Contracted Covid on December 22. About 5 days in I started getting concerned and decided to call an…read moreambulance to take me to the hospital. Stayed most of the day there and before I left they gave me an anti viral drip which was to be followed up At Washington Adventist Hospital for 2 more days. On the 4th dayI got my appetite back. Ann Crystal and Brandy took great care of me and explained everything I needed to know. Thank you ladies for all you do. You have no idea what your true professionalism meant to me. Jim

Wow. Where do I start. This hospital ER I was in frequently for pain after a car accident…read more Eventually they saw me enough they must have labeled me a "pill seeker". I was in and out and got into it with a nurse after they tried to imply that I was there to get pills for the millionth time. They tell you to go to the ER if it's an emergency you know? And this is the treatment we get. I refused to take another pain pill to help the pain and thought they would help. I needed like Tordol and they kept asking me a million questions and paid no attention to my medication regimen. I was on A LOT of medications and was in the process of being ripped off all my meds. So I'm guessing I looked psychotic or like an addict. I don't get it. I was 16 years STONE COLD SOBER. I was looking for quality pain relief. The nurse blew up at me and never came back. I'm sure there are notes in my file now. And the fact that I'm bipolar in my file, I'm actually not after all these years. I'm guessing a lot of the medical staff thought I was just "mentally unstable" because I was labeled bipolar. They SWEAR they don't treat people with that label differently. It's a crock. So as I was in and out of the ER, a new psychiatrist was ripping me off psych meds that should have been tapered over 9 or more months. Then they stopped the Hydrocodone and Diazepam at pain management. The doctor I was seeing gave me 2 weeks supply. When I ran out I was cold turkeyed. NO ONE told me you cannot just stop pain meds and I didn't realize Diazepam is Valium. So I was ending up in the ER when my psychiatrist cut me off Klonopin. It was an emergency and again, I was treated like an addict and questions were asked like, "where is your doctor?" Like I remember exhibiting symptoms of AKATHISIA and I was screaming and crying and some nurse was just like "awe, poor baby, what's wrong?" NO ONE IN YOUR HOSPITAL EVER PICKED UP ON THE AKATHISIA I HAVE HAD FOR OVER 5 YEARS now! JUST NEGLIGENCE and MALPRACTICE from most of the ERs in the DMV area. If you're labeled bipolar, I noticed you are treated like you're mentally ill and the symptoms are psycho somatic. It's a nightmare what I've been through. NO ONE PICKED UP on the AKATHISIA. I paced and paced. I couldn't sit still. I couldn't calm down. The agitation was horrific. Just terror and torment. You all are supposed to HELP, not treat patients like trashy junkies! Especially when they say they have 16 YEARS STONE COLD SOBER! Wasn't looking to go to the street to get Klonopin. We came to you for help so many times just to get shit care where no one reviewed my meds or put together that I had in actuality been ripped off 9 meds by the time I ended up screaming and crying in your ER. Just negligent. Spend more time with your patients. I see the TikTok videos of nurses and doctors who think everyone is a stereotype. How they handle patients without a care in the world. Try Routine checks and actually talking to the patient. No one sat and listened to me. The ER system in the US is a tragedy unless you're a millionaire. You wonder why there are SO MANY one star reviews. And I've now seen videos of nurses doing things like saying "if you load the syringe like this, they won't get Akathisia." There are some sick people working in this industry who probably should have rethought the whole nursing or meds school. But that's what's expected every time I go to an ER around here. With things like a gallbladder they know what they are doing, but when it comes to psych meds, opioids, and Benzos, y'all are slow. Akathisia from withdrawals? Nope. Not even recognized by people who are supposedly trained medical professionals. Most of them have never heard of it. Real tired of people treating me like an active addict. Had another doctor while I stayed in the hospital at Holy Crap, they cut my Gabapentin dose from 1800 to 500mg. When the doctor finally showed up I was exhausted and was having Akathisia which they dismissed and didn't deal with properly. Sleeping medications were cut and I was given crap like Benadryl which did next to nothing. It was horrific. One nurse got on my case and when I told her I could go into withdrawals she just said "I know" and carried on. I was having a horrible time getting to sleep because it's the hospital and I wasn't given the proper meds. It was just a shitshow that seems to follow me everywhere I go. In May, we tried Suburban and the doctors there were clueless and made me wait hours to be seen!
