My son has been going to ALC now for over 2 years, and I can honestly say I wouldn't want him going anywhere else! They have flexible schedules for those parents that don't need their child to go everyday. The staff is amazing and so caring about my son in and outside of school. They really pay attention to the children's' needs and always make adjustments accordingly. They have all kinds of activities during and after school that make it fun for the parents as well. My son has NEVER not wanted to go to school. Even though he only goes a couple of days a week, he is always asking me when he can go next. He loves his teachers and every single person on the staff. As a working single mom, it's hard to leave him, but I always feel good about what he's doing/ learning when I drop him off at ALC. read more

I really can't say enough about the staff. There are so many wonderful and loving caregivers working there. It feels like every staff member in the building knows my little boy and greets him cheerfully every day. His primary teachers know him really well and make great observations about his behavior and personality. I felt great about going back to work because I knew he would receive great care. I also appreciated that they offer a variety of flexible plans, so it was easy for me to transition from half day care to full day care when I went back to work. Addressing the concern about employees and English skills, there are several employees who were born in other countries and for whom English is clearly a second language. I was actually really pleased to see that my son would be exposed to such a diverse group of people so early in life. I've never had trouble communicating about his needs and his pediatrician was blown away by his verbal skills at his last well visit, so I know his language development is just fine. I have zero direct knowledge of the staff pay, so I can't address concerns about staff being underpaid. I certainly hope that isn't the case because they are wonderful. read more

This place is horrible! Food is cheap and unhealthy, employees are inexperienced, underpaid, and don't speak English. (3 employees however are wonderful people). Overpriced! Take your child to NCS. We are so happy with them! read more

Bellevue ALC is great. Some of the women have been there for 10+ years, and I've always felt my children were safe and cared for. They've made improvements over the past year to remain competitive with the new place down the street. One of the things I like it that they have a lot of land behind the center and large playgrounds. We looked at Harpeth (can't remember the rest of the name of the new place), but your children are essentially playing in car exhaust when they are on the playground!! It's a tiny hill away from the street. I can think of exactly one person out of ALL of the wonderful women at Bellevue ALC who doesn't speak English well. She makes up for it by being great with the kids and is very very sweet. I have no idea how much they are paid and no one there is unprofessional enough to discuss it. My son and daughter started attending Active Learning Center in the summer of 2013. My son soon started kindergarten, while my daughter continued at ALC in the fall. I could not be happier, and would not send my daughter any where else! My daughter's teachers have been at her school for 14 and 20 years, and truly love and provide for her. I know that she is safe, nurtured, and well cared-for. The staff is also incredibly flexible and always there to serve our needs whenever there are changes in our schedules (i.e. snow days for my kindergarten son). The rooms are clean and well-organized. The staff is friendly and helpful. My daughter comes home singing new songs and playing new games, so it is obvious that they are giving the children lots of enriching activities! read more

Hi folks! My child is now 17 months old and has been enrolled at ALC since I returned to work from maternity leave. Throughout the period of time in which she has been enrolled at this facility I have become very displeased. I want to be very clear in stating that there are a few teachers there who are GREAT and were very GREAT at their jobs and this review is not personal towards them. It is simply an oversight of my experience with ALC in general. On numerous occasions, I received the daily report with false information. The nap time would always read 12-2 on every single sheet, every single day. As an attempt to see how accurate the information was that they were documenting, I picked her up early on the days that I could get off of work sooner.... only to find that she was still laying there asleep past 2 o'clock yet the form was already completed with the 12-2 time frame. Today...our last day....I pick her up early (at 2:45 to be exact) and there she is....sleeping....yet the daily report says 12-2 yet again! The reports also from time to time would have a diaper change written down when that time of day hadn't even gotten there yet. When asking why it was already prefilled I was told "because that's when she's due for a change". This is unacceptable to me. As a parent, I feel that it is very crucial to be able to trust and believe the feedback and documtation given on any child. Another issue I have had is the fact that my child was constantly sick while being there. While I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND that children often times get sick when in an environment full of other children, I certainly began to doubt the sanitation procedures there and if they were following through with them. There is also a HUGE LACK OF COMMUNICATION! Do not expect upper management or anyone else to send a notice when there is an outbreak of something! They can send a notice about a tuition increase however they can't pass the word along that there has been an exposure to a communicable disease. Their policy for a child returning to daycare after being sick is absolutely ridiculous and is in no way what so ever in compliance with the center for disease control. When a doctor says a child can't return to the facility for one week due to an illness they contracted there and the facility allows children to return in 24 hours, well to me, that speaks volumes and definitely explains why kids stay sick. I need for my child to attend daycare as much as the next person does so that I can work however my child's well being and health comes first and foremost! The staff also failed to complete the incident reports. I sent various complaints to management about not receiving a report when warranted. When first experiencing these problems I tried giving the benefit of the doubt! I expressed concerns to upper management with little to no resolution. Needless to say two weeks ago I gave them my two weeks notice and am removing my child from this facility. I will forever appreciate and remember the staff members at this location that worked well with the kids and took their job seriously. If you are thinking about enrolling your child in this facility, I would seriously recommend that you give it some more thought. Best wishes to everyone! read more

Very disappointed with my experience here, chastity being friendly at start is why I gave it 2 stars everything else was down hill. My son was in Jess' preschool class for moms day out hours. Not only was she less than inviting & short with us upon arrival but also rude when I picked him up. She didn't even give me a run down of the first day because she was at lunch, although sitting in the main entrance as we left she said no hello, good bye or a he did good! She didn't look up. When I got there, he was at the end of a 2 hour nap. Why would I want him back when he arrived at 9, went for a nap at noon pick up at 2pm. Only 3 hours of learning & play? I consider the misunderstanding of a" short nap" my fault. As I should have investigated better. However they shouldn't call it MDO. Moms don't want 4 year olds to nap 2 hours while at a fun environment right before picking them up. I would consider this a day care. And not a great one. Lacks curriculum & caring staff. read more

Can't say enough great things about ALC Bellevue. One of the first words my 18 month old learned was "skoo!" (trans., "school"), and he said it constantly, ready to head out for another day at ALC. His physical development and verbal skills have both taken off tremendously since he's been attending. The teachers are consistently professional and obviously have great fun with the kids. The building is clean, calm, and orderly. The only time my son cries around ALC is when he has to leave! read more
