I came here years ago and couldn't find it again. I remembered the friendly owner and fast service. Lo and behold I got his business card next door while getting an oil change. So here I am many years later getting another smog check. Price is great and reasonable, comparable to those around. read more

The smog check process itself was so quick and seamless. Waiting room area is clean and peaceful. They accept card but charge a small transaction fee, so bring cash if you can! Even though I live in the Cerritos/Lakewood area, I will be coming back here for my smog checks in the future. Highly recommend! read more

I can't say enough good things about Nelson Smog Test Only! From the moment I pulled up, the experience was smooth, professional, and stress-free. The gentleman who helped me was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient--he knew exactly what he was doing and took the time to explain the process clearly. What stood out most was the honesty and integrity. There was no upselling, no unnecessary add-ons--just a straightforward smog check done quickly and at a very fair price. The waiting area was clean and comfortable, and I was in and out in no time. I'll definitely be returning here for all my future smog checks and recommending them to friends and family. Nelson Smog Test Only employs a very kind hearted, and truly a great overall guy named Johnny as a mechanic there. Johnny is what I call and overall passionate individual that truly cares for his customers and goes out all the way to help them getting their cars fixed. Johnny recommended and guided us to many resources that helped us with our vehicle. The one quality I admired about Johnny, is he truly takes the time to talk with us although he was already busy at the shop, whether we showed up or a phone call to speak with him. We will always continue to go to Nelson's Smog Test Only Shop for service. Thanks Johnny!! read more

Firstly, I felt compelled to write this review because of the exceptional customer service that Johnny provided from start to finish! He greeted me with a smile upon arrival, led me to the spacious waiting area, and even answered my questions + provided insight from his own experiences :) I felt comfortable the whole time and I would highly highly recommend him to others! It was also well priced in comparison to nearby smog stations so that's an added plus! read more

Friendly, quick, and informative! I came on a Saturday morning at 8:35 AM and Johnny serviced me immediately. Gave him my keys and he took care of the rest. I relaxed in the waiting room and did a few workouts on the exercise equipment. The area was pleasant, clean, and organized. Smog test took around 10-15 minutes and cost $50 dollars if paid in cash. Card is accepted but with a transaction fee. He let me know the smog test was transmitted to the DMV, but I'd have to wait until Monday for processing since it was the weekend. It was my first time getting a Smog Test myself and the whole experience was not as intimidating as I thought it would be. Overall, great place! read more

Been here 3 times. Fast like in and out. Nice lobby area to wait and plenty of parking space if there's a line of people waiting.

Really great and honest guy. I had a 1993 Mazda miata and he was the only guy who was willing to do a smog test on it after calling 3 other guys that said their machine "broke". I later learned from him that older cars take at least 30min to 1hr to smog which is why most places won't do it. The price was the most reasonable and he took good care of the car. I'd recommend him and would go again. read more

I can't say enough positive things about Johnny. He has been patient enough to help me from the beginning to where I can almost say, "the end" of my smog testing shenanigans that i've been dealing with. Long story short, I needed to switch out a certain type of intake to swapping it with a new intake in order to smog, if ya know what i mean, then ya know. Needless to say, Johnny has been patient & kind with me throughout the entire process without any slight of hesitation nor frustration, given circumstances that I was in. I'm happy to say I've managed to finish this project and got my smog compliant and completed. If you need any help in getting your smog test done, Johnny is your guy, that's all I have to say. why waste anymore time researching for any place else? Just swing by here, he'll take care of you. OH! Did I mention his pricing is by far, the most reasonably priced in the area? You can't beat efficiency and integrity here. Ok, good luck smogging!! read more
