Okay I was somewhat weary of this place because of the high rating. It's hard to know which reviews are genuine. First it took a few seconds for me to figure out the set up for ordering. Once I did I ordered the burger on wheat with all the veggies and no condiments. Burger was really good and the wheat bread was delicious. A little pricey but it was worth it. The people working there were nice enough, although one young girl seemed to be lost. I'm guessing she was a new employee, so she gets a pass. I will visit again on my next work trip to this area. read more

Food is really fresh and tasty. I love how most things are pretty healthy or has healthy substitutes such as wheat buns for burgers or wheat bread for sandwiches if you choose. How to order: There's a computer screen kiosk in front of the grill. You order any hot sandwiches you want from there (like in Disney World). It prints out a receipt with a number on it. They make your food right in front for you and call out your number. When you get your food and you're ready to check out, you bring the receipt to the cashier. You can eat right there in the store! There's several tables set up. I usually just bring it on home... What I have tried: 1. Chicken salad sandwich on wheat poboy. The chicken salad is very good!!! Very tasty with real lean white chicken meat. The thing is, they're pretty skimpy when it comes to the portion. I'm a girl and I feel as if they don't have enough meat, so for the guys, I think you'd have to order extra meat (which is actually an option). I like the chicken salad so much that I got an extra small container to go. 2. A burger on wheat with sautéed mushrooms. This was pretty good but the wheat bun was kind of sweet. Like a sweet bread kind of taste. Not too bad but maybe next time I'll add mustard to balance that out. 3. Chocolate chip and white chocolate/macadamian cookies. Everyone raves about the cookies. They're not "out of this world" but they are a pretty decent size and have the great homemade taste and feel to it (soft but not too soft). The chocolate chip was pretty good. Looking around the store, they have sides such as baked potato salads, Sabra brand hummus, Naked drinks, side salads, side fruit salads, soups, other croissant sandwiches, a little bar where you can create your own yogurt parfait, brownies, rice crispy treats, blondies, chicken club wraps, spinach chicken wraps, and a few other things. They're pretty pricey for being inside a gas station, I would have to say, especially for the sizes and portions you'd get but they've won me over with their fresh selections and ingredients. However, Sundays and Mondays are buy one get one free for any sandwich or hand burger. Pretty good deal! read more

Ok, I want to start off by saying I love this place. I pass by it everyday so it is super convenient and there is a vast array of anything you could possibly want to eat... from sandwiches, to salads, to pizzas to the best baked potato in town. There is something for everyone. The touch screen order system pretty much makes sure they can't screw up your order and you are 100% in control of what you order, which is super nice. I love the selection of beverages from the large fountain drink station to the slush type drinks to the coffee station to the coolers in the back. ANYTHING you want pretty much is available to you. Now, with that being said, I have been getting breakfast there and my only complaint is that they don't season stuff. The potatoes and the eggs they put in the breakfast burritos are not seasoned at all. Salt and pepper people, salt and pepper, this is the south, we expect our food to be seasoned. I always ask for salsa to go with it because it does help, but not enough. So buyer beware at breakfast. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop/gas station in Monroe. That sounds weird and random. For whatever reason, Louisiana is known for their drive-through daiquiris and FANCY gas stations. I've seen some with full-on buffets and home-cooked breakfasts up the wazoo. This has to be the top of the top for gas station cafes. I am definitely a coffee snob and I love any type of traditional and fancy coffee. I love trying new coffee shops in places I am visiting and I've seen plenty. But this one is wayyyy different than you'd expect. Once you step inside, you forget you are in a gas station altogether. It looks like a mini market of "DO IT YOURSELF" options: build your own frozen yogurt with assorted toppings, computerized milkshake machine, computerized build your own sandwich (a real person makes it though unlike the milkshake machine and frozen yogurt!), soups to choose from, create your own sweet tea with plenty of flavors - watermelon sweet tea, yes please!, and finally: the make-your-own coffee station. They have custom-made coffee with fresh coffee beans, ground and brewed per order. You hit the buttons and pick what kind of milk you want (unfortunately no almond or soy yet), whether you want a single or double, a latte or regular, hot or iced. Then you whip around and come up with your own fancy concoction of syrups, which supposedly they have fancy recipes on their facebook page like king cake coffee, and of course they have whip cream, chocolate, caramel, and white chocolate topping. This is in a gas station?! When I was planning my trip to my parents in West Monroe the first thing I did was check Yelp to see if there were any new places that I hadn't visited in a prior visit. I ran across Daily Press and had to see what all of the high stars were about. I was not disappointed. To order food you go to a touch screen and order sandwiches, salads, and soups. They were so fast and SO good. My mom and I got sandwiches and an iced tea. They also sell frozen yogurt. We didn't try any, but the flavors were plentiful and looked so good! We did get an iced latte during Happy Hour (2-4 p.m.) and for $2+ we got a 24 oz iced latte with an extra shot of espresso. They have many different syrups to add for your liking. If you have been East you have probably visited Sheetz Gas Station. I felt this was similar in set up. Go here! read more

Four stars for originality/why didn't i think of this. Located on Hwy 165 north of Monroe, it looks at first glance like a typical convenience store with gas. But this is no typical gas station. First, if you want beer, cigarettes or lotto tickets, go somewhere else. This place sells fresh pressed sandwiches, wraps, burritos, salads, fresh squeezed orange juice from a juggling juicer, fresh ground coffee right into your cup, full coffee bar, espresso, frozen yogurt with all the toppings, fresh muffins, cookies, all kinds of iced tea and lots of other stuff. Ordering from the menu is done through touch screens that take you through all the choices and it spits out a ticket you take to the register. By the time you pay, your food is ready. I live in Houston and when I go visit family in Monroe, I go here at least once. Very unique concept. It works. read more

In the future I hope all gas stations are like this one. They have a bank of fully automatic espresso machines with built in milk steamers. They have a wall of self-seve froyo machines. Plus grab and go drinks, deli food and pressed sandwiches. There's a lot to like here and not just compared to other places in Monroe. Plugged in a Subway in my GPS and it brought me to this place (looks new so I assume Subway closed and this place opened). Food is really good and service really fast. You walk up to a kiosk with touch screen to order. They serve sandwiches, soups, salads, yogurt and bakery items. Also different types of coffees including cappuccino . I ordered the chicken salad sandwich in jalapeño sour dough bread. Chicken salad is fresh made in store and it is to die for! Will definitely be back on my next work trip to Monroe! read more

Stopped by Daily Press for lunch and was very impressed. I ordered a grilled chicken salad from the kiosk. It was delicious! All the ingredients were very fresh. I have also had the coffee and frozen yogurt on different occasions. The frozen yogurt is better than any other yogurt chain around. Additionally, the management is excellent. Yes, I too wish all gas stations were like this! Their food and snacks are such great quality and so unique. Their salted caramel and birthday cake frozen yogurt flavors were so delicious, but my favorite part is all the toppings you can add to the yogurt and all of the syrups you can select from to add to your coffee or tea. You can get healthy snacks or meals here or delicious treats! The young man who rang me up was so charming and kind- he asked whether I needed help finding anything and genuinely wanted to be helpful. I'd come back just because of how friendly the staff are even if the food and drinks weren't also so great. Definitely coming back any time I'm in town. read more

Pretty expensive for small portions of mediocre food. Service was really fast. Ordered on a touch screen computer and by the time I paid and fixed my drink, the food was ready. Ordered half soup and sandwich. Should be called quarter soup and sandwich. Soup came in a small (4 oz?) styrofoam cup. One of the ones that you would expect dipping sauce to come in. Sandwich had 2 slices of deli meat on it. Tomato basil soup was delicious. Sandwich?... Meh. Also had a hamburger. Decent size, and tasted ok but can get expensive if you like to add things to it ($6 plain + $.50 for cheese, $.50 for tomato, $1 for bacon, $1.50 for avocado, ect.) and of course this doesn't include chips or drink. They even charge for water ($.50 I think). Overall, not bad, but for ~$10 for a meal, McAllisters is probably a better deal for similar type food in the area. read more

We came through during breakfast. The deli is clean and well lit. Here's what I liked: 1. The coffee station has freshly ground regular or dark roast coffees, or you have an espresso based drink. There is also iced coffee and a Kuerig. There are three stations for preparing your coffee that have creamers, sugar and sweeteners and Monin syrups, regular and sugar-free. 2. The touch screen ordering station walks you through your options including breakfast burritos, bowls and sandwiches. There are a number of ready made items available as well like pastries and kolaches. We took ours to go but there was indoor and outdoor seating. It was a little ways from the interstate but worth the detour for fresh coffee and good, hot food. read more

This place is really cool. I'd give the coffee drinks a 9/10 (MUCH better than Starbucks), and you build your own sandwiches or salads from a digital kiosk which I've never seen before. Everything was fresh, and the workers were friendly. 5 stars for the innovation, cleanliness, coffee, and sandwiches. A word to the wise---There is very little seating here! If you want a table you will need to get there early or wait! I normally just pick mine up on the go. read more

This is one of mine and my wife's favorite places to eat in town. They have large variety of customizable sandwiches, salads, soups, and many different types of sweets. They also have many flavors of frozen yogurt with a plethora of toppings. We eat here no less than 2-3 times/week whether it's breakfast or dinner. They have fresh panini ("pressed po-boys"), ready-made wraps and salads with quality ingredients, several flavors of iced tea and soda, real coffee, fresh-squeezed orange juice and lemonade, cookies and pastries, shakes, and they've just added a frozen yogurt bar!
