Dr Fortune is the best doctor ever. She truly cares about her patients and takes time with them. Often you have to wait after your appointment time but she is well worth the wait for a doctor that truly takes her time to get to the route of the problem. read more

The portal doesn't allow you to message anyone. It says "Messaging feature of our patient portal has become problematic. While we figure out how to manage it, we have disabled incoming messaging". This has been going on for several months. Been going to Dr. Fortune for years, who is excellent, but hadn't seen her in 3 years. She wasn't available, so went to another doctor who recommended I take the Vestibular test. It was uncomfortable and made me sick. Then they said their equipment malfunctioned and I needed to come back to take the third part of the test again. Since I have to take work time off, I left a message to confirm whether this was really necessary. The message was never responded to. By the time I was able to get through I was told that "if the results weren't sufficient I would have been told so", but I couldn't have even a virtual appointment with the new doctor for 3 months. I had to ask whether there was a waiting list for cancellations, it wasn't offered. I asked whether I could see Dr. Fortune, and was told that since I hadn't seen her in 3 years I was a "new patient" and she wasn't seeing new patients. I was also not allowed to send a message to her asking for an exception since I have a significant history with her. This used to be a good practice, and I'm sure most of the people are doing the best they can under a system that is growing more dysfunctional all the time. But I can't recommend it anymore. read more

Horrible experience at their Washington DC office 2021 K street with Dr. Mitra Haeri and entire front office. After wrestling with slow Metro public transportation I arrived at 1:15 pm for my 1pm appointment - she not only refused to see me or reschedule but charged me $150 for being 15 minutes late. And won't give me another appointment until I pay up. Truly appalling!!!! read more

My husband was diagnosed with a autoimmune illness and I called the Silver Spring office and I was told that they did take our insurance and that she verified. The Neuro ophthalmologist spoke to Dr Jeffries personally and was told we would get a call to schedule a test. I was never called, so I called them. The rude receptionist or call center lady told me " oh, they had to call you to tell you that we do not take your insurance and we can't see you" I could have been looking for a different provider by this time. If people are scheduling appts is for a reason, not because we like visiting Doctors. They have no compassion or care. read more

Horrible customer service. I was told that I would be changed $250.00 for a visit that I canceled three times. Twice by text and once by phone call by pressing 2. The office will not give out the office manager's e-mail address nor let you speak with the doctor to discuss. I will not be returning to this office again. read more

My husband, who is going through Chemo, was only able to give an 18 hour notice that he would not be able to go to his doctors appointment that was made months before his recent cancer diagnosis. They are charging him $250 for not giving 24 hour notice! How very barbaric and unkind. Beware! We have no interest in a doctors office with no concern of their patients! read more

They gave my Dad an appointment, and when we showed up this morning, they informed him they didn't take his insurance (understandable) nor could he pay for the appointment, and the only reason given was company policy, and no one could explain why. My father is being treated by Dr Fortune who we love so much. He has been treated by her for some time now. The front desk staff in particular a young lady by the name Alva/Alma she has no respect nor people skills and lack of communication skills. My Mother called in today and just wanted someone to clarify my father's medication that should have been called in earlier last week. But instead of listening she continued to cut my mother off and in a vulgar disrespectful tone she wanted to tell my mother otherwise. Little did she know the phone call was on speaker and I can hear the entire conversation and I had to take over the call. I will be coming to the office to make a formal complaint in person. This is isn't the first we have experience this type of behavior with the front desk but the first I have spoken of it and I am tired of it read more

AVOID THE WHITE OAK OFFICE AT ALL COSTS. If I could give 0 stars I would. Totally unprofessional and unhelpful front staff. We were desperate to get to a Neurologist (Johns Hopkins wait is so long) so came here. DONT DO IT! Waste of time, waste of money. It's been 7 days since the visit where I was supposed to get a doctors not. I've been calling twice a day and still don't have the note. The manner in which the lady at the front desk spoke to me today, after letting me sign in for my appointment some minutes after it had originally been scheduled, was unacceptable. I arrived a few minutes late (no more than 15), but technically my appointment had been scheduled before the office actually opens for business. I was supposed to see Dr. Jeffries, but apparently there is NO wiggle room whatsoever...if you don't show up exactly at the time of your appointment, they'll have you reschedule, but not before rudely letting you know, "YOUR APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR ____ A.M." I'm not sure if the lady up front was having a bad morning, but I was pissed that she took my $40 co-payment, then after the fact she informed me she would have to reschedule my appointment. She did quickly give me a receipt showing she had corrected that, and refunded my card. I just didn't like how I had to drive through traffic to get here, and couldn't even reach the office by phone while I was on my way, to let them know I was running a few minutes late but intended to arrive, because their regular business hours start at 8 a.m.. How are you going to schedule someone for 7:45 a.m., for example, if you don't open before 8 a.m.? I had also filled out a lengthy questionnaire online for them to avoid having to fill these documents out at the office on the morning of the appointment. They made a copy of my insurance card and ID and everything. I curtly let her know I would reschedule, but with another neurologist, at a whole other location. I don't care how bad a day you're having...when you're customer service it doesn't give you the right to be mean, rude, and nasty to people. I am kind of glad I didn't see Dr. Jeffries, now that I think about it, if this is the manner his front office staff treat people. read more

Somehow my first review disappeared, no problem, I'll just write another. If I could have rated this place a negative I would have. Dr. Jeffries is average at best; he doesn't always actively listen to his patients, or is he able to diagnose issues correctly. He completely missed the fact I had multiple sclerosis and kept trying to say it's sleep apnea. A significantly different problem, wouldn't you say? Second and more important is how the office operates. The front office reception staff are allowed by management to bully, harangue, harass and humiliate patients in the waiting room for various reasons, such as having a bill and being late. I personally have spoken to the office manager about these two women's behavior and treatment of patients and all he did was justify the bad behavior. So, you can deduce this bad behavior is condone. The management apparently believes its their right to belittle and embarrass clients to get what they want out of them. It's actually quite shocking and the doctors that are there aren't even the best of the best to justify putting up with that sort of thing. Listen, don't bother with this place. There is an awesome, awesome neurologist in maple lawn....Dr. G. She was the one who actually has the capability and correctly diagnosed the MS. Go see her, she is not only a spectacular neurologist but her office staff dont act like she beasts put on the earth to harass and humiliate patients. Her staff are polite, considerate and understanding human beings. read more

Dr. Jeffries is an excellent neurologist. He literally saved my husband's life by diagnosing a cancerous tumor that other doctors had called anything from bursitis to a bad back. He will work as hard as necessary to help with dealing with dementia rather than giving up as some doctors have. The office sometimes gets overloaded but the staff does try their best (and they are good!) to solve problems and keep the schedule going. read more

I was talking on the phone w/ a friend who happens to be an EMT. I thought I was having a stroke. He said, "Call 911". I did. Ambulance came. went to Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring. Dr. Brian Avin diagnosed me w/ MS. This was 2004, I think. We tried Avonex. Cost $1000 for first month. I went to Open Season at Montgomery County Government. They said, "Go to CVS Caremark booth." I did. They charged $5 a month. Dr. Avin retired. Dr. Taryn Fortune is fabulous as well. I swim, walk, eat only organic. I have no pain. Only slight veering when I walk. I want to sign up for clinical studies. I highly recommend The Neurology in Wheaton,MD. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Jeffries for about 8 years. He has been wonderful to me. He listens to my unending list of questions, is very patient with me, and has helped me so much. My parents were both his patients and the time he took with them to explain the results of the different tests he had them get was commendable. Dr. Jeffries would go over thhe tests over & over until they understood what was going on. Both of them had dementia, so this did take some time. I have recommended him several times. read more

I am a patient of Dr. Fortune and I don't regret choosing her as my neurologist! She is caring, attentive, and knows her stuff (obviously). Dr. Fortune really cares about the well-being of her patients and their treatments. I never have too long of a wait for appointment times and I definitely don't feel rushed during the process as with some specialists. read more

scheduled an appointment with Dr. Fortune. did forms on portal per phone call telling using to come at least 30 minutes early for the appointment. got to the office at 10:35am for an 11:30am appointment. signed in at front desk where no one even looked up. sat around until 11:05 and went up to desk to ask about doing any additional forms. lady took insurance information and gave me a 5 paged questionnaire to fill out which was returned at 11:15am. sat around until 11:55am and went up again to find out if the appointment had been dropped. lady said doctor was busy and I told her we would wait 5 minutes and then leave. at 12:05pm went up and told lady we were leaving. she said doctor was still busy and could see us in 15 to 20 minutes. I told her we had been there for 1.5 hours. she said the appointment was for 11:30am and it was not her fault that we came at 10:35am so obviously she was not aware of the phone call telling us to come at least 30 minutes early. another physician came out to see a patient who had just arrived and when I confronted him with the fact that we had been there for an hour and a half he absolved himself by saying we were not his patients, even though his name was on the wall of attending physicians. so we never saw Dr. Fortune. this place gets a one star rating for poor attitude, front desk attitude, lack of attention to detail, and questionable patient care. if they can't take care of the front desk operation how good can patient care be? read more

I go to this office that has now moved to White Oak. The doctors I've had have all been good but the organization as a whole is a mess. Every time I try to get a prescription refilled I need to call in no less than 5 times and I am not exaggerating. This is why you experience such long hold times. Everything is extremely inefficient. I am now dealing with a prescription where the person that answers the phone tells me they will tell the doctor and also give me a call back and the script never gets filled and I don't get a call back. Writing in the "patient portal" does nothing. As you can tell I am extremely frustrated. All I see them for is migraines. This didn't used to be this way. Maybe they have grown too big. Once, during the multiple phone calls, I offered to have my wife come get the prescription at their office. They said that was okay. She arrived and then the receptionist scolded her for arriving too soon and my wife was shocked. There was a period of about a month where their electronic records system went down. They had no access to any patient records. That means no prescriptions, no appointments, nothing. During this time all they had was an answering service. I begged to talk to someone about refilling a prescription I was out of and they would not let me talk to the doctor. I ended up having to go to my general doctor to get the prescription. I have no way of knowing if these problems are with Dr Fortune herself (my Doctor) or the help or both. Here's another good one. Once I called to get a prescription and again nothing happened for many days. I called back to find out the doctor was on vacation! There are so many doctors there they could easily give the request to another and in fact I have seen another doctor there. This is disorganization at its peak. read more

My daughter sustained a concussion while at the University of Maryland. She was referred to this center (actually, there are a few of them) by the University for treatment of her concussion.My daughter went here for treatment after suffering a concussion. The doctor doubted that my daughter had been drugged and that she sustained a concussion, even after my daughter was referred to the Center by the University of Maryland's Health Center for treatment. The doctor instead insisted that there "was no evidence of her being drugged" and that she "could not have sustained a concussion by hitting her head on the sidewalk from a seated position". When I asked the doctor why she doubted my daughter's statement, she said that the EEG was "normal". Well, any concussion specialist could tell you that an EEG should not have even been ordered (an MRI had been done at the hospital ER) and that a concussion would almost never show up in an EEG. Any doctor will also tell you that a concussion is a blow to the head, and that a blow to the head could be sustained from a seated position. The doctor instead treated my daughter for headaches, prescribing some very old-fashioned anti-depressants that made my daughter extremely sleepy. When I asked the CEO of the medical center to explain the treatment (both the medical and professional- shall I say UNprofessional- treatment) the CEO indicated that they do not have a concussion specialist on staff. So, why didn't they just say so instead of treating my daughter for headaches she did not have? The doctor, actually a D.O., brought a little too much of her own upbringing into the medical treatment. I My daughter felt ashamed about being drugged by someone after talking to this doctor. read more

I have been a patient of Doctor Eric Jeffries for almost ten years. I appreciate and trust the Doctor Jeffries' professionalism, dedication, and straight forward approach. Doctor Jeffries spends time conducting evaluations and answers all of my questions as well as my husband, who is my caretaker. I am also a patient of Doctor Linda Sapin, who heads the neuropsychology Division. My experience with her has been very positive as well. Doctor Sapin is very helpful in explaining her testing processes and how the impact your everyday functions. Both doctors are responsive and accessible, via phone if you have a question. In addition the front office staff has been great, specifically Cindy and "Cici", the office manager. Both ladies are able to respond many questions, search for resources, and assist with insurance questions. In addition Cici has been instrumental in my recent relapse. She managed to schedule a last minute medical treatment, which really helped me. read more
