neibr is your neighborhood convenience store/ bodega, with thoughtfully curated items. It has a bit of everything, including fresh produce, eggs, snacks (chips, crackers, candy), beverages, dressings, tinned fish, condiments, pantry items, cereal, coffee, spices, salt, pasta, rice, canned goods, frozen pizza, cheeses, etc. You can pick up premade sandwiches from Uncle Paulie's and salads and dips from Natural Combo.
The items they carry aren't the typical mainstream brands. Expect to find smaller makers focused on quality. The frozen meat from Cream Co. came highly recommended. About half the store space is devoted to wine and spirits.
I spotted Uli's gelato, including the yogurt with cherry jam flavor. Froyo!
My picks:
* Japanese sweet potatoes
* Perfectly ripe large avocado, $1.99
* Dram sparkling water
* Zucchini
* Uncle Paulie's prosciutto sandwich with arugula, cheese, and fig jam on a baguette: Liked how the flavors balanced each other out, though I found the fig jam to be too sweet. The bread was soft and chewy.
* Natural Combo brown rice and mushroom salad: healthy and tasty
I went during the evening, so I didn't see pastries. read more
