For Van Cleef & Arpels For a maison built on craftsmanship, legacy, and discretion, I expected a very different standard of care. We've owned our Van Cleef earrings for a little over two years. Beautiful pieces, but recently the backs began to loosen--enough that the main earring slipped off three separate times. Clearly not safe to continue wearing. When I reached out to VCA customer support, the guidance was simple: bring the earrings into a boutique for a repair assessment. Not once did they mention the need to purchase replacement backs or any additional charges. At the Palo Alto VCA inside Neiman Marcus, the experience took a sharp turn. The sales associate, Lauren, didn't take a moment to understand the situation or even examine the issue with any sense of care. She abruptly disappeared to the back, returned with a pair of new earring backs, and stated matter-of-factly that they were not covered--and that we would have to pay $230 for these tiny components. For context: we own Cartier, Shane Co., and other fine jewelry. We have never been placed in this kind of predicament over such a basic functional element. In every other maison we've interacted with, safety-related hardware is treated as part of long-term client care. Hearing "that's not covered" delivered without empathy or explanation felt dismissive and entirely out of step with the brand VCA claims to be. $230 for earring backs--paired with service that felt more transactional than thoughtful--left us genuinely disappointed. Luxury is supposed to reassure, not frustrate. This experience didn't reflect the spirit or standard that made us choose Van Cleef in the first place. read more

Compared to the Bloomingdale's, also at Stanford Shopping Center, I find the service here much more friendly and inviting. Their gifts & home decor department is somewhat lacking though, as the display areas had extremely limited offerings compared to other NM locations. The sales associates are friendly and knowledgeable about their departments. Our SAs yesterday, in housewares & fragrances, were both extremely friendly, helpful and engaging. Nieman Marcus offers many fine quality, exceptional items for discriminating tastes. There is never a doubt as to the quality and uniqueness of their merchandise. This review is for the Jo Malone counter, Ray was working on a Sunday and about 15 min before closing time my hubby and I came by just browsing. He was so helpful and even helped me try different scents, he even taught me about layering scents. I was worried that we would feel rushed since they were about to close, but Ray made us feel welcome and really took his time. His customer service is excellent! I was just browsing at first but so many scents smelled so good I had to buy one. The price was good because they were having 15% off on the beauty items. Ray even rang us up after the lights went off, not once did he say "we're about to close." The scents were all amazing, I had a bag full of papers that I sprayed lol. I ended up getting a large bottle of a perfume and it was even wrapped for me like it's a gift! We got samples to try at home and he gave some to my hubby too. She said the box had to be done by a "separate department". 15 minutes later I asked where the box was. Used to live in Buckhead Atlanta and Neiman Marcus is my all time fav store. Now I moved back to Singapore and I miss Neiman Marcus. The store in Palo Alto is just a lot smaller than the one in Buckhead, Atlanta. Came here and wanted to pick up Dior lip oil and was surprised the store does not carry Dior beauty. Walked past Orlane and a sales associate Elvira greeted us and said hi. We stopped and chatted. Elvira was very friendly. I told her I could not find any Dior here and also I was looking for something at YSL but did not see it. She told me the store did not carry Dior but I can order online. She also asked me what item I was looking for in YSL. She found what I wanted which was great! Great customer service is a rarity these days. Elvira was super friendly, kind, and very helpful! I have been to this store many times but my experience with Elvira was the only time I feel was the best here, and what Neiman Marcus store should be. I can't seem to find a Yelp page for Van Cleef & Arpels located inside Neiman Marcus. I stopped by this location for the first time with an appointment. I must say compared to other locations, this location is much smaller which is underwhelming at first. There are three rooms (waiting room, show room in the middle, and another room to try on jewelry). I believe there is a fourth room, a stock room, in the back. Although the impression of the store is underwhelming, with there are barely any pieces in the show room, the service was excellent. My family and I were greeted warmly and was offered chocolate and water while we wait. I have an appointment but waited about 30 minutes before I was helped. I believe the SA was still helping out the previous client. Didi helped me today and I informed her in advance what pieces I'd like to look at. She is friendly, kind and gentle. She educated us on the pieces we inquired on. I was about to walk out of the store empty handed but I asked about the 5 motif bracelets and she brought out an onyx for me as she believes it fits me more than a carnelian. I definitely walked out with something on my wrist. I appreciate Didi being patient with my family and me. She is very helpful and also answered my texts afterward. One of the friendliest Neiman Marcuses I've ever set foot in across coasts, I truly enjoyed our shopping experience at the Celine boutique in the Stanford Shopping Center, so this review is specifically for the CELINE BRANCH. Service was so great, and the girls managing the store the Sunday we went in were so amicable, we actually all talked for a while and even exchanged social media accounts. They treated us to macarons, Celine bonbons, and water as we did our shopping. I came into this location to get some makeup and I was immediately greeted and helped by the sales associate Joumana. She was very kind and patient she helped me find the right shades. She took her time and allowed me to pick which shades I felt looked nice. One of the shades I selected wasn't available in store and she let me know she can have it shipped to me. I felt like she went above and beyond to make sure I selected the makeup I wanted and just didn't push whatever they had in store. The staff in Neiman's beauty is very friendly over all. read more

I experienced a terrible pick up for my online order. No one greeted me when I walked in and I had to walk around to find an associate. There are no signs anywhere on where to go/what to do for online order pickup. When I managed to get someone's attention, they told me to call the number in my email confirmation. The only number in my email was for curbside pickup (which was the correct number, but I'm not doing curbside pickup...). I called the number 3 times and straight to voicemail. I went to another associate, she told me the same thing. I had to walk around to find a 3rd associate and he told me to stay in this general area - someone would be with me in 5 minutes. Someone finally came and only gave me 1/3 of my order. I told him the order was incomplete and he said ok he'll check in the back. I saw him go help another guest out, so I went up to my now 4th associate. She told me to wait and someone will help me. Someone finally brought me the 2 missing items. I was inside trying to pickup my order for 25 minutes!! What is the point of ordering ahead for pickup? I could've walked in and purchased my items in a way shorter time. read more

I have been coming to this Neiman's for years but today I had a very bad experience that makes me never want to come back. Today I came into buy a refill of my foundation from the clair de peau make up counter. The sales lady was helping another lady when I got there which I understood but then 15 mins passed with me just standing there without her acknowledging me when she could have literally just called another sales associate over to help me. 25 mins go by with me just standing there and she finally finished up with her first customer and apologized to me. I told her the product I needed and then the lady said "the brand does not make these anymore, we don't have any but let me check". I asked why the product was out in the display case if they don't make it anymore. She said "they just don't". While she tried searching for the product, I went on to the Nordstrom app on my phone where I saw that they literally had the same product. I told her kindly, "it's fine you don't have to keep looking, I found it on the Nordstrom's site". The lady turned really rude, scoffed, and said "good luck with that, I already told you the brand is not making this foundation anymore". I snapped back and said "no need to be rude, if the brand didn't sell this then why is it in stock on Nordstrom's site and available for next day shipping as well?" Horrible experience, a waste of time, and rude and uninformed sales associate who has no idea about the brand she is literally in charge of selling. I've been a loyal client at Guerlain and always look forward to my appointments with Susie--she's absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately, today's experience was extremely disappointing. I had a facial scheduled for today, which I rushed to make on time, only to be told upon arrival that I wasn't even on the books. Not only was today's appointment mishandled, but I was also informed by Kim who mind you had booked my June appointment that she initiated that my upcoming facial in June wasn't correctly booked either. This wasn't a simple scheduling mishap--it was clear there was a complete lack of accountability. No one took ownership of the mistake or offered a solution beyond a shrug and a "sorry not sure what happened." The guerlain representative was on site today as well and busy selling me products until he found out I wasn't on The books, Then I was invincible. Pathetic! Today was also supposed to be a special event with Aaron, which I was initially excited about. I did get my makeup done, but even that felt like an afterthought. Guerlain is known for its skincare, not makeup, and unfortunately, that showed. I left feeling frustrated and undervalued. As someone who has always had a high regard for Guerlain's service and standards, this experience fell far short. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so other clients don't face the same disappointment. It's not the service I expect for guerlain or neimans. The makeup was nothing spectacular either. They have all the luxury brands here and it is extremely organized- you can get in and out in a pinch if you needed to. All the sales associates were welcoming and kind- you won't feel judged here! This was fun. Blondie and I stopped by to just look around. I'm not in a position to shop here, except for something special perhaps. On the first floor is the cologne/perfume area, and I looked for a Dolce & Gabbana area, which they don't have. When I asked someone, I got attention from three people who were eager for me to try some exclusive brand that NM carries. We started talking about cologne scents like others discuss wine, which was new for me. Do I like citrus, or something a bit astringent? I didn't even know how to answer, but they had plenty of options for me to try. They handed me a glass of champagne, and even offered a second, which I declined. I took a look at the third floor restaurant and bar, because I was more likely to eat there than shop much elsewhere in the store. The menu looked casual impressive. What's that old saying? It's hard to find good help? Is that still true even in this economy? High end shopping should equal great customer service. I can't get any response from anyone at Neimans in regard to what I'm searching for. Am I to blame because I misplaced a business card from my last visit here back in August? If I hadn't misplaced it I could email or text the associate that I had interacted with during my last visit. The Chanel handbag boutique NEVER answers their phones, and I think the "store operator" is outsourced, because they said they couldn't provide me with the SA's business phone number either. However when I needed my wallet repaired in July, I left a message on a Sunday, perhaps about one hour until closing. Then an associate (not on their Sales side though) who is in charge of repairs and inventory called me right back in the morning. But now because it has to do with actual merchandise they're selling, NO RESPONSE. I've been interested in a wallet on a chain, and came back from the Chanel boutique at Valley Fair on Monday afternoon. They didn't have any of the colors I was interested in. Wanted to try Neimans since it's a bit closer to my place but still at least a 30 minute drive one way without any traffic. So I called both on Monday and Tuesday. It's Thursday evening, and still no phone call, mind you, their requests for callbacks are logged in some sort of ticketing system, so it's not a note on a Post IT that can get lost. Is it really that hard to take 5 minutes to give a customer a call back? If they actually have what I want in stock, it's an easy sale. read more

The kind security/doorman asked if I had reservation as no one was in boutique. He took my number as I would be in store for 2-3 hours. After lunch, I stopped by again. The kind security guard summoned over a non client advisor as the one and only CA was busy or absent. I asked specifically for perlee ring, rose gold, and larger size. The assistant said there was one in stock! This is rare as inventory is limited and special sizing is too. Again, the security took my cell again. I hung around Stanford Mall for another hour or so... No reach out. Meanwhile, I saw two other ladies approach for assistance to be turned away. This is really bad. I really wished someone from SF boutique or backbup staffing could have been there to assist. I had really high hopes for this boutique. Now I have to drive over an hour w/o traffic to SF, which forfeits any NM perks. Management, you need to fix this. read more

Nightmare is an understatement. I ordered a physical gift card then called customer service to see why it had not shipped 3 days ago. This should arrive before Christmas because I placed it 11 days out. Customer service call 1: 30 minutes we can't find the Order Customer service call 2: 45 minutes This isn't our order you have us mixed up with another retailer. Customer service call 3. 45 minutes. This isn't our problem. We can't find the order even tbough I showed him the AMEX transaction. NM uses an off shore, 3rd party fulfillment center to ship physical gift cards. I'm out $1000 and have no idea if/when rhe gift card will arrive. I called this location and was blown off and told to call customer service. This is not a LUXURY retailer. I get better service from Macys or 7-11. Totally disgusted. Will never shop here again. Worst customer service in the retail industry by far. Decent customer service, they just didn't have what I needed. After a not so good visit with Nordstrom I made the decision to check out Neiman Marcus to see if they had an item I was interested in. The women's shoe area looked semi chaotic yet tidy all at the same time- how is that even possible?? Lmao. I did a bit of browsing on my own and stumbled across the Versace Palazzo Slides. Finding someone to grab my size was harder than it really needed to be factoring in how many employees were simply standing around. Employees legit come off like they don't want to be bothered and they're definitely not interested in making a sale. I ended up having to flag a gentleman down and asked him to grab 2 separate sizes for me to try. There was unfortunately just one of the sizes available and it just so happened to be a little small in length than I wanted. The SA let me know that I could place an order for the half size up but overheard my complaint about how loose the actual band was and informed me that the band would only feel even loser since I would be going up in size. 3 stars for his assistance and being so informative.
