for our beautiful baby girl. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff are professional and caring. We did one cycle of IVF here and one cycle of IUI. The one cycle of IVF yielded 3 embryos that unfortunately tested abnormally genetically. The one cycle of IUI resulted in our beautiful baby girl ( I had just turned 41 when I became pregnant). Dr Amols is very knowledgeable, professional, nice, and realistic. Staff are also professional, friendly, and responsive. Do note that it's not necessarily easy to get your first appointment (I waited a few months), but once you're in the cycle - everyone is super responsive. The clinic uses the Klara app, for which I have no complaints. Appointments are always on time. I don't recall ever waiting more than a few minutes to be seen. Prices are reasonable (for fertility treatment anyway!). As you search for a fertility clinic, beware of places that push you towards IVF without really reviewing your records. Also, pay attention to results by age. I had a terrible experience at a top clinic in Colorado. It's worth traveling out of state for the right clinic, and I believe New Direction can be the right clinic for a lot of people. BTW Dr Amols has a very good podcast. We chose New Direction, and Dr. Amols back in 2018! I gave birth to our son and daughter (twins!) in January 2020 after only one successful round of IUI. Everyone in and everything about that office is amazing! Every thing was very transparent, and everything is handled right on-site: from testing and bloodwork, all the way to our procedure and subsequent confirmation of pregnancy and initial support/monitoring visits. I would 100% recommend the team there, even with the sometimes long wait for an initial appointment. It's totally worth it. read more
