I pretty much fainted in the emergency room, I had emergency surgery and I got dip charge today on Sunday at around 12 and at the hospital there is a courtesy phone, and the taxi drive home was 27 dollars and there was more traffic than on thursday night. I ask the taxi driver did i get swindled for a 43 dollar bill and he said I got ripped off on my previous trip. He ripped off a medical distressed customer. I was changing my tires to winter ones and needed a taxi to get to the shop to pick up my car around 4:00 yesterday afternoon. I called them at a quarter to four. With no taxi showing up I called them again at 4:10. Busy girl: "Hello, I ordered a taxi twenty minutes ago. When will it arrive?" Distant hollow male voice: "which number did you call?" Busy girl: "this number!?!?!" Distant hollow male voice: "are you sure?" Busy girl: "yes, it is on my phone. I just hit redial to call you again." Distant hollow male voice: "OK what is your address?" Busy girl (reluctantly gives her address again): "but when will it arrive?" Distant hollow male voice: "give me five minutes." Not sure what "me" meant and whether the man was personally coming, but regardless at 4:23, which is 13 minutes later and some 38 minutes after my first call, I got tired of waiting and walked to the bus stop, which is what I should have done to begin with and for less than $5 arrived a 10-minute walk from the shop at which my car was waiting. You figure that in the age of Uber and Lyft these taxi companies would upgrade themselves or at least get a taxi out to customers.
