Pros: Great staff…read more Great energy. Class members are supportive. Classes and workouts are easy to follow but always challenging. You'll never outgrow the system. The app allows you to track progress and has daily workouts easy to do at home. It's worth the money if you show up at least 5 days each week. Cons: There's a published "fine" for cancelling a class too late or no showing but the Timonium location has doubled it. This mostly affects the 6 & 7 am classes and early weekend classes. I will note if you have a one time legitimate reason to miss unexpectedly you can ask for forgiveness. Recently they've increased the class maximum size but the space the gym is in can't really handle the extra people and it often feels too crowded when they jam the class.

I went to this place as a guest for the first time as one my friend's recommended me to try a…read morecomplementary session at her gym. I truly hated the class, the coach was not motivating at all and the format was extremely basic. At the end they charged me 30$ for a 45 minute class. I took a Sproing class here with my ClassPass a couple of months ago. Sproing is TOUGH but lots of…read morefun! You're basically running on a soft-surfaced treadmill and doing lots of different exercises using your own body weight, free weights, bands, etc. You will be harnessed in so you don't go running off of the front of the machine. You get a heart rate monitor when you arrive. This way you can monitor your heart rate during the work out. Your heart rate and your name will appear on a screen in the studio, along with everyone else in the class. The instructor is really like a coach. She will tell you and others to push harder if your heart rate isn't in a certain zone, but she'll also let you know you should back off if your heart rate gets too high. PACE YOURSELF! Or you may end up light-headed and nauseated like me! Lots of explosive movements. This is definitely a high intensity interval training workout. The greatest difficulty for me is following the routine, like in any fitness class. I'm just not very coordinated. The work out is only 30-45 minutes, which is also nice. There's plenty of parking, but it's kind of awkward. The building where this is located is kind of nondescript and old, but you will find it pretty easily.

They have become my extended family by choice. I left this gym for approx 6 month on a freebie at another Crossfit gym. I signed up for the one week trial and had a great time! I was only able to attend four classes,…read morebut enjoyed each one. The instructors were really helpful and gave me some modification options. It would probably help to have some background knowledge of common lifts, but the instructors show the movements and they play on video screens if you need it. Everyone attending was generally in their own zone, so there isn't a lot of chatting because you really focus on getting the exercises done in the set times. I will say that the classes go by super quickly because you're always moving. Cons: The programming is set for the whole month. So each day of the week has its set program and you do that each week for the whole month. For me, this would get old (I really need variety). On the plus side, it does mean you get to see active gains throughout the month. The membership plan is a little pricey. I get why it costs so much, since they do have to cover rent and you only really attend during the class sessions. It isn't a type of gym where you just drop in when you want to use certain equipment. The unlimited monthly membership is $299, but in reality you are getting 30 or 31 classes depending on the month. Since the classes are the same all day, it is unlikely you would do two classes in a day, right? So the pricing is about $10/class if you do the unlimited monthly pass and you go every day. Some of the equipment was pretty smelly. I was at one station that honestly made me gag a little... I think the bench or maybe the dumbells had never been thoroughly cleaned with a bleach solution.

WSA Fitness practices bait and switch advertising. I saw an ad for a 6 week challenge on Instagram…read morewhich seemed intriguing and potentially fun. Of course, the ad was a bit misleading. Surprise, surprise. Now I don't mind paying for personal training or classes but they wanted a total of $699 up front as a "bet" that I would potentially get back if I lost, in my case, 5% of my body weight within the six weeks. First, pretty sure this joint doesn't have a gambling license. Second, they don't let you choose your personal goal or the amount you want to bet. This amount is ludicrous for a six week class and most people can't exactly afford to risk to lose that amount or even forfeit it for an amount of time. I didn't get to try the gym as my common sense had me walk out of that "orientation" but from what I saw it looked pretty dead and empty. They definitely have some shady business practices and need to be more up front in their ads.

I usually go to the Strength & Conditioning classes and I like alternating between strength and cardio unlike OTF classes, where you are on the treadmill for 30 min. straight-through (which I think would be horrible for the knees after a while...). I started with water aerobics, and in May I added EA Fit Club to challenge myself in a new way. In just 12 sessions, Eric Atherton has pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of while making sure the workouts can be adapted to different fitness levels. As someone who's 6'2" and larger than anyone else in my classes, I appreciate that I can work at my own pace while still being challenged every single class. I've never felt like I didn't belong or that the space wasn't made for me. I'm currently down 55 pounds overall, and EA Fit Club has helped me build strength, confidence, and consistency. Believe me, after every workout my body lets me know I put in the work--but that's exactly why I keep coming back. Eric is encouraging, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in seeing everyone succeed. If you're looking for a supportive community and a coach who will challenge you while meeting you where you are, I highly recommend EA Fit Club.
