There is a fuel station located outside in front of the store. The store offers newer items, such as the popular sushi bar and a larger variety of organic and regular produce and food fares. There's a deli/bakery area along with a refrigerated gourmet cheese section. The floral department has a wide selection of lovely blooms. The pharmacy area was expanded and now has a new drive-thru window. What really makes this location stand out is definitely the openness of the whole store. The new, refurbished floors, paint, and signage really does make the atmosphere more inviting and appealing to the general public. On my visits, the store is almost always clean and organized, making it easy to find items. Employees here are always helpful and friendly, and even help bring out groceries to your car. I would recommend this location as your grocery store of choice for our area. You will not be disappointed! Happy shopping!

This was by far the worst customer service experience I have ever had at any Walmart…read more On August 25, 2025, at approximately 2:00 PM, I visited the Walmart located at 1025 Glenwood Drive to purchase a simple Ethernet cable. I waited in the Electronics department for over 30 minutes trying to get assistance. During that time, the two associates working in Electronics essentially ignored me. To make matters worse, they even helped another couple who arrived after I had already been waiting. After being unable to get help from the Electronics associates, I had to go find someone else myself. Fortunately, Mrs. Tracy stepped in and helped me get what I needed. What is especially disappointing is that Electronics is not even her department, yet she provided better customer service than the employees who were actually assigned there. I wanted to speak with a manager about this issue, but I was told the manager was in a meeting, so I never had the opportunity to discuss my concerns. Waiting over 30 minutes for help with a basic item is unacceptable. Being ignored while watching employees assist customers who came after me made the experience even more frustrating. Mrs. Tracy deserves recognition for helping when others would not, but the service I received from the Electronics department was extremely poor. I sincerely hope Walmart addresses this issue so other customers do not have to go through the same experience.

Gene Cox's Grocery & Meats has been in business for over 50 years, which is a great, boast-worthy…read moreaccomplishment! Cox's is a small, family-run, grocery store with the best meat market in town. Despite the many large grocery store competitors around town, the locals remain loyal to Cox's because of their Southern hospitality and quality products. From the moment you walk in to check-out, the staff are eager to help and answer any questions. On our first visit, we felt very welcomed as we took our time to browse the store. Hot foods are available most of the day, breakfast biscuit sandwiches in the morning and then typical lunch food fare(fried chicken/fish, meat pies, boudin, boudin balls, sausage links) for the rest of the day. We were surprised to find fresh, homemade cracklins for $16.99/lb. A majority of the hearty bite-sized pieces had a good meat:skin proportion. The cracklins had a nice crunch and seasoning, but not too spicy. (Most natives are used to the spicy seasoned cracklins from south La). There is an extensive selection of packaged specialty meats and foods (seasoned pork chops/pork tenderloin/chicken/ribs, stuffed chicken, certified Angus beef, smoked beef patties, twice-baked potatoes) and it was hard to select a few choices because everything looked deliciously mouthwatering! We grabbed a few of them to cook up at home- duck wrapped in bacon and chicken stuffed with crawfish dressing. Catering options are available too, just let them know in advance. The rest of the store is similar to what you would find in the typical convenient store with snacks and beverages, including some local brews. With the Mardi Gras season upon us, Abita Mardi Gras Bock is in stock too! I saw a small display of various jerky flavors and local jarred goodies like fruit, jams, and seasonings. Remember to visit Gene Cox's Grocery & Meats the next time you can't decide what to make for lunch/dinner. You'll be sure to find great food here should you need a little snack or a meal. The carnivore in you will surely be screaming to buy all the specialty meats. And as a rule of thumb, eat and shop local!

We decided to come back another day to actually dine in and try the food. There was a lady in the dining area was the server, but it seemed like she couldn't really speak English, so we ended up waiting for a while for the guy at the cashier to come take our order. The price is definitely on the pricier side. I forgot to take a picture of the menu, but for what we ordered, I felt like the portions were pretty small for the price. My husband got 2 fajitas and 2 lengua tacos, while I got the steak, chicken, and shrimp fajitas. My fajitas were decent, and I'll give them that for having fresh vegetables, but the meat was cut into such small pieces that it kind of felt like scraps. We're not Mexican, so I can't really speak on how authentic it is, but my husband's friends actually stopped by right after us, tried the food, and said pretty much the same thing! I actually love the grocery store itself. It's small but has SO much stuff, including things you wouldn't expect, and their fresh products are great. The only other thing I didn't really like was the checkout situation. Nobody came by to check on us when we were done eating, so we had to wait in the regular grocery checkout line to pay. Since we weren't holding any groceries, a bunch of people kept cutting in front of us without asking. I really hope they can improve this part because it was pretty frustrating. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place for Mexican groceries. The food was good, but I don't think I'd come back specifically to dine in.

So whenever I'm passing through, stopping at Billy's Boudin & Cracklin or Randall's Cajun Foods is a must for me. I went to Randall's today. About 5 months ago, I stopped in and the cracklings had clearly been sitting for a while, they were tough. I explained my concern and even offered to pay extra just to have a fresh batch cooked. After going back and forth, they finally made them fresh, and they were exactly what I wanted. Fast forward to today, I called ahead and specifically asked for fresh cracklings. The young man on the phone said okay, no problem. I walk in 5 minutes later and there's already a bag waiting. I asked where they came from and she told me they were cooked that morning. That was an immediate no for me. If I'm spending $21 for a pound, I don't want tough, sitting all day cracklings. Go ahead and put those back. I ended up trying the boudin balls, big mistake. You could tell they had been sitting too. At that point, I didn't even have the energy to go back and forth or ask for a manager. Honestly, it should be a given. This picture is pepper jack boudin ball. Look how dry it is . Needless to say, I won't be back.

We've never been anything less than fully satisfied and inspired. But, what spurred me to write this review was the "double doozie" I received and consumed yesterday. I feel like I have the adequate experience on this subject to say that the specimen I received last night unseated all previous samplings from other establishments. The moment it touched my lips, I worried that the cookie was too hard but to my delight the crunch was only a thin layer that quickly gave way to delicious goodness that was generously loaded with the finest chocolate hunks. But all this gloriousness soon became a footnote to the silky smooth icing sandwiched between the two chocolate chip cookies. The icing is unrivaled among the many attempts at a double doozie. Free of the granular sugary texture that only causes guilt and never enhances the experience, this collaboration of cookie and icing is not to be shared. They are large enough for two but so tasty you better forget about any ideas of sharing. There is only heart ache and confrontation to be had down that road. A certain chain cookie company who coined the term and will here remain unnamed in this review was only hinting at what could be when they began to offer their "double doozie." All these years I just did not realize what was possible. Satisfied all these years with the mere elementary offering of so many bakeries. I almost regret having experienced the refined simplicity of the Uptown Downtown "Double Doozie." From this point forward, this guilty pleasure can only be fulfilled here. My heart belongs to you Uptown Downtown. Until we meet again.

Let's be honest…read more Ruston isn't exactly the first place that comes to mind when you think of craft coffee, fresh pastries, thoughtful small plates, and palate-forward cocktails. Then there's Common Goods. On a recent trip from New Orleans to North Louisiana, my friend Jacob rounded up a mix of locals and out-of-towners and said, "Trust me." He was right. Where do I even start? I use this word sparingly, but this place is a vibe. I walked in not knowing what to expect and immediately noticed the velvet yellow sectional, the clean design, and a room that was the perfect blend of curated and comfortable. Nothing was working too hard, yet everything felt intentional. Then came the cocktail menu. Whoever put it together understands balance. Sweet. Sour. Spice. Earth. The presentation was superb. I ordered the New Fashioned. Then another. Then...well...let's just say I quit counting after three. The Earl Grey infusion works, it somehow it makes a great Old Fashioned feel lighter, brighter, and completely new. The personal chocolate cake with salted caramel disappeared almost as fast as it hit the table. It was the unanimous favorite. My friends Paul and Racheal loved it so much they got their own, in chocolate and raspberry. The bread service deserves a mention. Fresh bread with balsamic and infused olive oil sounds simple. But there was complexity and finish in both. The bread had crisp edges and a soft middle. By the end of the night I was spellbound by their magic. Common Goods isn't just a great spot for Ruston. It's a place that could hold its own in New Orleans, Nashville, or Austin without anyone batting an eye. This place is a gem. And I'm officially obsessed.
