One piece of advice from Erin Benzakein from Floret about hiring a bookkeeper and accountant was that if you feel dumb or awful after meeting with either, then it's time for you to hire a new accountant/bookkeeper. I was having a hard time managing my own bookkeeping and was inquiring about this service. I met with Tara and she was condescending, defensive, and was gaslighting me when I started crying on the call after she went on a diatribe about the importance of bookkeeping. I also disagreed with her statement that "Bookkeeping is the backbone of your business." Unfortunately, Rose was also on the call and there wasn't any intervention. I would recommend Rose Brown only if you were just working with her and Darin, but would stay away if you are on a call with Tara.

I hired the sole proprietor/employee of this "company ", Mike Bankus to do my daughter's taxes for 2023. He said that he had no office, and claimed he was unable to find one for us to use but didn't want us to travel to him or know where he lived for "security reasons " so he asked if he could come to our home. I didn't think much of it at the time. He seemed pleasant enough however the tax forms had not been prepared ahead of time as we discussed several times over the phone. It took him hours to do the work that he had stated would take "15 minutes ". He left thing's unfinished and came back to the house a second time to complete the work that he was hired to do. Upon completion he asked for payment upfront and I paid what he asked for, $175.00. I thanked him and he left. Now, one month later he sends my daughter and I a "revised invoice " demanding an additional payment of $220.00 for trumped up , bullshit fees . Fees for services already paid for !! This all seems very shady, underhanded and certainly not trustworthy. I would recommend that anyone and everyone stay far away from Mike Bankus and this shell LLC that he has set up. If this goes any farther in it's degeneracy I'll update this Yelp post and make others on as many platforms as I possibly can to warn good citizens away from being scammed.
