Great experience! I needed pants to be hemmed, I was in and out. Reasonable price. Will definitely be going back in the future.

This is a customer focused business that provides good service in a reasonable time frame. The service is a good value for its cost.

Charlotte's Sewing Shop & School

(8 reviews)

I have wanted to sew for years and was delighted when I found Charlotte's sewing school. My…read moredaughter and I were empowered from day one to proceed on the sewing machine with confidence. Charlotte created her own pattern for a tote bag that has taught us so many different skills. I never imagined we would learn so much so soon. It really boosted our confidence. Charlotte generously offered to add a personalized embroidery decal to our bags, to the absolute delight of my daughter. Her students adore her. I am asthmatic and have severe allergies. I was initially unsure whether I would be able to participate in classes. Charlotte keeps her air purifier running and her sewing studio clean. I have never had a problem. If you have been thinking about sewing, do not hesitate to enroll with her. It will be the best gift you can give yourself.

I write this so that other parents will know what to expect if they choose to enroll their child in…read morethe program. 1) This is located in Charlotte's home (this is not advertised, and I didn't know until the first class) 2) Parents are not welcome there. Charlotte expects you to drop off your child and come back when class ends. My child is a newly 8 year old and I wasn't comfortable just leaving her with a stranger in the stranger's home whom I just met, so I stayed out of the way in a corner. Charlotte made plenty of insinuations that she did not want me there. Before the second class, I told my child I could just wait in the car outside, but my child was not comfortable there yet and asked me to be inside, so I did, figuring maybe the next time my kid would be fine with me waiting outside if everything went well this time. Halfway through the class, Charlotte rudely scolded me in front of her class saying I was distracting the students and stressing her out just by being there and that no other parent stays (mind you, this is only the second class). I asked a couple of the students I was near if I was bothering them in anyway and they stated I was not. I was planning to just be outside the door if I were distracting them. 3) She has small dogs that are gated from the sewing room, but in case anyone has allergies, you should know this. If your child has to go to the restroom, your child will have to go to the part of the house where the dogs are. 4) The classes start out with a tote bag with zippers and pockets-regardless of your sewing ability. So if you're brand new to the world of sewing, be prepared to spend 4+ hours just cutting and pinning and never getting to the sewing part. I get that learning patterns and cutting and pinning are essential, but I think a pillow would be the easiest thing to learn and also keep the interest and sense of accomplishment alive for a young learner. 5) Kids need to speak up. If you have a quiet or timid child, that child will not receive much attention or help. There are anywhere from 4-7 students at a time. Tbh, I think I stressed Charlotte out because being there allowed me to take note of the Delores Umbridge vibes she gives. My kid after class said she didn't like that Ms. Charlotte yelled at me. Trust your kid's guts.
