Dark humor in the title of this shop
    Maria T.

You've got to love a store owner with a sense of humor! Dark humor at that! Naming your consignment/antique shop after a scary Stephen King novel is a bold move, indeed. Thankfully, the proprietor of this shop isn't Leland Gaunt, but a nice, welcoming woman who has an eye for unique treasures, trifles and trinkets. Included in her well-stocked, little store, are some beautiful Lladro figurines, stunning glassware and vases, collectibles, candle holders, paintings, statuary and a few sticks of eclectic furniture. Yes, she just may have the perfect item you've been looking for! (Insert evil laugh here...mwah ha ha) In the back room, you'll find a collection of lamps, rugs, pillows, housewares, knick-knacks, bric-a-brac and conversation pieces. There are several shelves loaded with cool, retro toys, some sports memorabilia, Simpson's figures, superhero things, and even a big Hello Kitty Pez dispenser! And among these nifty items, are the ever-present creepy clown paintings and gnome figurines that befit the name of the store. Up front the blue shutters (shuddering) are lined with fun earrings, and a couple glass cases with some other jewelry and baubles including some pretty turquoise. I loved the shadow box full of brooches and pins, especially the armadillo pin! Some come inside this shop of antiques, curiosities and oddities, if you dare, to find the secret desire of your heart. "Buy now, pay later" may not apply in this store, unlike the novel which inspired the Netflix title "Stranger Things". A keepsake here may be your "Answered Prayers".

I lost a piece to my watch and the owner helped me out for free. Very generous and I look forward to coming back!

Very pleased with having a treasured ring sized; it was also nicely polished. Will definitely return with other items to be repaired.

Very low pressure, very open to ideas and suggestion, and they have a TON of cool things.

I started looking at the racks outside and felt very hopeful after looking at the prices. The store is very organized in my opinion. As a midsize, borderline plus size girl, it was really easy to find clothes that actually fit. The dressing rooms were convenient, the selection is good quality and I love the brands they have, the pricing really isn't that bad. It's a curated selection of what's fashionable without breaking the bank. I'm glad there's one in Richmond, I'm glad there's one in Virginia Beach! More on that later though on their actual business page lol

Unfortunately, we stepped inside about 35 minutes before they were going to close. Others came in after us. No one, and I mean NO ONE, spoke to us when we came in. We browsed around & a young lady came and slammed a pair of jeans in front of me on the rack. She did say "excuse me" while doing so, but the attitude was very clear. Not sure why people get so upset when they are still open. At that point, I knew I wasn't purchasing anything from that store. I had to get my son out of there, but he was still excited at some of the things he was finding. He's a teen - He doesn't pay attention to bad attitudes or poor customer service the way I do. So, he was unfazed. The longer we stayed, the more irritated that young lady looked. I walked out because he was taking too long browsing & I could feel myself getting upset by her behavior. They brought in the racks from outside & the young man did finally say "hello" to me as I was walking out. Weird! Even if he was ready for everyone to leave, he didn't show it as rudely as the young lady did. Instead of being called "Uptown Cheapskate", they should rebrand as "Uppidy, Stuck Up & Rude Cheapskate". That fits them more accurately. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back & their men's section is extremely small compared to the rest of the store. They won't see a penny of my money!
