Time Wasters is true. I contacted Mike (516-398-2823) from a craigslist "apartments by owner/no fee" posting. Didn't know i was contacting a broker until several calls and emails later. 2 days wasted going back and forth with this ne'er do well. I go to our 1st appointment, only to get a call that they can't show it at that time. Reschedule for the next morning, then at midnight i get an email to reschedule again. Second time, he's not there again. Worse, I call him and he says I have the wrong number (doesn't he know i can check what number dialed?!) Determined, I called the other number listed on craigslist, turns out to be the building super who happily showed me the apt. Neon Realty offices close at 5PM, my appt was at 6:30 but I call Mike again to leave a message that I'm interested. Call the offices in the AM only to have him tell me the apartment had been rented the day before. Since he had been staying in touch, making it seem like he wanted to get me in, I thought it was ok, but now it feels like they were just playing a game. Can't say they are crooks because it takes actual effort to rip someone off, but they do steal apartment hunting time. read more
