Now, when I hear "large," I picture something requiring two hands and a strategy. What I received instead was a bun that looked like it had commitment issues--definitely not large, and barely medium on a good day. When I asked about it, I was informed that they were out of large buns... but were still charging for a large sandwich anyway. Bold business move. Visionary, even. But wait--it gets better. Or worse. Definitely worse. This "BBQ" sandwich came with absolutely no BBQ sauce. None. Not on the sandwich, not in the container, not even a lonely packet hiding in the bag like a last-minute apology. The result? Dry meat performing a dramatic escape from the undersized bun with every bite. It was less a sandwich and more a slow-motion landslide. By the end, I wasn't eating BBQ--I was participating in a meat evacuation drill. Needless to say, Podnuhs has officially lost a customer. On the bright side, BBQ West has gained one--because I like my BBQ sandwiches like I like my promises: actually delivered. Podnuhs, "you have some "splaining to do"! Lillian today was super nice and helpful when I needed help scanning some melatonin gummies when the tag was bent. The Deli's hot bar food is also really good. I often grab a fish plate during lunch and it is amazing. They also have really good mashed potato's and Mac and cheese. However, some of the attitudes (that seem to be pretty common amongst West Monroe) are less to be desired. I'm not perfect at customer service myself, but was upset when the pharmacy threw my prescription in front of me after I had asked for the correct one. They had also snapped that I need to "give them a second" and seemed pretty annoyed with me overall.

People are super nice and it's unfortunate that the owner doesn't ever bake enough of anything. I was in at 10:00am today. My online order wouldn't go through because the owner hadn't loaded what was available for the week. Still not loaded so I guess they just don't bake on days the owner can't figure out how much they sell of each item...you would think that they would have some clue as to how many croissants, danish, breads, etc that they sell in a week and get the website up and running. Frustrated, I ordered my usual coffee and 3 croissants. Nope!!! Only 2 croissants at 10:00am and they were probably left over from Saturday since they were tough and chewy rather than flakey and soft when they're fresh. And, absolutely not one tart, danish and very few muffins available. I'm not convinced of the cleanliness either. You can see back into the kitchen and everyone is running around with bare feet! It seems that that would be against health department regulations. Don't waste your time. They will be out of whatever you want so you'd be bettter off going around the corner to another shop or even to Monroe. Those establishments at least can figure out how many of certain popular items they need. So sad because when they're good, they're great. Unfortunately, they're hardly ever good. Just mediocre at best when they could be so incredible.

The set up of the store is so cute and they do a great job displaying the items from the windows to everywhere inside. They carry a lot of great Louisiana merchandise. Shirts, Kitchen items, cards, ornaments, souvenirs. They have the most darling kid section too! Go check it out. You won't regret it!
