It's not far from my job so I come here nearly every day M-F for lunch. The owner, his wife and their helper always greet and welcome me as soon as I step through the door with a smile. They have memorized my order at this point since I rarely switch it up. Everyone refers to this place as the "dollar scoop" because that's how much it was per scoop back when it first opened several years ago. Due to inflation it's now $2 per scoop but they still fill your plate up. They aren't skimping on portions, you spend $8 here for 4 scoops and your plate will be LOADED. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. It's not 5 star top chef but it's still very tasty and the amount of food you get for the small price is well worth it. The bourbon chicken is AMAZING, it's my favorite item. Don't sleep on this place. read more

What can I say this place has it all good food, cheap prices, and quick service. I may just be bias by my love of Chinese cuisine but this spot is good. read more

I definitely would recommend if you're looking for something good and quick! The food is very tasty, full of flavor, and is very filling. The ambiance is good if you just need a quick kind of quiet spot to eat, but only if you just needed to sit for a few minutes. The service is okay and I've never had an issue, but it's not outstanding. read more

They are very rude. I ordered almost 27 dollars worth of food and they did not put the red sauce in my bag, I had to drive back to get it and my crab rang was cold so I asked for a fresh order and the lady at the register got loud and rude couldn't understand everything she said and refused, and went from the register to handling food with out washing her hands or using sanitizer, which I will be reporting to state read more

The staff was very unprofessional and disrespectful toward me. It's important for businesses to treat their customers with respect and provide assistance when needed. I hope that in the future, this establishment can improve their customer service and provide a more welcoming atmosphere for their customers. read more

Food was good, service great and the price was right. Will definitely be going back. I will be spreading the word about this hidden gem.

Good food and reasonable price. They have a variety of food options if your in the mood to taste everything

You get what you pay for. RUDE staff. Mediocre food. Crab wontons were dry and hardly filled. Rice was hard and chicken was well sauced. And you have to request EVERYTHING fork, spoon, napkins. If they want to save money/ waste.. then ask me if I need any of those items or post a sign stating that we have to request them. Not impressed. Do not recommend read more

Favorite 4 Entrees: 1. Pepper Chicken 2. Green Pepper Steak 3. Butter Shrimp (think buttery shrimp encased by a chinese donut) 4. Teriyaki Chicken I was wary after finding out by the only photo I could find online of this place is that it has "$1/scoop" food, but definitely better than expected. I'd say skip the crab rangoon/egg rolls which are very average. General Chicken (tso's?) - wish it was crispier, but flavor was great. Perfect level of spiciness Honey Chicken - I really liked the coating on the chicken Chicken with Broccoli - decent Teriyaki Chicken - amazing, sweet but not overly sticky Overall, the value you get if you stick to the $1/scoop food is amazing! I honestly don't know how they make money at that price with the amount of food you get. The food was so tasty that I forgot to take a photo until I was already halfway done. Honestly, the quality of the food (for the entrees, at least) are probably on par or slightly better than any other Chinese-American restaurant, but the value and speed of service here makes it worth it to go to. read more

New China Express - Mmmm...scooped Chinese food. For real, though. A lot better than you would expect from the outside! - Chinese Near Me - Columbus, Georgia

The food is okay because sometimes the rice is too hard and sometimes it's cooked just right. However, now that the place is no longer famous for its $1.00 scoop, (price increased to $1.50 a scoop), I have noticed that each scoops are only about half a scoop that they serve me. I only come in for the fried rice and chicken on a stick. Three scoops of rice should have the small plastic bowl overflowing with rice. In the past, I would get 2 scoops and the bowl would be full. Now the same bowl with three scoops is barely full. I know that inflation caused them to increase their prices but they don't have to steal from the customers with smaller servings. The server will start with the big tray only to dump the food out and get the smaller bowl tray, if I only order the rice. He puts the used tray back into his stacked trays. This is unsanitary and the food inspectors should do an undercover inspection. read more

Haven't seen a dollar scoop Chinese food place since I lived in Denver. My husband and I drove by after a late Wal-Mart run. Look, it's literally $1 per scoop and for the price it really isn't bad! All the chicken dishes were literally the same chicken in different sauces. The chicken could have been crisper but the sauces were pretty tasty. My favorite was the pepper steak, my husband loved all of it. Overall, it's cheap- cheaper than drive through fast food- and good. Was it the best food ever? No. Will I be back? Sure. read more

It's real hard to beat this place. 3 to 4 dollars for a meal that tastes scrumptious! I usually get it to go but they have a dining area as well. My fav quick spot for sure. I wish that there was one on Vets Pkwy up here around Lowes. read more

Awesome, yes it did go up 25 cents a scoop but it was very yummy. My daughter and I ate for $11.

This is quick, decent Chinese food. The prices are great. And I love their egg rolls. Both my husband and I visit this location quite often. I went there yesterday to grab a quick lunch and my bill was $7.18. When I checked my bank account later that day they must have added a tip even though I zeroed that section out. They charged my card $8.62 when I have a receipt for $7.18. The money is not a big deal, it is only $1.44 extra. But if they do this to other customers that money will quickly add up. I will no longer visit this location because they steal. read more

I love this place. Me and my spouse go here often. The food is great munchie food. Or a quick last minute dinner/lunch. I get cheesy crab and lo mein. Egg drop soup and egg roll. They have great fried rice. Fast and cheap. Great selection. Love this place read more

This was the first time I came here. The food was okay and fine, but the service was horrible and rude. Especially the young woman who served the food, she looked uncomfortable and didn't even give a smile, even though I told her "please" and try to be polite when I ordered the food. She was so cold. I'll never come back this place again. read more

This place is just bad. Sesame chicken was all watery and the honey chicken was so mushy. Does not taste good. Just poor quiality Chinese food. Portion sizes aren't that big, but you get what you paid for. I've given this place multiple tries but it's just bad. Do yourself a favor and go down the road to Panda Garden and get some DELICIOUS food for just $5 for lunch with much larger portions. read more

You can't beat their prices. Their food is better than anything else I've tried in town. I like green pepper steak, chicken with broccoli, general chicken, fried rice, chicken egg roll, and spring roll. I haven't tried the soup but they give you a large portion for $1.20. $5 and you are good to go. read more

This is literally my favorite place in Columbus Georgia. I'm a regular and go about twice a week. The food is great and cheap. Any time I meet someone new in the area, I bring them here. Best items: fried rice, honey chicken, teriyaki chicken, egg drop soup, and the rolls. Great for a quick meal. The staff doesn't really communicate with you, but it's pretty fast paced anyway. read more

You may think $1 a scoop is a good deal but I warn you to stay away. The food is awful even my 12 year old would not eat it, and he is no stranger to food. Most people call this place the "$1 a scoop" place, however it should be called Scoop and Poop. read more

Bought several dollars worth of food including rice. When asked for some soy sauce the lady gave me 2 small packets. I politely asked if I could have only 1-2 more and was told that it's 10 cents a packet. You don't go to a restaurant without getting/having access to silverware, salt, Pepper, ketchup, mustard etc and being charged extra right? As far as the food it was sub-par except for the white rice which was extremely dry, perhaps from the lack of soy sauce. read more
