Their wines are top notch, the customer service is always so friendly and welcoming whether via email, phone call or in person. This was by far my favorite winery in Chelan. Booking a reservation on their website is HIGHLY recommended. We reserved same day on 10.03.21. The Space & View: 5 stars When you show up you'll be greeted with a beautiful tasting room and a large window facing the water. Once you grab your wine head out the side door to the small patio area facing the uninterrupted view of lake chelan & the mountains! It's absolutely breathtaking. There are about 20 chairs all facing the water with side tables. This is why reservations are recommended. This space and view is the picture perfect description of a romantic chelan weekend. The Wine: 5 stars This was the last winery we visited on our weekend and by far our favorite, especially when it came down to the wine. Tasting consists of 4 wines and costs $15. This was pricier than some of the local tasting fees but so worth it. I was in love with every single one of the four wines and I haven't been able to say that at any of the other wineries. We ended up bringing home the 202 Viognier & 2019 Estate Syrah. However, I already regret not buying the other 2. Tasting fee waived with 2 bottle purchases. The Service: 5 stars I wish I would've caught their names but the 2 ladies working on 10.03.2021 at 2:30pm were an absolute delight. Very kind and welcoming. After we received our initial pour they brought out our little tray with the rest of the wines to us outside. Checked in on us during our time there. Just wonderful service all around. I came to Chelan on a weekend trip / first girls trip of 2020 this week and this was one of our stops. We had a party of 10 and they gave us a beautiful spot outside. Can't do this in Seattle! My first big group outting of 2020. So glad they can accommodate us all. Views are amazing. Wine is even better! We did the tasting. I love the consequence! And their Syrah, Malbec and then some. This is a small place that caters to small groups; do not go if your party is over 6, unless you have a reservation. Children count as a person. We enjoyed their Syrah and purchased their current Syrah from the Lake Chelan AVA and their 2012 from the Columbia Valley. Yes, it still held up and at least one of us thinks the 2012 has more life. After making an appointment at another nearby winery for a tasting and getting horrible service we managed to get into here and they did not disappoint. Nefarious Cellars is a relatively new winery on the scene in Lake Chelan however, they are by far the most exciting winery to appear in the AVA thus far. A good portion of their grapes are estate grown and are an excellent representation of Chelan's terroir. The Wine Gnome and I were lucky enough to catch Heather and Dean (the owners and winemakers) on the day that I arrived. They and their staff were friendly and accommodating. They were tasting 3 wines: A red blend, a Malbec and their latest Riesling. All wines were approachable and delicious. I drove back and picked up their Malbec after visiting all of the wineries on the South Shore, which gives you an indication of the quality of their wines. I was especially wowed by the Riesling (and I'm not a sweet wine fan). It was bone-dry and had a juicy complexity that reminded me of Starburst candies that I enjoyed so much when I was a kid. No visit to Chelan would be complete without a visit to Nefarious Cellars. Do yourself a favor and order a glass of their Riesling, stay and enjoy the view of the lake. read more

Great little winery on a hill overlooking Chelan Lake with a very good Estate Syrah. A taste of four wines is $5, but this can be applied to a purchase of a bottle. Definitely worth checking out if you are in Chelan. This is a great spot too to bring a picnic on a sunny day, as they have a nice area out front of the tasting room with colorful Adirondack chairs, wood tables, and lovely flowers overlooking the estate vines and Lake Chelan. Win win win! Chelan is really coming into their own with their wines, and it's people like Dean and Heather that make it that way. Their gorgeous tasting room overlooks Lake Chelan. When asking where they get their grapes from, I love that they are able to say, "right there!" So awesome. The doggy in charge of hospitality, Lucy, is sweet as can be. She even tried to get in our car when we left! But on to what matters, the wine. It's all fantastic, and the syrah was what I went home with. Trekked up their driveway to their hilltop tasting room on a whim yesterday. We were driving along the lake, and saw them on top of the hill, and chose them as the one winery for us to stop by. We only had time for one, and this one just looked cool :) Dean and Heather have an excellent new Winery. I was very impressed with all of their offerings. They were pouring a Viogner, The Consequence, Syrah, and a beautiful Cabernet. I especially loved the views of their tasting room. Seriously the best you're going to find in Chelan. Excellent choice of real estate! We really enjoyed ourselves here, and really liked the family running it. This was the first stop on our wine tour being that it was the only one on the south shore to open earlier than 12pm. We arrived at 11:15am, so I imagine we were one of the first, if not the first visitor of the day. The grounds are beautiful and it is a cute story. They opened up in 2005 there so they are definitely new-er in the area. But I have to saw I am in agreement with the other reviewers. I wasn't really WOW-ed either. I had to ASK the guy pouring us the story of the winery and we made some small talk from there. Personally, I like the employees to make a connection with the customers because ultimately that makes people want to buy. I think people can agree with me that, whether you know a lot or nothing about wine, what makes you ultimately buy the wine - especially the first time - is because of the experience. All the other wineries I purchased from that day definitely had more to do with the experience than just the wine itself. What really could make this winery take off is a fresh THEME. Every winery is owned by a family, so play with it and make it your own. Marketing yourself is the other part of the buying equation. Would I come back here on my own accord? - Probably not. I think they make good wine, it just wasn't enough for me to buy some, although other members of our group did. Side note - the tasting bar is REALLY tall so short people (and I am only 5'4'') beware! read more

We came up on a Saturday excited to try their wines. Not a lot of cars in the parking lot, but the tasting room was crowded. We could hardly get through the door and we didn't exactly know where the line began or ended. This place is good and worth a try. The view is beautiful and the wine was delicious. We left with a bottle of the 2017 Syrah. Their rosé was in limited quantity which shows how loved it was. However you can only do a tasting at the tasting bar and can't wander outside, which was a bummer. We came near closing time, but felt as if we were being rushed (which is to be expected, but still). I would definitely return, but next time get a bottle on ice and enjoy the outdoor area! read more

OK, I may be just a teensy bit biased as the winemakers are my cousins. ;) But I was just up visiting family in WA and had the opportunity to stop by Nefarious and - totally unofficially - check out their wares. My pathetic excuse for expertise is in CA wines, specifically Santa Ynez/Los Olivos area. So I love a big Rhone-style red as much as the next gal. I wasn't sure WA reds could compete with the reds I love, given the climate, and I was wrong. Dean and Heather make some lovely, whole-body-satisfying reds. I especially loved their Malbec (one of my faves). Their whites are yummy too; the Viognier and Riesling are bright and gorgeous. Pricing was far more reasonable than comparable stuff I routinely pay twice as much for in LA. Wine magazine accolades aside, what makes visiting Nefarious so cool is the warm hospitality and family-run vibe their pretty spot exudes. From Lucy, the golden retriever that WILL try to go home with you, to the 'makers and their gorgeous winery, I'd bet even if you're not technically family you'll walk away feeling like you are. If you're visiting the area you should definitely stop by! read more

This tasting room has spectacular views of Lake Chelan. The wine host was very cool and friendly. The tasting room looked like a fancy barn with beautiful lavender plants along the walkway. The tasting room had a photo of the young owners and the host gave us a brief explanation of their start. The only thing I would change is have water on the counter for tasters between sips. Did not buy any product. They do not keep large inventories of product on hand so when it gone that's it. I believe it's a new product each season. read more

We were hesitant because we arrived at 4:30pm knowing they closed at 5pm and might be less than enthused to served us as we'd encountered at other wineries. But our whole experience from start to finish was lovely and memorable. We ended up purchasing a bottle of the 2018 Syrah & Malbec. Both so delicious!!! Update: After we left to a nearby winery, the manager made the effort to reach out and inform us that the situation was not intentional and actually had hoped we settled in the grass front so he could accommodate us. We returned shortly after to thank the same employee for the gesture... It still wasn't the best experience... He still acted rushed and just not all too friendly. The gentleman who assisted us seemed to be in a bad mood, full of attitude, like we were inconveniencing him in a huge way. Not a good vibe at all. We always make reservations here when we visit Chelan. We have always loved our experience and the wine. Today our reservations were for 4:00, an hour before closing time. When our visit began we were told we could do a tasting and/or purchase a bottle/glass pour- as is the case at all wineries. Towards the end of our tasting at 4:30 with 30 minutes before closing we asked if we could purchase a glass. Our pourer told us ... "well the patio closes at 5." We felt immediately unwelcome after his comment and that the employees just wanted us to leave so they could go home. Our pourer never checked back with us about the glass of wine we asked about. We bought wine and he had it all wrapped up and ready to go so we would be gone quickly. So completely unwelcoming and disappointing. We always talk about how we love Nefarious and tell our friends about it. We are so thankful we didn't bring friends with us today because it would have been completely embarrassing. The view here is gorgeous. The wine is pretty good but I was turned off by the staff who, on both occasions I have visited, have been unfriendly. We had a group of 9 so they would not let us taste but instructed us to purchase bottles and head outside. (Maybe we should have said we were a group of 5 and 4?) We were told we had to sit outside which is understandable as we were a large party but the delivery of their "strict" instructions needs some work. We were also told they have a "hard" close at 6 due to guests in the guesthouse. The guy working the front was gracious enough to give us an extra 5 minutes to finish our wine. Businesses are entitled to their own standards but its probably a good idea to be friendly when imposing them if you want return customers. read more
