I had a herniated disk L5-L4 and was in extreme pain from it pressing against a nerve. I waited 1…read morehour before being seen when a "buddy" walked in to chat with one of the docs in front of me about a patient. He took the time to talk with his "buddy" while patients waited. When I finally was seen I was first seen by a PA ( who was new) then shuffled to another PA "Drew". It was the most appauling and unprofessional visit which resulted in her stating I was being catastrophic regarding my pain. Not only that, she was confusing meds that I had on my allergy list to meds I was currently taking. I have worked in heath care for the US Navy and US Coast Guard for 20 years this woman would have been demoted and reprimanded. This was the worst experience I have had for medical care. I would give zero stars if I could.

The reason I'm giving a 4 star review is because 3 of my appointments have been canceled. I can…read morebarely walk at the moment and my procedure, that I have confidence will help me was canceled. When I asked when I could have another appointment they told me 4 weeks from now, which I considered outrageous. When I let them know how I NEED this procedure done, then they gave me an appointment for the week after. Dr. Hartshorn, is amazing otherwise, he takes the time to listen, and give you options. They have snacks, coffee, and the office is super clean. The staff is super friendly. I just feel like, as someone who can barely put any weight on her foot, and then pain is so bad that I can't sleep, that this is not considered urgent and therefore it gets canceled.

I've visited the facility on two different occasions because it was close to where I live. Since…read morethe injury was in my shoulder, I didn't want to drive far. The owner, at least at the time was awesome. His name is Kip. However he phased out and said basically he would hardly ever be there which was true. Unfortunately he put the practice in the hands of a young girl who regularly pretty much ignored the female patients and flirted with the male patients. She actually told me that since I was already familiar with the exercises I needed to do that I should just get heat and cold treatment there, but should "Go home" to do all the stretches and exercises and weights! The reason your doctor sends you to PT is to be worked on and helped by the physical therapist! I purposely used someone else when I went there after that, but the atmosphere was unprofessional. I think Kip needed somebody to count on so he could leave the business, but he really had no clue what was going on when he wasn't present. I will not be going back.

Today my mom went for a doctors appointment after driving for an hour and a half to see him. The…read moredoctor had an emergency surgery which is entirely understandable being in this field, however that is where the office's customer service and lack of ability to sensitively address patients became ALARMINGLY obvious. After being out of work for months due to an injury (my mom was in EMS for 8 years and is a personal trainer/fitness instructor for 10+), she has been dealing with the injury and getting her care at this doctor's office, but do hope she will not go back. After arriving to the doctor's office, my mom was told her appointment had been cancelled due to the doctor's emergency surgery, but did not receive a call to notify her of this. A large and heavy set Spanish woman who's name we could not recall proceeded to be extremely rude to my mom. The office admitted to not calling my mom to notify her and agreed to try and fit her in due to the long drive. After stepping outside to square things away with insurance as there were issues with it when she arrived, and I imagine this may happen at most doctors offices at a daily basis, my mom was told, "I don't think this will work out today." That is a lack of customer service and bedside manner. If you do not want to be treated like this, do not go to this provider.

My first impression of the Newton Wellesley Hospital Outpatient Surgery Center is that I entered…read more"nirvana (this was before I received any sedatives/anesthesia)." I got the impression that this place would be different, when I was greeted by two kind staff members in the lobby, one, who escorted me upstairs to the Outpatient Surgery Center. It seems that 80% of a patients "contact time," while a patient at the Outpatient Surgery Center, is with the Center's Registered Nurses, and they - - collectively - - are a group of (especially) kind, comforting, professional, and efficient healthcare providers. There is no edge, or anything edgy about the Newton Wellesley Hospital Outpatient Surgery Center, is is a place that seems to be stuck in a "state of calm;" there's no pandemonium, noise, rushing, waiting, or drama, just kindness, caring, efficiency, and healing. My surgeon, hand surgeon, Matthew Leibman, MD is a Rock Star, a professional, genius, skilled, caring clinician.....unpretentious, despite all of the important people that he cares for. Dr. Leibman's Physician Assistant, Ashley Piemonte, is equally caring, professional, and skilled, and misses not one detail - - she makes certain that your continuity of care is continuous. I'm biased towards Massachusetts General Hospital, which I believe is the greatest hospital in the world; the Newton Wellesley Hospital Outpatient Surgery Center doesn't have the academic, tertiary, big city edge of MGH, but there are times, like today, for me, that I didn't need that.

This was my tenth surgery in life so I've experienced the good, the bad and the extremely ugly…read more This ranks as the best experience. Nice, kind nurses who bring warm blankets; doctors who take the time to explain what to expect. I always have difficulties waking easily from anesthesia but no one got upset with me or rushed me. Everything was orderly and everyone seemed to know what they were doing. I don't want any more surgeries in life, but I would choose this place again if I had to.
