As a midsize, borderline plus size girl, it was really easy to find clothes that actually fit. The dressing rooms were convenient, the selection is good quality and I love the brands they have, the pricing really isn't that bad. It's a curated selection of what's fashionable without breaking the bank. I'm glad there's one in Richmond, I'm glad there's one in Virginia Beach! Unfortunately, we stepped inside about 35 minutes before they were going to close. Others came in after us. No one, and I mean NO ONE, spoke to us when we came in. We browsed around & a young lady came and slammed a pair of jeans in front of me on the rack. She did say "excuse me" while doing so, but the attitude was very clear. Not sure why people get so upset when they are still open. At that point, I knew I wasn't purchasing anything from that store. I had to get my son out of there, but he was still excited at some of the things he was finding. He's a teen - He doesn't pay attention to bad attitudes or poor customer service the way I do. So, he was unfazed. The longer we stayed, the more irritated that young lady looked. I walked out because he was taking too long browsing & I could feel myself getting upset by her behavior. They brought in the racks from outside & the young man did finally say "hello" to me as I was walking out. Weird! Even if he was ready for everyone to leave, he didn't show it as rudely as the young lady did. Instead of being called "Uptown Cheapskate", they should rebrand as "Uppidy, Stuck Up & Rude Cheapskate". That fits them more accurately. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back & their men's section is extremely small compared to the rest of the store. They won't see a penny of my money!

A variety of sizes, colors, household goods and more. Prices have gone up in a few years but the quality of what's been donated remains good.

We brought FIVE bags total -- 2 huge trash-bag-sized bags and 3 other decent-sized bags, with one of those bags full of shoes. Somehow they were "finished" looking through EVERYTHING in about 15 minutes. Then we were told basically nothing was good because the clothes were "outdated," "too mature," or "not in season." That explanation made no sense to us because we literally brought clothes for every season -- summer, fall, winter, and spring -- plus an entire bag of shoes. I understand Plato's Closet is selective. I wasn't expecting them to buy every single thing or even most of it. But 5 bags of clothes and shoes being completely evaluated in around 15 minutes felt ridiculously rushed. It genuinely made us question how thoroughly everything was even looked at. The worst part isn't that they didn't buy anything. It's that we spent the time gathering everything, packing it, bringing 5 bags into the store, and waiting just for the whole thing to feel rushed and dismissed. Definitely a 1-star experience for me. I'd rather donate the clothes than go through all that again.

These women work hard and I have witnessed customers being belligerent to them while they remain professional and calm. Policies are policies. I do find that the prices have increased particularly on dresses from what I have noticed. However, overall I love this location. I love chatting with the ladies and find they have a great selection. I rarely leave without purchasing. I also sell there pretty regularly and have never found them to be unfair. If you're wanting more money for your items Clover is an option or selling on Poshmark. But there is convenience in not having to set an appointment or sell items one at a time on Poshmark. So no, you're not going to get top dollar for your items but you don't have to deal with the hassle of doing it other ways. You receive an in store discount if you wait for your buy which is what I do, and then I take store credit to put it back towards the next sizes I need. I also want to note that I find their selection FAR better in terms of brands than their counterpart. Their selection is closer to what you'd find at Clover which also carries mostly nice brands.
