I have been trying to get through to someone for 6 separate days in a row of calling and have sat on hold up to 2 hours and 12 minutes with no answer. There should be a negative star rating systems on Yelp as this company would surely receive that from me. I received a collection letter in the mail yesterday from NCO stating that I owe $93.75 from the City and County of SF. I am assuming it is a ticket. But either way, I have not received a ticket or claim for monies owed. As far as I understand from living in SF for 11 years, if the City and County of SF leaves a ticket on your vehicle, they will follow up with a letter to the address they have on file that is linked to the VIN number of the vehicle. I have not received this kind of follow up letter requesting monies owed. Also, I have been at the same address for over 5 years, this all is very suspicious. The other very odd yet coincidental occurrence is that my boyfriend, let's call him Dr. P, also received an identical letter recently. He said he paid the bill as he didn't want to hassle with this but he tells me upon hearing my story that he also never received said ticket or claim for money owed from the City and County of SF. Instead of paying them off as was my first inclination (who wants to have the threat of bad debt looming over their heads), I have written them as is mentioned on the letter to see if they can send me evidence of this money that I apparently have not paid and that I owe them. I will report back with the results when (if) I hear from them. 9/1/11 Spoke to a friend who is in Customer Service who confirmed that I should contact them in writing within 30 days to dispute the claim. See the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, section 809(a). In that, they will need to provide proof on it. Of course no one likes this company as it's a collections agency. I racked up some traffic tickets in Illinois and they were sent to collection. This all starts with extreme stupidity on my part, first getting those tickets, then not paying on time. My bad, right? Right. So it goes to NCO financial and they were agreeable enough to take some of the total off my bill. So that was nice. I made a down payment and then made about 3-4 payments after that. Somewhere along the way I lost the original letter and didn't have the account number. They were able to look me up just fine for those payments though. Somewhere in the middle of this, they called my boss. Not me, my boss, whom I'm working under the table for. This was of course embarrassing for me and made no sense for them- why not call ME??? At this time I called, made another payment, told them to delete my boss' number (how they ever got a hold of it is beyond me), and asked them to send me a bill by mail. Now it's time for another payment and they can't find me. I provided all the same info as usual and none of the tellers can figure out what I'm talking about. I owe about $350 still. I still haven't received any bills in the mail. I guess if they don't want my money I'm okay with that, I just hope that their disorganization doesn't hurt my credit. So yeah, be prepared bass ackwardness from these people and hang onto your account and confirmation numbers because I guess they can't. read more

The firsr time I heard of this company was a few yrs ago when i sent a letter to them to cease and desist which they did. However, a few days ago i found them back on my case via a phone call stating that they were calling to pursue a debt? On my phone so that it could be heard by all? I immediately called the company and got the run around until I told a Mr A that if they called again i would see them in court. I called an Atty and started the process because : 1 They refused to allow me to speak with the person who left her name 2 Refused to give me thier address and contact number for HR 3 Told me to never call again and hung up I made a 4th call and was finally told that they had removed me from thier list and i never asked them to do so. This tells me that they are committing crimes, and which i do not believe the boss is aware of. I had a legitimate debt that went to NCO and wanted to get it paid off ASAP to clear it off my credit score. They were very pushy but I expected this and didn't care. They offered a settlement amount that was good until the end of the month (FYI, there is no real settlement payment due date, they can accept a settlement at any time so the "due date" is just to pressure you to paying sooner). I asked them to fax and/or mail the settlement agreement to me before I made the payment. Each time they mailed me the letter, the payment due date was dated for the end of the week so by the time I got the mail, it was already too late to pay in time according to the letter. The faxes they sent me also kept failing and they said that they had no control over their ability to fax to me because a different department handled faxes. Each time I tried to contact them about this issue, they got very rude (especially the supervisor) saying they have been very generous with my requests . I politely and clearly told them that getting rude with me wouldn't motivate me to pay them any sooner and that sending me letters with unreasonably early payment due dates was making it impossible for me to pay on time. I might as well have been talking to a brick wall because all I got back was excuses ("we can't control how long it takes mail to get to you") and accusations (I wasn't really trying to work with them, I'm lying about successfully receiving their faxes) while ignoring me when I pointed out the fact that if any of the letters they sent me had a payment due date for the end of the month, I would've actually had time to pay in time after receiving each letter. SUMMARY: Very push, stupidly set payment due date to be sooner than I could receive the letter, will get as rude to you as possible on the phone before violating the FDCPA, terrible experience to work with. read more

No Hello, No information of who they are, or anything- Very bad customer service representation, very bad, and highly unprofessional. Ok, of course NCO is not going to get a 5 star from me but that's only because they are a collector. Naturally, nobody is going to be a fan of debt collectors, but that doesn't mean that the people working for NCO are automatically scammers. Like many people here I was also skeptical of the letter I've received from NCO saying I owe tuition money from the University of Houston. I decided to call up my school's financial aid office to verify the legitimacy of the letter. It turns out that NCO Financial Systems, Inc. is a third party collection agency for ALOT of companies and organizations. In my case, NCO working on behalf of the University of Houston, because I do in fact owe UH a past due balance from tuition. But since UH was NOT willing to work with me to setup a payment plan for my past due amount, there was nothing more I could do, I was forced to stop enrolling at UH, the amount owe is sent off to the collection department at UH, UH couldn't collect the full amount all at once like they wanted, so then the account is charged off (bought out by) NCO Financial Systems. Of course, in this process of all this, my personal information like social security number and student account number is transferred to a third party collection agency, but in my opinion that's only for identification purposes to make sure NCO is collecting from the right individual. I can't speak for other people who've had a bad experience with NCO. But I can at least say that in my case, NCO is doing a HELL OF A BETTER JOB than UH's financial aid office. The people at NCO does in fact identify themselves on the phone. I did NOT get any threats or harassment from NCO. WOW. Incompetence! Not only did I never receive any notice that I had something in collections (I only found it from checking my credit report) but, when I called in immediately to take care of it, I was told that it would be removed from my credit report. 13 months later and its still showing up that it's past due! I called them and they told me they'd re-send a letter to the credit bureau. That's it. By the way, it took me about 8 tries to get through to someone and the person I finally spoke with was almost incomprehensible with the way she mumbled and she was the most rude person I've ever spoken to on the phone. The NCO Group, Inc was absolutely an accounting entity. In fact, they were the largest collections organization ever upon their acquisition of OSI while I worked for them; on the Business Process Outsourcing side, however. The new CEO is effectively and efficiently implementing his exist strategy and NCO will likely be spun into a few separate companies. It's an abysmal corporate culture to say the least. I received checks from settlements of lawsuits regarding Collections Law while I worked there; that is outrageous! They were sued so often that employees received portions of the settlements. Good grief. They're gigantic, even while they dissolve. NCO is no "shady hoax." That place was awful to start my professional career. These folks called me, mistaking me for someone who faulted on an auto loan, and continued to badger me for months, citing I lived in such-and-such town (which I never did). When I asked them to send proof of the documents, etc., they declined, stating it was my debt and I needed to pay it. Couple months ago, I recd a letter from NCO Financial Systems stating that they bought out the bill from Asset Acceptance LLC, and they would accept $1,055.63 for the debt.I mailed a check for $1,055.63 check #6136 on 6/26/07 to NCO Financial System and now Asset Acceptance LLC wants that money.
