After the chocolates I brought back from my earlier Brussels trip was so well received, I made sure to introduce Neuhaus to my SO during our June trip. This store was one of the smaller ones we visited but its proximity to the Grand Place made it the obvious choice to duck into and escape the heatwave and indulge. I liked this store in particular since the staff were always warm and outgoing. They also were very generous in the sampling ;) Our newest favorite flavor was the calamansi Sensation. It was dark chocolate wrapped around dark chocolate ganache but with a very distinctive calamansi citrus flavor. We love calamansi and never imagined tasting it as part of a praline. If you really want to try it then go now since it will only be available during the summer! Lastly as part of their frequent buyer program, the store includes free samples to go. Staff just need to scan your Neuhaus Insider QR code and that's it. SO's taste buds agreed Neuhaus was the Belgian chocolatier on this trip and we'll be back. read more

Do you like chocolate? Well this is one if not the best chocolate house in Brussels. From the time you walk in it's a sensory experience. Visually it's amazing with all the chocolate and options you have to chose from. Yes it's not inexpensive but quality chocolate is well worth it. Had to stop at multiple chocolate shops on my trip to Brussels and this is a can't miss. The chocolates here are so decadent and tasty. They have pre packaged boxes as well ones where you can create your own package as well. I bought a box of 12 pre packaged milk chocolates for around 25 euros. Good spot for chocolates. I've been fortunate enough to have these chocolates before, and they're delicious. Came as they opened on a Sunday morning to bring some home for friends to taste. They are not cheap, but of the 16 piece sampler, not a single one was bad, they were all delicious. Chocolates are good, but one of their larger dark chocolate triangular classics had an unusually hard bottom layer. The milk chocolate version of the same didn't have quite the same level of hardness and consequently was easier to cut/eat/share. Not sure it that was a fluke in this batch? Staff are friendly and this location is big enough to not feel crowded. Overall very tasty, but the smallest box I think was still 250 grams or something about twice the size of what I needed! read more

My daughter recently came back from Belgium were she went to Neuhaus And bought some dark chocolate covered orange peel for me. Although i did not actually go to the store, I did eat the chocolate and it was totally delicious. Just delightful! This place had, by far, the best chocolate (out of 6 different stops) I could find in Brussels/Belgium! My favorite is the "les irresistables", these oblong pyramid shaped chocolates with handmade nougatine inside, even though they're like $2.50 each! Different flavors are offered for the mousse/ganache that's inside the nougatine, like hazelnut, chocolate, or raspberry. Caprice is my ultimate favorite; it has Madagascar vanilla cream, and the outside of the candy is dark chocolate. Fun fact: it was created for the World Exhibition in Brussels in 1958. I found that the BRU airport had Neuhaus boxes for 30% less than in the actual shops. Unexpected! read more

First time here! I'm so glad I found this store in the few hours we had in Brussels. Saw this advertised at the duty free shops at the airport in Brussels & couldn't wait to get my hands on one of them. This is the first chocolate company founded in Belgium in 1850. It remains to be the most favorite of the locals and internationals. I had the opportunity to try the pralines, darks & the marzipan & ended up spending €160 euros of chocolates to take back to the US. That's one year's worth of chocolates for me. And who knows I might be back here sooner than I expect! Btw, it's a bit cheaper buying this from the actual stores than at the airport. Plus more selections that you won't find at the duty free shops. They have both alcohol free & wine infused chocolates. Unfortunately there's no such thing as "free samples" but I asked the clerk a few questions and gave me two free samples of the praline & marzipan. Of course, this was after he saw my cart with several items in it after spending 45 minutes browsing at every product they had in the store. But caution coz once you try something you really like, you'll be so eager to pull out your credit card that you'll forget you're paying in euros. Lol! But it's worth it! Hey you're in Belgium, home of the finest chocolates in the world! How often do you get to come here? The store has an attractive display of their chocolates and it's presented like jewelry! The other stores do it the same way and it's hard to choose. If you come across this place, my advice is to try a few items from each shop. The staff here are so friendly and helpful. They came around and offered samples to try and answered all our questions and then left us alone to shop in peace. Why can't everyone be like this?! There's so many different truffles to mix and match by the pound. They also sell chocolates from a variety of brands and there are some great souvenir chocolates, including letter block chocolate. read more

Jean Neuhaus and his wife invented the praline back in 1857 (?) and the company has been getting it right ever since! These are my favourite chocolates in the world, bar none! I am a chocaholic and absolutely adore pralines (bite-size chocolates with nuts in the mix) and neuhaus makes the very best in the world. Ok, I'm repeating myself. But really, just go get some (or ask to try one) and try, just try not to have a second one. They're divine!!! The best thing to come out of Brussels!! (after speculoos LOL) And given that the Grand Place shop is open till late (9pm and onwards on Saturday night) it's also a great backup-gift-spot for those who aren't so much into beer. The nicest salesperson kindly told me the story of the oldest pralines shop in Brussels. The original shop was actually a pharmacy and the pharmacist was innovating a way to make the bitter medicine go down easier.
