On my way home from work, starving and needing something to eat, I remembered Ned's. This little spot on Pitfield Street opened a few months ago and has begged me to try it, since.
I walked in, and was pleasantly greeted with a hello and a smile. I looked through the options and decided what I fancied, then stepped up to the counter. I decided on the Udon (thick Japanese style) noodles with the Yakisoba (sweet and ginger) sauce. The boxes all come with carrots, onions, broccoli, peppers and maybe another thing or two, but you can request for it to come without a vegetable you don't like. I am picky about meat I'll eat, so I enquired about the chicken and whether it was white meat. The girl taking my order seemed quite confused about my question and said that it was chicken. The guy who appeared to be running the show verified they used boneless chicken breast. Awesome news! Some veggie spring rolls with a side of sweet chili sauce added to the order, and that was it.
I waited maybe five minutes for my food and then I was off!
The spring rolls came in an adorable little take-away box and were quite good.
The noodles were nice. I'm not a huge fan of ginger, so next time I will request it without, though if you do like it, they give a good amount and it's fresh. I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken, though it was as they said.
I will surely return and be happy to do so. read more
