$50 for smog check, Camry 2012. Don was fast, no wait since I called ahead. Straight to the point. Quick service!

I recently discovered that my car now requires STAR certified smog checks due to it's age! After been given the runaround from three different smog checks locations, I happened upon Don Smog Check at a local gas station. Not only am I thankful i took a chance at this business, they've earned my business every two years for my smog checks until my car breaks down for good! Would strongly recommend this location for the extremely fair pricing and customer service! read more

HE WILL TRY TO HUSTLE YOU TO PAY MORE. He gave me a price before going there... when I got there he raised the price on me and claimed he thought I said a different vehicle. Moved on and he couldn't do it cause his machine stopped working mid test. Just went back since he said his machine is working and then when I arrived... the price now doubled. Yea...I'm giving this place a 5 stars...for a Smog check...I know I can't believe it either :) For the past couple years, when ever the DMV requires my car to get a smog check I usually come to this place. Its quick, convenience, and surprisingly cheap! ***Its a STAR Certified Smog Check Station***means I certified that they gets these stars LOCATION: Right next to the Shell Gas station on Euclid off the 22 East Freeway, between Euclid Street and Trask Ave. HOURS: from their yelp hours M-F: 9am-5pm Sat: 9am-4pm Sun: 9:15-3pm PRICING: for most average 2000 & newer cars, smog check will be $29.99+$8.25 certificate comes out $40....Older cars & SUVs add additional $10.00. My car was $40, but you can always get a quote from them ahead when you call and in person. SERVICE: So far I heard this place has change ownership a few times but these men here are pretty nice and friendly, I haven't had any problems or complains yet. TIMING---Remember back then when they drive your car inside the shop, place your tires on top of those rolling things, turn on your car, step on your gas pedal to a speed of 80-100miles???? Remember that??? Well guess what? Smog check is also getting an upgrade on their testing process, yup that is correct! It took me less than 10-15 minutes on a Sunday. ----I was surprise that the newer smog check process doesn't require any driving into the shop, stepping on the gas to 100 miles anymore. All they do is plug some sort of device into your car, turn on your car and let it run for a bit. ----While I was sitting there watching & chillin, the smog man kept checking out my engine, my car and I kept thinking what is he doing....why hasn't he even start on the smog testing? So I gave it some time and let him do his thing. I was thinking maybe he was doing his inspections before he drives my car into the shop... He then comes out to me says "its done"...I was like wait what? I didn't see you do any smog check yet"... He then tells me the newer smog process is faster now. I was out of there less than 15 mins which is a surprise thinking it would be a longer process. ---There you have it, if you ever need to do a smog check at a star certified location try this place out. Depending on the year, the car's condition, type of car, and etccc... the pricing can differentiate; therefore, it's best that you call ahead and ask about the pricing. :) read more

Fast and easy, great service--! Victor is helpful and friendly. Opened up my seat for me next to the umbrella away from the burning sun. 60$ for an oldie SUV..with certificate fee is not too bad of a price, right next to shell so you can get a drink while you wait.. this place accepts debit cards, and only charges 2 bucks if you use credit card..not too bad--! Stopped by today for my Highlander again. Still a good and fast experience. It looked like they cleared up some of the parking spaces since I've been there last, so that helps if you had to wait. I didn't wait though. read more

Shared a lot with the Shell gas station right before on the 22 on Euclid. Signs says $29.99 but it's +$10 for DYNO and +$10 for larger vehicles (aka trucks, SUV and vans) My little Honda hybrid was $40, paid cash. No extra fees. In and out in less than 15 mins. No waiting area really so I just stood there awkwardly watching them until they were done.... Bring your DMV paperwork with you! They'll do visual check, dyno and the smog check and send the info straight to the DMV database. Easy and straight-forward. Painless experience. read more

The technician gave me a quote before doing the service. I caught him on his lunch break. Initially, he said 1/2 hr, but he ended up doing my old minivan right away. He offered me a cold water as I waited under an umbrella outside his smog check stall ( which is located attached to the Shell gas station) No frills, but I was glad to find a close Star smog station. read more

Needed a smog check and went to Pro Auto Care because it was close to my house. I was surprised to hear that their prices increased to $50 when I have been only paying $40. A quick google search led me to Star Smog Check. When I arrived, there was only one person working and I was greeted instantly. The gentleman was very kind and offered me a seat while I waited. He is a very honest person and does a very thorough job. Therefore, he will not pass you if there any issues. Which has it's pros and cons. So if you think your car may not pass, take it elsewhere. I didn't have an appointment but he worked on my car right away and I was in and out within 15 minutes. Location: I almost missed it because it is connected to the Shell gas station. Super cheap and great service. Will definitely be back every year! read more

The worker was very kind, and the smog check only took 10 minutes. I highly recommend this place!

Second visit here and they are as nice as I remember. I even called the day before to ask pricing on smog test for a 2012 and the guy asked "Are you sure you even need a smog test?". Super honest and easy to deal with. I will continue to use them for all my smog test needs. read more

Need a smog check? Does it have to be STAR certified? Don't feel like paying a lot? Looking for a professional, knowledgeable staff? Come here! Just take my word for it. It's only $29.99 (+ a certificate fee) for most cars. Bigger cars like trucks and SUVS may be $10 extra. But even so, the most you'll probably pay is $50. My car was a Honda CRV, but I only paid $40! These people are friendly, accommodating, and fast. It took less than 15 minutes to complete the whole process. Most places will charge you like.. $60+?! So don't even bother. Stop Yelping and just choose this place already! :) read more

Even though I asked for a quote on Christmas Eve, I still got a reply within the next day which was amazingly quick! Vick told me they were closed on Christmas Day (which is understandable), but he still gave me the cost of the smog test for my car anyways. I came in for my smog test a few days later, met with friendly staff, and only had to wait 15 minutes. I paid the $40 with my debit card, which they don't charge an additional fee for, unlike with credit cards. I would definitely recommend this place the next time you need a smog check! read more

Honest to goodness this Star Certified Smog Check Station is tops. I found this gem on Yelp, and I am grateful for the help Yelp! As another Yelper as stated, the smog check station is located at the Shell gas station. The "Star Certified" sign isn't as large as that in the picture but don't worry, they are still "Star Certified." The smog station operator is Vietnamese and speaks English fluently ;) He was also very friendly and gave me upfront pricing on the smog check. It took less than 15 minutes for the entire procedure. There was no surprises or double-talk. It was all smiles from the beginning to the end. 5 stars because it was easy to find, conveniently located near the freeway, had a quick turn-around time, no gimmicks/games, and of course offered extremely friendly service. Go with confidence Yelpers! read more
