Steady decline in quality. Most recently was given shrimp in a soup I specifically ordered without shrimp (I'm allergic) had a mild reaction after I ate 1/3 of the soup before the discovery of shrimp. I called to caution them to be careful and have it replaced in the future; replacement was agreed to. Today i went to replace it and was refused. Food not the same anymore to me. My ABC ( Almond Boneless Chicken) was greasy and the coating on the chicken was half there half not ( wasn't smooth) and it was hard and chewy on the end. The chicken fried rice was doused in soy sauce only a few pieces of chicken. No vegetable gravy was available ( I am one of those who don't like brown gravy on their ABC. My egg rolls weren't good either and I had the nerve to order two. It only had a few sprouts in it and seems to be nothing else. Very good lunch today had ABC you know as Almond Boneless Chicken very good juicy moist Love that gravy. Lunch combination come with fried rice, soup n egg roll. Me the Canton Inn Super Special OMG yes a winner had Steak, Chicken n Shrimps in a variety of Chinese veggies super bang for your buck only 8 bucks, ,, yeah gonna go back for this again. I don't understand how this place is rated so high. I ordered from here last year, horrible, didn't put up a review because every place has bad days. I didn't want to sound like an ass. But I unfortunately tried them again the other day. They may have gotten worse!!! I ordered the General chicken (#19). Now what I thought I was going to get and what I got were two totally different things. I assumed General chicken and General Tso chicken were at the very least similar. What I got was some soggy fried chicken in a gross brown mushroom sauce. Seriously not even edible. I'll never order from here again!!! read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid. It was our family's go-to Chinese place and I've kept the tradition alive. The dinner prices are reasonable. With a $10 entree, you get a TON of food... I'm talking enough food to share between two people and enough for leftovers the next day! It also comes with soup, an eggroll and of course, a fortune cookie. The service is good. The place is never busy, so they've got plenty of time to pay attention to you. Cups don't stay empty long and they're happy to bring extra sauce or veggies or whatever else it is you need. It's pretty busy when it comes to take-out, so if you don't want to eat inside, just call your order in. Their dining room is pretty large and could accommodate a pretty large group. It has booths and tables so you've got your choice of where to enjoy your meal. The place has no windows. I don't know why but I'm pretty sure that creeps me out. So I lost out on a dinner that night. Could not identify what it was... or suppose to be. Shame because I have no car to return it. OK it's been about 5 years since I have been here (moved) and i'm sad to say it appears that they have changed the food quality. I grew up near this restaurant and it used to be my favorite Chinese food, by far! Last week I took my father for dinner and we were both excited since we hadn't been in a while. The food overall was disappointing but the service was still good. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken combination which included pork fried rice and wonton soup. You get a LOT of food with the combo. The soup was good but the sweet and sour chicken was not so good. Chicken tasted old and was mixed with a lot of "mystery'' pieces of chicken. Basically tough pieces of chicken with tendons still in it. There was also canned pineapple and no green peppers or onions in the sauce. Even the rice taste old and not a good quality pork. Def not like it used to be. My dad ordered the cashew chicken and he also said it just wasn't the same like it used to be. We both also noticed how greasy the egg rolls was. More greasy than normal. Tasty but extremely greasy. He did like the Hot and Sour Soup. with all that said the price is cheap and you get lots of food. It you are into quantity over quality I would check it out. This is where I've gotten Chinese for my entire life. So I know I'm biased. If you want simple, fantastic and cheap Chinese food, go here. I recommend it to everyone. The egg drop and wonton soup is good and tasty. All of the entrees are delicious. I don't think I've ever had anything bad here. Also, yes, I've never had crab rangoons like these anywhere else in my life. They're so pudgy and full of cream cheese and crab, you definitely get your money's worth out of them. It's not particularly fancy in there, however with the new management, they have been updating the interior some. This place has the best, HANDS DOWN, crab cheese rangoons that I've ever had. I've been to many fancy and not-so-fancy Chinese places and no one does crab cheese like them. My Mom calls them "bonnets" simply because it is a MOUND of crab and cream cheese that is pinched in the wrap and fried. Most places only give you 3-4, but I believe you get 6 or 8 at New Canton Inn. This alone makes them my favorite. Their prices are super affordable, and I'm usually splitting my meal with 1-2 people because the portions are so large. (After you have a couple crab ragoons, soup, and an eggroll, there's not much room left) I'm so glad that they are still open today, and I think they are better than P.F. Chang's by far. read more

I've lived down the road from the Canton Inn for the last year and have only dined there once, so I decided to give this place another shot, even though I remember not being overly impressed with the food. My second visit to Canton Inn gave me the memory refresher that I would have much rather have been without. Now, don't get me wrong here, this place is far from terrible as the service and atmosphere is very warm and accommodating; however, where things tend to be not so good is the lack of flavor in the food. From the first spoonful of my egg drop soup to the last spoonful of my fried rice, the only one word that came to my mind the entire time was "meh, I've experienced better", as my two-star raking clearly reflects. I found myself over the entire course of my meal using my plum sauce, pepper, and spicy mustard as a necessary ingredient for making up for the lack of flavor in the food. I could go into the details about every dish that I had and what was wrong, but I feel I would end up repeating myself over-and-over-and-over again... I wouldn't totally write this place off if you were in the area and wanted Chinese food; however, if you wanted to spend the extra 10 or 15 minutes to go to what I would consider some better alternatives, I would go that route and head elsewhere. read more

Tried the new canton inn last night and ordered the steak kow combination carry out. My order was ready fast (10 minutes), picked up my order and the inside looked nice from what could see. The portion look good in the standard carry out container. The food itself was below your average Chinese carry out. The steak was the standard strip type meat you get when you order from these places, but here it was old and overcooked, but edible. The vegetables was bland and overcooked as well, but the gravy sauce was good though. The egg roll is the bean sprout stuffed type and it looked very old and I never see an egg roll that looked so dark inside of it, did not even try it. So this place seem to be like most Chinese carry out places, and I have been to about 50 of them from all over the country, but I would said this place is less than average for what it is. I would give it a 4 out of 10. read more

I ordered a carry out order and when I called to tell them my order was wrong, and was missing food, the server quickly accused me of being a liar. I told her it was not about the money, just wanted to inform them. Her response shocked me, she said "well that's your problem now." I asked if I can talk to the manager and she said, no he isn't here. I asked who is in charge, and she said she does not need to answer my questions. We hadn't been to Canton Inn in years until last night. Sure, the prices are low but you get what you pay for. The egg roll and soup were good. The fried shrimp was so greasy from being over cooked that we couldn't eat eat the batter so I peel a few and noticed the spleen was still in the shrimp. The worst I've ever had in a Chinese restaurant that usually knows how t prepare shrimp. The shrimp chow mien was actually a bowl is bean sprouts with few celery pieces and no onion making the dish bland. My plate was piled with shrimp coating but no one asked me about it. Im more use because I paid for it and just vowed never to return. Friendly staff but lousy food. Cathay House is expensive but at least serves better food. read more

For being a small, almost hidden restaurant, the food was amazing! The egg rolls were perfection, the wonton soup was delicious, the crab cheese was stuffed to the brim, the biggest I've ever seen) and their entrees (beef and broccoli, and almond chicken) were simply amazing... It was so great to find a restaurant so close to the house! My new go to place! And the price was great! This was literally the most disgusting food I've ever had in my life. My family got spring rolls, plain fried rice and Szechuan veggies. The vegetables were still raw, I don't mean "al dente".. I mean completely raw. The spring rolls were disgusting and seemed to have little pieces of giblet meat -- sadly, my family does not eat meat, so we were shocked but I can admit we did not clarify if the spring rolls would have little pieces of gelatinous meat-like substance.
