To be fair to Kim, I scheduled too many realty appointments yesterday and flaked out on my meeting with her. I ended up being about 50 minutes late. And, boy, could I tell she was annoyed! Ok, my bad... She had one apartment to show me over at Five Corners. So, she drives me over there, all the while acting very curt. We walk up to the front door of the place, open the door, and the floor has been re-laminated or whatever. Point being that we weren't supposed to be walking on it. So, she asked me to poke my head in and try and gauge whether it would be a good fit for me. It would have been, but I was on a tight time crunch, and needed to line something up that day. So, I couldn't go into the one apartment she "showed" me, and she seemed kind of annoyed with my presence the whole time. read more

Kim Parshley is terrible at her job. When my wife and I were leaving our last place, I was put in charge, by the owner of the house of texting Kim about it to get it back on the market. So I texted her. Would hear back infrequently, but just enough to suggest there was a modicum of care for her job. She asks if she can have people over to look at it, I say yes, we work out a date when I'm not there. Presumably she was unsuccessful with getting takers for the apartment, so what does she do? Talk shit about our place looking messed up to the owner of the house, who was an unstable woman to begin with. If Kim simply could have found someone to buy it instead of talking trash behind me and my wife's back about how dirty she claimed it was and trying to excuse her own inability to sell a place by passing the buck to imaginary issues, I wouldn't be writing a one-star review. read more

Before we walked in to Halvatzis Realty and talked to Kim, we were ready to give up. No brokers in Astoria had treated us well or showed us decent places. They were all late or didn't return phone calls or acted like we were wasting their time since we weren't spending 2 grand on a one bedroom. Then we met Kim. Kim immediately started calling landlords to find someone who would accept us with our dogs. She was personable and professional--two things I didn't see in many other realtors. We sincerely appreciated the effort she put into finding us an apartment in Astoria that was a good fit for us as a young couple with dogs. I would HIGHLY recommend this place over any other broker in Astoria. The only other broker who came close was Antonio at A1 Realty (he was very nice and helpful, just didn't find the right fit for us). Go to Halvatzis Realty. You won't be disappointed. read more

First of all if I'm pissed off enough to create an account JUST to write a bad review then clearly I'm deeply upset by this situation. Also, to be clear, the only reason I even gave 1 star was because that was the least number of stars I could give. This was by far the worst most traumatizing experience of my life. I was moving out of my parents house for the first time and not only did I get screwed over by my roommate but the real estate agent at this establishment is the most unprofessional person I have ever met. She was late for every single appointment we had. She found me an apartment I couldn't live in because I'm highly allergic to cats and then told me I was effing crazy when I asked for the realtor fee back since she didn't do her job. She was screaming and cursing at me and speaking on behalf of the landlord threatening to sue me several times meanwhile the landlord was nice and cordial about my situation since it was such a serious health issue. She swore she had a great relationship with the landlord but had no idea that the landlord purchased a kitten. The realtor gave half my money back to my roommate even though the receipt I received from her was clearly in my name for the security deposit. Meanwhile continuing to threaten to sue me for a years rent (event though the apartment had already be re rented and she was in no position to sue since that is up to the landlord to do so not her) and at which point my roommate from hell would've been responsible for 1/2 a years rent as well. Then she lied to me and said that I didn't pay for first months rent or realtor fee and wasn't even entitled to half my security deposit that I had a receipt for. Needless to say her and my roommate managed to screw me over. The way I see it my ex roommate owes me money for living in the apartment for an entire month and I suspect she also used the same realtor to get a free apartment since I would no longer move in with her. My biggest lesson learned was never to delete important text messages because once I thought I was moving into the apartment I didn't think I would need to keep records of our conversations where I stated I was allergic to cats. Also don't move in with people you don't know! And for the love of God don't let Kim Parish try to find you an apartment unless you want a headache!!! She only cares about the money and just wants cash for everything! read more

Called and left messages for Kim at the main office, on her cellphone and even stopped by in person to see if I could catch her and she never returned any of my messages. If you don't have anything to show me at least do the polite thing and say that in a 30 second return phone call. read more

i didn't end up renting from kim, but saw a few apartments with her. i called kim first, because she was the most highly recommended broker on astorians.com. she was very nice and helpful, and gave us many good tips on astoria renting (she warned us of a specific overbearing landlord in another building, which was actually shown to us by a different broker the next day). however, she didn't have much inventory in our budget, and lazily tried to claim that the mediocre apt over 10 minutes from the subway was the best we were going to find (not true, my roommates and i ended up finding an awesome spot with taso from astoria apartments). also, she never followed up; i did not hear from her after our our first meeting. if i had more budget flexibility, i think i would have had better luck with her. although my own experience was unimpressive, i would definitely recommend giving her call. read more

I found their broker John to be very unethical. I saw an apartment and told him John that I wanted it. When I asked what I needed to do to lock it in, like paying a deposit, he asked me to send over my roommate to meet the owner, and if she approved, then we'd sign all the papers. So I went home thinking we had a deal. My roommate arranged to come three days later. But before she could get there, the apartment was rented out to someone else. When I called John to complain, I found his attitude to be cavalier and unprofessional. Will be staying away from this company in the future! read more

Having been in the market to buy a house in Astoria/LIC for the same period, I can safely say that I know and have had relationships with almost every broker in the area. If you're interested in buying or selling George should be your number one choice. From a seller's point of view, he can very quickly provide a short list of serious purchasers who have no interest in wasting your time. From a buyer's point of view he will help you learn about the market and find the right investment. He's neither aggressive, and won't give up on you. It took our family a long time but we finally found a great place. At the end of the day George will be happy if you and your family meet your goals. I would watch out for Kim. She found me a nice apartment but with a bum landlord; she said that he was "great," but he is a slumlord. For the amount one pays in fees, your realtor should be advocating for you and she does not do that. read more

We went to Halvatsis because we were in a bind. I had a major and rather disturbing confrontation with my landlord that could have turned physical. We went to Halvatsis on high recommendations from several people and spoke to Kim. I spoke to her on the phone and it just didn't feel right so I called her the next day to set up a meeting. I practically had to beg her. She had less than 15 minutes and proceeded to ask a series of really inappropriate questions. She knew about the confrontation with our landlord and the details above and yet asked if we could reconcile. She even told us to go to several realtors. I mean do you want my business or not. While we were waiting for Kim, George was in the back putzing around and totally ignoring us. I think Kim was ready to throw us to the wolves. We went to Millenium Realty and they found us the perfect apartment. Stay away from Halvatsis if you're serious about finding a good apartment. They are highly unprofessional. read more

In Astoria, you basically have to go through a broker unless you spend tons of time looking (and waiting and wading through CL). I went through 4 brokers and simply settled on the apartment we liked the most. We didn't sign a lease since Kim re-assured us that rent wouldn't be raised even though I knew this was too good to be true (rent was raised a little over a year later which would be the same had we signed a 1 yr lease). I did grill her on about the landlord. For the broker fee paid she (and all other realtors) should know them better. So basically if you can, meet the landlord because all the realtors are generally the same and some even have the same inventory. read more
