Very disappointed loaded my snow blower into car and brought to this establishment after hearing their ad on BBZ radio, and when I got there they claimed that they don't service Cub Cadet machines! Small independent business in West of Boston Suburb. Brought my Power Washer in for non-start issue, Troy-Bilt 10-years old, did a self tune up in 2022 always use stabilizer and gas treatment fuel. just stopped working. and being 'lazy' and busy decided to stop by and see if they do 'repairs', i thought the choke / throttle mechanism was broken. they said sure let us take a look. This is where my "BAD" began, i felt comfortable, neighborly with the guy. inside a week i get a call that its ready and fixed. i stopped today, $120. diagnosis, bad fuel. they clean carburetor, replaced spark plug and a gasket, and used 1/4 gal fuel, with disposal fees $120!! I think i paid $120 NEW 10-years ago, probably could by new equivalent replacement for less than $200 today. This is on Me, they were efficient, nice, knowledgeable, convenient, etc. But i should not have let my guard down with vendors in the perceived "Rich/Stupid/Who cares" suburbs of Boston. I grew up in Brockton, have family there still. When I want anything done in Needham it cost 2x what it cost in Brockton just because of the Zip Code. Buyer be Aware, ask for an estimate and labor rates, etc. such before being stung. I have not even tried to start it, just hoping it works but again this is on me. I took a 15 plus year chainsaw in to Needham Garden Center to have primer bubble replaced and chain sharpened. Explicit instruction to not further fix other than primer bubble since so old and had just been working fine before I took it in. Told them to call me before undertaking any additional work. Went in to pick up and got bill for $107. They went ahead and did additional work without my authorization-- tuning up I suppose. No sorry, no apology, but a promise that the owner would call-- which he has not. Will not go back. Have been a customer for over 20 years. Sorry to see this lack of follow up and lack of concern for my instructions. read more

I bought a used Toro snowblower from Farina's in Watertown two years ago. The salesman there told me the machine was a few years old when it actually was 14 years old. I discovered that when I went to the Toro web site to register the machine. (Don't go to Farina's). During the first snow storm this winter, I could not get the machine to move while the thrower worked fine. Anyway, I was not about to return to Farina's. My neighbor told me that he went to Needham Garden Center (NGC). I called NGC and described the problem. NGC would pick-up my machine, fix it, and return it to me. The rep said it might take about two weeks. So, I asked him to call me if he found an opening in his schedule to take the machine sooner. He called about five days later and NGC got the machine the next day. NGC repaired the machine in about two or three days and returned it to me with the well-worn belts that drive the wheels and the thrower. NGC is really good!!! read more

I moved to town over Christmas.. No snowblower & the winter which was determined to break me! By the first of February the snow along my driveway was over my head (I'm vertically challenged) and I was having a melt down. These guys were the only place helping you to find a snowblower, assemble, deliver, and provide instruction on it. I was able to order one early Feb, due to the fabulous weather it was delayed a while in reaching the store, but once there they set up & delivered prior to another big storm. Thank you the staff for putting up with my emotional breakdown while shopping for one, always calling to ask "is it there yet?"; and then answering my silly questions. You all were wonderful. We bought an Ego leaf blower and an Ego lawn mower from Needham Garden Center. Both products are great since they are battery-powered but stronger than gas-powered equipment, and also they are almost silent. The only other licensed dealer of Ego products in greater Boston is the evil orange-colored superstore chain whom we absolutely do not like. We were very happy to be able to purchase these at the family-run Needham Garden Center, which has been an institution in town for many years. And their prices beat the other guys. read more

I called the store during the COVID-19 pandemic about my power washer that was running but not working. The person answering the phone advised me, politely and professionally, that I likely froze the pump during the winter months, the pump likely needs replacing and the cost of replacement might be equal to (or more) than a new power washer. I appreciate his patience and time and will most definitely be back with my lawn mower when it's time for a tune-up or repair. read more

My snow blower is two years old. Purchased new for $1000 at Needham Garden Center. Followed all maintenance directions for seasonal storage. This year in December it would not start. Needham Garden Center picked it up. They did not have a receipt for me. Had to trust the carrier as being legit. The truck had no identification. The snow blower was returned and placed into my driveway without notiffying me that it had been delivered. It was in a position that was hidden from my view. i had to call to find out it had been delivered. The problem was that the fuel was not feeding. The carbureator needed cleaned. No estimate was provided which i expected. i received a call on the delivery day that $379.91 was due in order to have it delivered. The delivery charge for 5 miles was $80. The entire carbureator was replaced and i was charged $5 to dispose of afull tank of gas which was replaced by a quart. I have to rate the prices and communication at the needham garden center as outrageously high and patheticlly poor. I feel like i was gouged having received no estimated before repair. i expected the deliver man to run the machine when it was delivered to confirm that it had been repaired to working condition. He just dumped it off in the driveway without notifying me. this company is unprofessional and i am very unhappy with them. In the future i shall employ the company that has serviced my other gasoline engines...TLP in Dedham. read more

This is a can-do business, plain and simple. These are honest, knowledgeable people who are consistently helpful and always get the job done, well. I have gotten my lawn mower and snow blower serviced there over the years and have always been completely satisfied. I have also purchased several bird feeders and accompanying squirrel-proofing accessories and the quality of the products as well as their no-nonsense advice has been absolutely first-rate. And, on rare occasions, since I know nothing about flowers and/or gardening, I have called Needham Garden Center to ask for their suggestions on how to better take care of plants (i.e. a rose bush and hydrangea) our family has been given as gifts and the staff members are more than willing to offer me their always sound guidance. Perhaps I'm a bit old-fashioned, but in this modern era of increasingly impersonal online shopping, I make a point to try, when I can, to patronize local businesses even though the prices might not be as attractive as those found on the internet. I am one who appreciates good service, know-how, integrity and accountability which, for me, is always worth the price. Needham Garden Center fills that bill (and more) quite admirably. read more

This is the ONLY place you should take your lawn mower, snow blower, or any other power equipment if it breaks. They know their stuff. My father broke his mower last week and I brought it in. Good luck if you bought your mower at Home Depot and it breaks, they aren't fixing it. The mechanics here are the best. My machine was ready the next day and looking and working brand new. While they have plants I think they specialize in all the other garden item you need. The place is packed floor to ceiling and the kid who helped me knew where everything was. Screw Home Depot and Lowes shop here and support the local guys. The service is much better and they actually know what their talking about! read more

Brought my 8 year old snow blower in for repair..... something happened to the drive train at the end of the season and it no longer moved forward. It also needed a new scraper blade. Other than that it ran fine. Dropped it off and a few days later they called with my estimate. "It's really not worth fixing, it's around $500 total". When I asked why so much he said that the transmission, the blade and the tuneup all added up....the weren't willing to just fix the drive issue. "We don't do that" meaning he won't half-ass fix it I assume. So I picked it up (along with a baggie of parts that they took off) paid the $35 estimate charge (that they never mentioned btw) and left. On they way home I decided to swing by Metrowest Small Engine Repair in Natick and get a second opinion.... One week and $120.76 later it's running like new. Drive train fixed, new scraper blade, plugs and an oil change..... And power washed! I feel like I saved $1000 not having to buy a new snow blower. Middle of a large snowstorm today and NGC was willing to look at my snowblower. I had pretty much diagnosed the problem. They took it from there, fixed the problem and one other issue too. They even tested out the unit before telling me it was ready for pickup. Many thank yous. The guys were great. Need to have them look at my lawn tractor this spring. Saw they sell bird food too. Thanks to the Yelpers review on the Needham Garden Center, we took our lawn mower there since it was not working, and needed a serious tuneup. Left the mower and they called in 3 days for us to pick it up, They had it working beautifully. The guys there are courteous, pleasant and do an excellent job. We will come back. Also, they cleaned it up so nicely, that when they wheeled it out to us, my husband said "are you sure that's our mower?" It did look great. read more

I always take my small engine equipment (power washer, lawnmower and snow blower) here for repair and tune-ups. Been doing so for years. I always get a three day turnaround which is fast and convenient. They have stood by there work from the very first time I used them. Most recently I took my power washer in for repair. Got it back within the three days as usual. However after fifteen minutes it just stopped working. I took it back. They fix it with no hassle and no charge. There are two small engine repair businesses closer to where I live but I find it is worth going the extra few miles to have the work done by the Needham Garden Center! read more

I have been a customer of Needham Garden Center for over 7 years. They have tuned up my trusty Toro Snowblower every year and performed repairs on it when I have run over hidden newspapers and chunks of asphalt. This year my snowblower had to work overtime because of all the snow we have experienced. My Toro was starting to "complain" this morning and although it was running it stopped moving just as I was finishing up what seems like my daily clearing of my driveway and walks. I called NGC up and as luck would have it those terrific folks at NGC came by about an hour later and picked up my snowblower. I just heard from them that it is now repaired and it will be delivered tomorrow. Thats a 24 hour turn around door to door. I don't expect that kind of service in the middle of Snowaggedon but when it happens it tells me I am certainly at the right place. I went in for a starter gear for a briggs motor. The counter person, although courteous, would not try to find the part in the stockroom without a part number for the engine. This is a Briggs opposed twin lawnmower engine and the plastic starter gear is very common. He said there were 3 part #'s and he would have no idea where to look in his parts room without an engine model #. He did say they most likely had it in stock. Why not grab the 3 gears and I would pick out the right one. I was asking for an individual part so it was apparent I had or would be removing the part. I never got as far as to say "well I have the gear with me can you match it up". He seemed too busy to be bothered. Bought it on amazon after a 2 minute search. read more

I went to Needham Garden Center the day after the Blizzard of 2013 to purchase a snow blower. I was there at 9:00AM . A lot of roads were still unplowed. I bought the snow blower at around 9:15. I was told that it would be delivered in about two hours. At around 11:00 it was delivered with a full tank of gas and worked great! Thanks again, I will be back. read more

Just want to give a shout out to NGC! Late last year I bought the biggest meanest snow blower possible since I wasn't going to let last winter come my way unprepared. This weekend, taking it out, for the first time, I could barely turn the thing. Clocking in at 5'4", it was way more machine than I could handle. Without fuss/muss, they gracefully let me trade in the beast for something more my size, picked up the old and brought out the new. Another company would have said anything between "No", or a crazy re-stocking fee, delivery fees etc. Instead, they treated me like a long standing customer which I loyally remain. Very expensive and the staff is rude to boot..... I've been in there a few times only for convenience purposes each time I've had the unfortunate luck of being helped by an older man, he might even be the owner. Each time he was obnoxious, rude and extremely grumpy! Grumpy seems to fit a certain generation of people. The place to go for power equipment. We started out with a snowblower last winter, graduating to a commercial power leaf blower and now to fixing our power washer. Always accurate guidance and advice. They may seem a bit short on weekends but the place is overrun with customers. They recommend the right sized machine for the job each time and stand behind the products sold. To me the peace of mind that they will service the equipment over time far outweighs saving $50-75 on line. Especially important when hundreds of machines need prep for the winter. Three points never to forget that they will remind you about: always change the oil on these machines before its too late, always put gas stabilizer in the fuel before putting it away for the off season, and keep the right gas on hand ( two stroke for blowers and power washers) while regular unleaded for four stroke snow blowers. Previously, I've been really impressed with the service at this garden center. Today I called in to see if they have a specific part for my snowblower in stock, and was surprised at the reluctance of the sales person to check for me. She wanted me to bring in the old part, and then at that point, she'd check if she had a replacement. I told her I'd already looked up the part number on the toro website, I gave it to her, she wrote down the number. She went away to check, but then came back and again told me to bring in the old part. I said I didn't want to waste a trip if they didn't' have the part in stock, but she basically just refused to check for me. VERY DISAPPOINTED! If I hadn't previously had such a good experience with this store, I would not have been surprised, but I have to say I'm pretty disappointed at this new attitude to customers. This store costs more than many others, and usually I've been happy to pay because the service was good. It's a shame. I'll order the part I need online, and look foranother local dealer who wants my business. read more
