We were in the vicinity and had heard good things. First impression, the people were very friendly and the vibe of the customers was positive. We ordered the Fish Dinner: $15.99 for 2 fillets and 2 sides. We ordered onion rings and mac 'n' cheese. I thought the fish batter was very nicely seasoned and flavorful. But I was disappointed in how thin the fillets were. Not very meaty. The onion rings were just ok, tasted like a "frozen from a box" ring rather than hand made on site. The mac 'n' cheese was pretty tasty. We were there at 4pm on a Sunday, and they had a nice steady stream of customers. I'm glad for that, and glad we tried it. But I don't think we'll go back. A bit high priced for what we got. read more

Saw all the Wichita foodies suggesting this place so our family decided to give it a try. Family of 5 so we had a big order. We expected a bit of a wait. Was 20 min, which wasn't too bad. Ordered a burger, chick sandwich, big back sandwich. Chicken club and a kids meal. The burger was very thin but had a lot of flavor. Fries were okay. The fact that they were hand cut was a plus. Flavor was a little bland. Big back sandwich had a pork chop on it. It was extremely over cooked and tough. Kind of killed the sandwich. Now the chicken sandwich and the club sandwich were amazing!!! Both had so much flavor. Definitely be back for those. Service was good. Girl taking our order was polite. read more

Probably the best Wings in the city. I tried about 10 different flavors at one time and they were all perfect. The wings came out extra crispy and I didn't even have to ask. The amount of flavor each bite shows consistency in the kitchen. I didn't wait too long for my food to come out. This place was extra busy, which means they have the best food and the best service. The ambience is decent. Looks like they're still decorating, but I came for the food. read more

Family own business, which is a plus for me. Food was spot on! I ordered the land and sea dinner. The fish and okra was a 10/10!!! Very fresh and seasoned to perfection. The chicken was fried a little too hard for me, it still was good just super crunchy. The shrimp was ok, I did not care for batter of the shrimp 6/10. The lady cooking the food let me try Val's sweet heat, it was very good. They also offer a full bar with daiquiri machines available. It was too cold for me to have one but I definitely will when it gets warmer. I highly recommend giving this place a try, it's the best fried fish I've had thus far in Wichita. Next time I'm in town I'm coming straight here. read more

This place is the real deal. Food was fire. Staff was friendly and helpful. Vibe was chill and relaxing. Highly recommend!

(Because 5 stars just isn't enough!) My life has now been changed thank you, Nelson's Kitchen! Wow... these have to be the best green beans I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and full of Southern soul. The mac and cheese? Absolutely nailed it creamy, cheesy, and baked just right. It didn't miss a single step. But the real star? The catfish. Crispy on the outside, flaky and flavorful on the inside. Perfectly cooked and seasoned like someone's grandma was back there handling business. Nelson's Kitchen deserves way more than 5 stars. If you haven't been, stop what you're doing and go. Your taste buds will thank you! read more

The food is amazing! This is a locally owned minority business that creates and serves it with love ! 2025 Winner "Best Wings", in Wichita, KS. The owner takes her business seriously, if her for wings drops the wing order with less than her standard, she sells those wings to the public with full disclosure. Nothing but the best for her customers. I have had several things on the menu, wings and catfish, both have made my return trips very satisfying. read more

There was a young lady that seem like she could be the manager, but I noticed she was very extra attentive to customers needs. Kitchen staff looked very unprofessional. In the back on cell phones while around food overall the quality of the food was not too bad. Don't mind going back. It was on a Sunday when I visited... read more

The food was great. I would probably go back, they were just really busy when I went in. The food is great.

Went to Nelsons today @ 4:10pm at the 21st street location. I ordered smothered pork chops, wings, okra, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes. Once I arrived home, I opened the container to see the smothered pork chops I ordered had no gravy. They were thin, flat, extra crispy, and salty. The wings were room temperature. Macaroni and cheese was runny. Okra was decent. How can a restaurant be in business with no phone number listed? read more

Have only had it once, food was great like i thought it would be , staff was somewhat helpful . That being said there is no sense of urgency at all saw one couple wait 35 min for some wings, And the prices horrible , this is ridiculously overcharging people for ok food . $3.50 for small fries $4.50 for mashed potatoe side Place is a joke and probably wont be in business for long again ! read more

Got the wings, they were very meaty and seasoned beautifully, I just wish the ranch was a little better, but still worth getting
