Whenever there has been an issue during the day, I get a text right away, and I feel like I can communicate any concerns I have about my daughter or her education without worry. After a year in Ms. Kristen's classroom (the Toddler Room), we moved to the Primary Room with Ms. Amber, which has also been a really positive experience. Primary is more chaotic with fewer teachers per student (2:24 vs. 2:12 in the toddler room), but my daughter has learned so much in just the first 4 months she's been in Primary. At 3.5 she can count to 10, can read numbers, knows most of her letters by sight, knows all her shapes and colors, and can discuss her feelings well. Additionally, she is learning some basic Spanish, and knows how to do some basic food prep. Casa dei's mixed age groups and caring instructors have been perfect for us.

Addressing the concern about employees and English skills, there are several employees who were born in other countries and for whom English is clearly a second language. I was actually really pleased to see that my son would be exposed to such a diverse group of people so early in life. I've never had trouble communicating about his needs and his pediatrician was blown away by his verbal skills at his last well visit, so I know his language development is just fine. I have zero direct knowledge of the staff pay, so I can't address concerns about staff being underpaid. I certainly hope that isn't the case because they are wonderful.

This time the video games were not working and the tablets were not available to them because the workers said that they could not use them. They said the other toys were for much younger children maybe like for under. So they walked around bored the whole time. We requested that they be fed but when we picked them up they charged us for the food but my kids said they had not been fed so I told them they hadn't been said and they said that the computer listed them as fed but they did not charge us for that . The air hockey machine was broken as well so my kids could not use that. My kids said that the workers were shouting at the kids and didn't speak very kindly. At one point the kids were all shouting the f word but the workers didn't Stop them. They're also were many children and babies but only two workers watching all of them. We love the idea of drop in child care and the price is nice. It was a good experience before when there were things available for older children. But my children walked around bored the entire 2 hours we were gone and never want to go back .​

Very disappointing experience…read more We ultimately decided to leave The Academy of Westhaven because of the lack of communication, organization, and consistency we experienced from the very beginning. With an infant, communication is extremely important to us, and we rarely received meaningful updates about how our son's day was going. When I would ask a teacher at pickup how his day was, I was frequently told, "I don't know." If I asked when he had last eaten or how much he had consumed, I was often directed to check the app because the teacher didn't know either. For an infant, I found that extremely concerning and frustrating. We also experienced repeated issues with our son's belongings. We were given other children's bottles, clothes, and items, and our son's belongings would sometimes end up in other children's drawers. At one point, we were even told not to worry about putting his name on his things, which was confusing considering how often items were being mixed up. There were also multiple occasions where his bottles were forgotten when his backpack was packed. One experience that was especially concerning was arriving to pick up my son and finding him with a pacifier that belonged to another child. My son had stopped taking a pacifier after his first week, so I knew immediately that it was not his. I also frequently encountered teachers I had never met when picking him up, which added to the feeling that there wasn't much consistency in his care. After we expressed our concerns, we did start receiving more updates, but the organizational issues continued. We also received a photo through the app that appeared to be of a different child. That was extremely concerning to us--not only because it was clearly not our son, but because it made me question whether our child's photos or information could potentially be sent to another family. The office administrator told me that she checked everything before it was sent, which made the situation even more confusing. Overall, the experience felt very chaotic and overwhelming. It seemed like the staff were struggling to keep up with the number of children in their care. For the price we were paying, we expected a much higher level of communication, organization, consistency, and attention to detail. At times, it felt more like an overpriced daycare than the level of care and education we were expecting from an academy. I also work with members of the local community, and several clients independently shared with me that they had been unhappy with their own experiences there and ultimately moved their children elsewhere. I cannot personally speak to experiences I did not witness, so I won't repeat those allegations as facts, but hearing similar concerns from multiple families did reinforce our decision to leave. We chose to leave before our concerns became something more serious because, as parents, we would rather make a change early than wait for something to happen that could have been prevented. We simply wanted our son to be somewhere that was organized, communicative, consistent, and where we felt confident that he was being cared for and known by the people taking care of him. Unfortunately, The Academy of Westhaven did not give us that confidence.

I can also say I am not the only parents with this experience. I was recently told that they have stuck the woman who was the cook in the class as a teacher and the admin are now preparing all the meals. What they are doing with all the tuition I have no idea but its not going into the kids.
