The front desk lady made me feel like a bother, even though I was the only one in the waiting area. The nurse didn't seem to care about anything I was telling her and the doctor made me feel so rushed. The rooms can barely fit the bed, let alone a patient and a doctor, with a nurse if needed. I received treatment for what I needed but I will likely find a new walk in or go to the ER if an issue were to arise.

I only made an appointment with her office as I've been having pain and she's the only pcp I called that was either accepting new patients or not booked out 8-12 weeks. And boy do I see why now. My appointment was at 3:30, I was called back at 3:45 and dr came in right before 4. So that was good. The facility was old and dated and dirty. When I say dirty, there was a bandaid wrapper on the floor of the exam room I was seated in that when the person who sat me in there she noticed. The fact she didn't pick it up and throw it away was surprising. So the Dr comes in with a smile and introduces herself. After a few seconds we are interrupted by a knock at the door. Another staff member talking about what to do with another patient. Kind of rude but whatever. I get it. New patient appointments can be long and she didn't want to wait. So anyways the Dr comes in, introduced herself and immediately tells me I need a vaccine. She knows nothing about it I've had it, or want it, or anything. She handed me the RX to get it. She went on about this vaccine I know I've had for at least ten minutes until going to my family history. After reviewing how many members of my family have illnesses she starts talking about a referral she's going to give me for genetic consulting. What. No. I don't want that. If I was seeking genetic consulting I would have said so. I told her that wasn't a priority for me and she went on how it should be. I get it. She's the professional. I'm not. But I'm here for pain, not genetic stuff. We are about 25 minutes into the appointment now. I tell her my chief compliant and she says she'd write me a prescription to manage it. I don't want an Rx to manage the symptoms. That's what I've been doing for the last year, hence why I am there. Finally. I want to get rid of the symptoms from the source. When I asked about cause she then stated she'd have to give me a referral to a specialist. So then I question her. How can she want to treat something with meds but won't explain what's going on...? She didn't have much to say besides the same thing she did. Not helpful at all. I was like okay, whatever, I'll go to a specialist. It has to be more helpful than her. So she tells me about who she's sending me to and basically gave me no choice in provider. When I voiced my concern, she didn't care and went on her way with the referral. While she's typing all of her notes and referrals and other stuff my phone lit up. No sound. No vibration. Nothing. I didn't reach to read it. It just lit up from a notification. She then states "oh I can't see you if you're going to be on your phone. Your health deserves undivided attention and I deserve that respect too" in a very rude and condensing way. first off. I agree. Secondly. It wasn't even close enough for me to reach and be on. I almost ended the exam right there as that was so rude of her to assume it lit up that i was going to be on it. But in interest if time I knew I was never going back to her so I let her type her notes. Answered no to all of her questions and I left. On my way out I handed the RX back to the front desk and asked her to inactivate me as I'd never go see her again for anything. Also to cancel the referrals and RX as I don't want those either. Overall very unprofessional. Every nurse there seemed like they hated it. I worked in the medical field for ten years. I went in for 1 specific issue. I was given a 30 day supply of pills to manage symptoms(if it'd even work), 2 referrals I didn't want. The last thing I'd say is about her hygiene. If she's rolling that computer on wheels from room to room and touching in between touching patients, it's probably full of nasty. She went back and forth from touching the disposable part of the light piece that goes in my ear with her bare hands to touching mouse to doing the exam where she's touching me, then keyboard. I was just grossed out.

He's an awesome doctor…read more I've seen my share of Doctors and some of them will listen to your symptoms and give you a pill for each and every one of them without looking for the root of the problem. Not Dr. Giove.. Every time I've been in his office he's listened to what I've had to say, performed some tests to determine what the true cause is and then tells me what I need to take / do to remedy the problem. If you're paying out of pocket he's extremely understanding, and will go through the prescriptions and let you know which ones are critical and which are for which symptoms. E.G.: "This one's for nausea, and this one's the antibiotic that has the side effect of nausea, So, if you can handle the nausea or don't get the side effect you can probably do without the first one" Just. Freaking. Awesome!

The Shifa Free Clinic is an amazing non-profit organization, started by Dr. Reshma Khan. It…read moreoriginated by a simple desire to assist those that didn't have access to healthcare. It has now become a full fledged clinic, with doctors from different specialties volunteering their time as well as full-time employees. The specialities one can be treated for- internal medicine, ob/gy, dermatology, pediatrics. There is now a dental unit. This is also a satellite location for The Lowcountry Food bank. There is a food pantry where families can register to pick up food once a month. Fresh express is held once every two months where local fresh produce is available for free. These events are held on a Saturday and there are normally a few hundred that come to pick up what might be the only fresh produce they might consume in the month. Local institutes support the clinic and provide a source of funding. Roper St. Francis is a sponsor and MUSC have incorporated the clinic as one of their training sites. The clinic is part of the PA program where PA's in training rotate through the clinic. It is also part of the MUSC nursing program. Internal medicine residency program use the clinic as one of their residency sites. There are also free clothing services available on site. This is one of the best charitable service centers there could be!

Dr. Hunter, however, finds any reason she can to charge you for something she considers outside the scope of an annual physical. So, what's outside of the scope of a physical? I asked about recurring headaches I'd been having. My wife simply had her prescription refilled. Both of these occurred during our annual physicals and were billed as regular visits - literally a couple minutes of interaction with the doctor, charged $90+. I was also given additional blood tests without any notice that there'd be an additional charge. I tolerated this happening multiple times, but no more. The lady in charge of billing will talk in circles and act like she has no control over the situation. She certainly won't defend it - because it's not defensible.
