The shop is relatively small but packed with unique items, fun gifts, hard to find snacks, wine and much more. Everything was well organized and displayed well. This place is such a cute superette. I want to gatekeep but they deserve recognition. They have a wonderfully curated niche selection of dry goods and cheese, local bread, snacks, and most importantly, wine. Their N.A. beverage selection is surprisingly good. Under new ownership this year (2024) Came in to check it out because I'm a bit of an explorer. Great little spot. I don't drink wine (I've evolved too much) - so I was impressed by the Liqour choices. Walked away with a few beers (like this pickle beer that I will now forever crave) and some organic snacks. Great little store with unique items. I came in with my 2 young (and loud) kids looking for a hostess gift and the 2 ladies working there were so kind and helpful. They even kept the littles busy for a bit so I could look around! They had a great selection of olive oil, jams, local made candles, unique snacks and gifts at reasonable prices. One of those places that poses the question - What does Vons/Ralphs/Trader Joes/Gelsons/Whole Foods not carry and is within walking minutes of my neighborhood? All these wines, and ales, and other drinkable things and most of them are from so small wineries, brewers and suppliers you wouldn't find them at the nearby 55 Degree, or even Silverlake liquors. Wine and Eggs is a very cute shop with a stunning yet cozy interior. Great colors! I really enjoyed the wine that was recommended by the sweet person I spoke with earlier today. They had cute hair clips and were super helpful since I really don't know much about wine/grew up drinking it out of a box. The store has a nice vibe and i look forward to trying some of their groceries soon. The fruit looked good! The friendly vibe & offerings kind of reminds me of a v fancy NYC bodega? I like it! A great specialty shop in the heart of Atwater, complete with a mix of fresh produce, baked goods, olive oil and hot sauces, natural wine, spritzers and other aperitifs, and non-alcoholic beverages. I'm literally obsessed with the minimal, funky interior and their collection of trendy products. The staff are knowledgeable and can help you pick out the perfect wine or beverage for any occasion. The wines are all generally priced fairly for a specialty shop. I love pet nats and they carry an entire shelf of them from all over the world! I'm based in Glendale so it's easy enough to get to via car (lots of street parking nearby or on the adjacent streets). I've also taken the 92 bus to get here. This amazing little local market opened yesterday, and I've been so excited watching them get ready every day as I walk by with my pup. I am so happy to have a little neighborhood spot where I can run to go grab an onion for my soup, a bottle of wine or ice cream for (another) night in, or a cute curated gift like a cutting board or special jar of jam. They're strictly adhering to covid policies (shouldn't everyone be doing this now?!), and no more than three customers inside at a time. Its a small space so I'm relieved it's three at a time. (It used to be the Art Room before). Some of the pricing still isn't up, and I hear the produce (all organic, yay!) will be priced by the pound. It will likely be more than a grocery store, but who wants to drive to a grocery store when I walk around the block to grab some onions or potatoes? Mind you, it won't be able to replace your weekly or monthly "big shopping" but it will do just fine in between. Can't wait to go back today and spend a little more time perusing (there were eager customers waiting outside so I didn't want to be THAT girl taking a hundred pics. ) read more

Cons: Maximum capacity: 3 people (if you don't like waiting, it can take a while), prices are on the higher end. My first visit to Wine + Eggs was a positive one. Got in line around 9:15am and waited about 15 min to enter as they only allow 3 people inside in the store. It's a small community market with specialty snacks, cheese, eggs, wine/beverages, and some home goods. The employees were kind and friendly and the market was well put together. They are now offering Sanditas Organic Rainbow dumplings in their freezer section which is great because I no longer have to order them online and pay a delivery fee, yay! The prices were a bit high but I did appreciate the well curated items in the store. It was enjoyable to see all the trendy snacks and condiments all in one place! Would love to come back next time I'm due for a splurge!!! read more

Funky little shop that has a cool selection of natural wine, lots of funky labels and brands that you aren't in some of the bigger wine shops like total wine or bevmo. They also have some cool liquors, liquers and also a very interesting array of non-alcoholic beverages for your friends that don't drink or if you're cutting back on alcohol. They also have some random produce and cool snacks and condiments to go with your wine! And yes they sell eggs and cheese. They also have some funky gifts that are good for kids. It's a really insteresting selection of goods in a tiny shop. Great place to stop by before going to the hollywood bowl for a concert or if you just want to have a little picnic or wine time at home. read more

Cool shop with a great selection of items. They are definitely a little higher than your average grocery price but for convenience sake this shop is the place to go to on like a weeknight when you're looking for inspiration to cook something. I honestly think they could do a lot better choosing employees here. There's this weird non-welcoming attitude happening. It's the type of energy you feel like you're irritating the employees by just merely existing or that they're way too cool to engage with you. Definitely some overlap with Cookbook but definitely different. Lots of delicious-looking food items to try, spices, dried beans, produce, sauces, stocks...this place is a foodie's haven. You could go here and spend 15 minutes looking for inspiration and then finding it in a bag of Zursun Paris Bistro blend beans, currently soaking on my stove for cooking tomorrow. Pipette and Glou Glou magazines (among others) on the wall. And wine...so much good wine! Crystal helped me cop a bottle of wine, a Super Real 2020 UNFILTERED NATURAL ORANGE (not my caps). I bought a bunch of eucalyptus for $8, which is a decent price compared to some plant shops. Haven't tried their wine or imported goods yet, but I plan on coming back soon! read more

This place is an absolute GEM. They somehow manage to pack in gorgeous produce, wine, useful home goods and more into the tiniest, most efficient space. Last week Kit (so kind and knowledgeable about the products) helped me find some great hot sauces and wine. They also carry Chainsaw desserts which is a great find! This place is an embarrassment. If you want overpriced thotchkes, candies, and other useless items, then come and let them take your money. W&E is a bite on other small businesses that actually have character. This place has nothing a well seasoned traveler can't find with a map. It's insulting the prices of useless items and really poor wine selection... there are better treasures out there, but you have to be willing to do the work. I bought a pack of "Calamares en su Tinta (Squid in its Ink)" pasta by Spiroli. This normal-sized package of pasta had an $8.00 sticker. Returning home, I found my receipt said $22.00. I called the cashiers, they confirmed $22.00 is the correct price. Annoying for an occasional miser like me (I would not have bought this item had I known; and a sourdough bread loaf runs $19 - yikes), but it's not the end of the world. Looking back, a smarter consumer could spend that money at a restaurant or other market (better value) and avoid getting fleeced by such a markup. Why did I go here again? I love this spot and always find exciting new products that become staples at my house. It's also a great place to find unique gifts for the foodie in your life! This place selectively enforces their maximum occupancy of 3. Of course they should be enforcing this during covid, but it felt really strange that it was enforced really selectively. While we were waiting in line there were like 8 people inside at certain times. We weren't sure if they were employees or something. But when we entered after 2 customers left, they told us we needed to wait. We looked around and there were like 5 shoppers there. Totally understand the need for max capacity, but why was no one else told this? Felt like a weird and unwelcoming vibe. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Cute store with some great stuff and the gal in it was sweet and I'm all for splurging on farmers market produce, while recognizing that my ability to do so comes from a place of economic privilege. But Toto, these groceries are for the 1%. The prices here are BANAYNAYS. Strawberries for $14. And in case you think that's just the cost of great stuff....they sell dates from bautista family farms (whose khadrawy dates are melt-in-your-mouth amazing when they first hit the season). At Cookbook (another shmancy gentrified grocer 5 mins away), a pint of these dates costs $6.50. At Wine & Eggs? $16. One six. Same dates. Nope. No thanks. Never again. There are gourmet grocers around (Ricks, Cookbook) whose prices are commensurate with very good farmers market produce. This kind of markup is beyond that - it's anti-community and an insult to the majority of Atwater which is still middle class. Please don't just accept this kind of nonchalant mega-inflation of prices. Not cool. read more
