I gather all the ridiculous supplies that we had accumulated to try to make this thing a reality and head over to Claudia, ready yo be laughed out of the store. I mean, any serious seamstress would look at my pile of nonsense and laugh and say no way that's a waste of time. Not Claudia! She did laugh at our first attempt (fair, it was terrible and I was laughing with her), and asked for a picture of what we were trying to create. Get this: I showed her a crappy YouTube video of a guy making the costume and she asked me to pause on the finished reveal ... and took her phone out and took a picture of it! She took 2 pictures of tiny, low quality video pauses on my phone with her phone ... and turned it into MAGIC! She had it ready by 10/13 so the kids had some time to wear it going into Halloween and when we picked it up, it looked better than the YouTube guy's! It looked like a mascot costume, it was sooooo good. She had mesh in the eye holes and mouth so the kids could see through it, and even added fingers. The kids were ecstatic! They had such a fun time with it. It's even better - October has a wedding season and she was furiously working on wedding outfits. I was hoping for more Capri pants which were out of stock. Instead, she offered to have her seamstress hem the longer pants to look like Capri's with the little side slit at the hem for a nominal fee. That is a person who goes all out to please her customers. Since I live 2 hours from the shop, I called and ordered them to be shipped. What was so adorable, was that the owner offered to meet me in a nearby city in the Bay Area to bring them to me since she is coming to visit a friend anyway. It really touched me how genuinely caring and sweet this owner is and how she is willing to go the EXTRA MILE. (Pun intended!) The lady told me the end of the week it would be done. Never herd back. Called a week 1 1/2 weeks later and the owner went to check on it and said "oh its still sitting where you left it on the front counter, I'll have it done today for you! We'll decided to let that go and myself and my husband went in and ordered his SAR hat(as tgey are the only ones that can do them). We were specifically told 1 to 1 1/2 weeks. Well that passed and I called and left a message asking where our order was. I received a text back stating it was done. Drove down there and it wasn't even correct! They didn't even put my husband's name on it! So I have to drive all the way back(we live up country) to get it today. I called and asked for a discount due to the issues. He said what issues? So I told him it wasn't ready when promised and then you told me it was done when it wasn't and now I have to drive all the way back. He just went silent! I said "I'll take that as a no?" He goes ya no it was just delayed...then he says I think I told you we were backed up. I told him no sorry that was never told to us and it was more than just delayed that it wasn't even right when you said it was completed. He then said well you already paid right and I said yes to he just offered a discount on a future purchase. I told him we wouldn't ever come back after both orders being a mess and neither being done when told, Im sure glad we didnt need them by a certain time! Told him he had crappy customer service as well. Not sure why he can't understand there was way more wrong than just a delay with both orders and a discount for the hat issues should be given.(not store credit). If it was done correctly when he said it was and I went to go get it then a little delay would have been OK but this is unexceptional! I wouldnt recommend having any work done here!
