The next day, I spoke with Ahmad and paid in advance so they could order the replacement part. They informed me that it would arrive sometime between Monday and Wednesday. Later, they even called me back to confirm that I wanted a Grade A screen, explaining that while it wasn't completely brand new, it was still covered by a one-year warranty. If I preferred a brand-new screen, it would cost an additional $50. I asked Ahmad for his honest opinion on which option was best for me, and he recommended the Grade A screen over the new one. I trusted his advice and went with that option. I dropped off my Mac on Wednesday at 9 AM, and by 11:30 AM, I received a call saying it was ready for pickup. At the shop, I was told a diagnostic fee was required, cash only, and I was given no receipt for the payment. I wasn't comfortable leaving my device, but I felt pressured and paid. I was told I'd get an update within two days. Timeline 9/9: Dropped off the device. 9/11: Got a call that suggested they weren't sure which device was mine. I was told the technician was still working on it. 9/17: I called for an update and got the same answer. Later that day they said they would try new charging ports, even though I had told them at drop-off (and Apple's diagnosis noted) that this had already been tried and ruled out. They said they'd text me a list of other parts to order. I never received it. 9/18: After I followed up by text, they said they couldn't repair it. I said I'd pick it up and was told to come between 6 and 7 pm. I texted during that window and got no response. 9/19: Went to the store and was told the device would arrive that evening. I followed up before closing and was told to come back the next day. 9/20: Texted to ask if it had arrived and was told to come the following day. 9/23: After I mentioned filing a police report, I was told it was at the store and I could pick it up. Though I thought it might be time to buy a new computer altogether, decided to put it off for another year or so (since Apple store hours and services were limited at this time). Instead, I just bought a new compatible battery (thru Amazon) that could be replaced by Apple, or an Apple-authorized repair shop. After googling some reviews online, decided to call this repair shop. I was able to speak with Nick right away, and he made the whole process seem so easy and hassle-free...and said that they can usually do it within the same day. He also gave me a quote for the repairs. Not only friendly, but very helpful! Although I happened to visit the shop on a busy Wednesday afternoon, Nick managed to get my laptop battery replaced and the fan blower (?) cleaned within a few hours. He was even willing to work past their store hours to get it completed if necessary! Whew...I was SO relieved to hear that, as I would have hated to leave my personal laptop with them overnight. Not only was this process hassle-free and expedient, it costed under 100 bucks!! By now, I've tested my new battery strength, and it has improved tremendously. Also, the fan blower isn't as loud (almost scary). So overall, am very satisfied with the service and repairs...and I would highly recommend this place for anyone with any PC issues!
