After spending most of my visit talking about his own personal life and telling me that I looked to be in great shape (weird), he told me that I probably had no cause for concern (despite my discomfort and issues I was having with my body health) and just told me to go get blood and urine work done. I listened and did just that. The results came back pretty clean so I thought there was no cause for concern. 3 weeks later, my symptoms worsened so I called him on a Saturday to ask if there was any medicine I could take or if he could possibly prescribe me antibiotics to help me with an infection. He was very curt, blunt and rude over the phone telling me that I wasn't listening to him and if I wanted his opinion to just take it. He told me to go to urgent care so they could tell me what was wrong. Oh not to mention that he made sarcastic/snide remarks about asking me if I had multiple sexual partners without any sensitivity toward my situation. He was more interested in sounding sarcastic and lackadaisical than concerned. I wonder if he treats all his patients and even his own kids this way. If a Primary Care Physician can't even prescribe antibiotics, ever tell me what's wrong with my body and will lack any and all empathy when addressing me health concerns, what good is he? Seems like Dr. Gupta would be better suited to just being a guidance counselor since all he's interested in is discussing what he did over the weekend instead of offering any helpful medical advice or solutions. Not sure if he's past his prime, but these days, Dr. Gupta, you need some empathy and patience when speaking with folks. It's called being kind. If you're going to be rude because I "need to listen what I'm telling you to do and just take my opinion you called me for" when I'm clearly concerned and in pain, then you clearly have other issues. Never going back to this "doctor". Read the other poor reviews he has. It checks out. Seems like it's time for him to check out and hit the retirement stride.

At that point I thought to myself I've had enough of this self-aggrandizing schmuck -- and that afternoon I scheduled an appointment with another orthopedic surgeon. This guy radiates lack of interest in you or your pain. I don't expect miracles from a doctor, nor do I expect him or her to become my BFF -- but a do expect, and think I deserve, at least a minimal degree of empathy. They are unmistakably driven by profit over patient care, and are a perfect encapsulation of what's wrong with the American medical industry. I had 1 appointment with Dr. Keeling. He was late. He then rushed through our appointment as fast as humanly possible, spending maybe 6 or 7 minutes with me. He told me I had some medical-jargon-named condition in my knee, and that I should start PT in their PT office ASAP, ideally that day. He then tried to leave at the point in the appointment where a good doctor would then sit and talk me through the condition, what I should do, what I should expect, etc. But no, he didn't even tell me the used name (arthritis), and provided no helpful advice or guidance going forward. He just wanted me signed up for PT and he wanted the appointment OVER. So I got home and had to google all of the information that a good doctor would have provided, and, ya know, trust that what I'm finding on the internet is sound medical advice. That would have been enough for a 1-star review, but there's more scumbaggery. Within days of the appointment, I started receiving urgent emails from their office claiming I had an Overdue Balance with them. After getting 5 or 6 of these emails without having gotten a physical bill for them for anything, I called in (they don't have an email address). The woman who answered assured me that the physical bill had been sent out and I would see it in a few days at the most. Several MONTHS go by, and I receive nothing except more urgent emails. Today, the physical bill finally arrived 3 months after the appointment. The bill claims a SECOND co-payment is owed, and that I am 60 days past due. It's this kind of used-car-salesmen nonsense that keeps people, in general, hesitant to go to doctors at all. So my advice would be to stay far, far away from this profit center and Dr. Keeling.

Also, the post-op included a lot of difficulty handling pain, finding the right perscription, and getting it filled through insurance... And he was very solicitous and available to help with that very circuitous process too!

He's an ok doctor, if you're not a black person. A few times he's ignored the symptoms of why I've…read moregone to see him. I had a weird skin grown on my hand and his recommendation was to use more lotion. WTF?! I need medication for ADHD. none of the other formulations have worked for me in the past, so for a whole I gave up. I recently went back and requested the same exact medication that my kids use. It works well for them. He wanted to start me off at a very low dose. I informed him that dosage was even lower than what my daughter uses, and she weighs less than a third of what I weigh. I may not be a doctor, but I do know simple, chemistry, body weight matters in regards to chemicals and medication. He refused and started me at 15 mg. My very small daughter takes 20. I don't blame him for this next part. The insurance company refused to pay for it without prior authorization, despite them having been paying for this stud for my kids for the last few years. But I do blame him for not wanting to do the prior authorization. It's a simply bloody fax. When I went back this week for my 30 day follow up, I requested to have 30 mg. He tells me it's going to require prior authorization again because he's changing the dosage and if they ask for prior authorization again, he can't do it because he doesn't have the manpower. It takes too much effort. His exact damn words. I said to him, I told you this would be a problem. I told you I wanted to start at 30 to begin with. He snapped at me and tells me if I raise my voice at him he's going to kick me out. Mind you, I wasn't yelling. But of course, a black person being upset is like yelling at a non-black person. We are always perceived as a threat. Time to find a new doctor.
