    Bear room

We couldn't find any campsites with availability and all the surrounding hotels were way over our budget. Luckily after some extensive googling we found this hotel and it was right in our budget. Check in was a breeze and finding the place was ez as well. We had seen the pictures online so we knew somewhat what to expect. The room is very outdated and the mattress is super firm for my taste but the overall charm of the room just won us over. Very impressed with all of amenities! We stayed in the bear room and had a very relaxing stay! In the room we found bear shaped snacks, toothpaste, deodorant, hair gel, bubble bath soap, and of course the basics like shampoo n soap. The fireplace was adorable and although the tv is an old tube tv the cable selection was pretty decent. Would I stay here again? Yes definitely !

This is the cleanest and quaintest little spot for $50 out the door you can enjoy I spot so meticulously put together you think you're are at home at a distant relatives house who's been putting things together for you for days to make your welcome so warm look at the room we stayed in everything so well thought out from toothpaste in the bathroom to bubble bath for your giant whirlpool bath for Valentine's day I I like it for just any day that you want a sweet surprise... off the beaten path with lots of lovely and charming things restaurants donut shops homemade biscuits and gravy right around the corner and the kind of warm and welcome you only find at home, loved it so stayed an extra 2 nights. ..

This place was great. Upon pulling up to Nature's Inn, it looked cute and rustic. As other reviews have stated, it could be updated to be more contemporary, but our group thought its appearance was quite appropriate for a snowy, mountain get-a-way. The parking lot was a bit small (the Inn was at capacity according to the "No Vacancy" sign) so we ended up having to double park our vehicles - a minor inconvenience but we ended up traveling in one car while we were there anyway. Around the parking lot is a long, wrap-around porch with lounge chairs, bench swings, potted plants, a barbecue, pet tethers and food/water bowls, trash cans and ash trays that made for a very inviting environment even before checking in(had it been above three degrees, I'm sure we would have been hanging out there). The office is small and cluttered, but despite the analog reservation system, check-in was actually very steam-lined and simple. Ed (the owner) had gotten in touch with us several times prior to our arrival (confirmation, weather/traffic updates, etc., all very helpful and appreciated) so check-in was a very familiar-feeling interaction; he remembered us. He was enthusiastic to have us and very knowledgeable about the area, its attractions, restaurants, road conditions, local deals and discounts, and was pleased to share pamphlets, brochures, and flyers with us about it all. Though the office seemed cluttered at first, it was actually laid out quite nicely once he explained what all of the papers were - he also knew exactly what everything was and where to find it. He offered us copies of newspapers, coupons, etc. and was delighted to make sure our time in Big Bear was enjoyable. He also provided complementary refreshments including locally grown (as in, from across the street) fruit. After check-in and a briefing of the area, we got a tour. The Inn has a sort of lounge with a pool table, board games, record albums, furniture, and a lot of seemingly random odds and ends. Though we didn't need or use any of it, it was nice to know it was available - Ed goes above and beyond to serve his guests (including clothing for backpackers to wear while they do their laundry). My girlfriend and I spent two nights (12/31-1/1) at Natures in with another couple. We opted for the Wolf Room, which, at $200/night is the "expensive room" and sleeps six. It offered a master bedroom with a king-size bed, full kitchen with appliances, kitchenware and utensils, two futons with plenty of extra bedding and blankets, gas fire place, full-size bathroom (with hot tub), and a backyard with a porch. It also has all the comfort items you would expect of a hotel (toiletries, coffee, tea, etc.) but maintains an older, rustic feel. The room was decorated nicely and was very comfortable. It fit four adults each with bags and snowboard gear just fine. The reason I gave Nature's Inn four stars instead of five is that it could use some work in order to appear a bit more professional. The floor in the kitchen had some tiles coming up, the shower head was not properly installed (though that could be the fault of the previous guests), and we had trouble locking the door (though Ed did warn us of that and demonstrate how to handle it). As for the old appearance and furniture - we loved it and thought it was very appropriate. We all had a great time at Nature's Inn and appreciate Ed and his staff for what they do to make it such a comfortable stay. Should we return to Big Bear, Nature's Inn will be the first place we contact for a room.

Me and my girlfriend found this place in a time of need when we had no where else to go. They were very friendly and acccepting of our situation, the management is great and always willing to help if they can. Our room the owl room is very cozy. The rooms as far as i know are very cheap. We found the natures inn at the perfect time.

We stumbled upon this gem on accident. We intended to camp, but the campgrounds aren't open till May. Anyway, Jerry the inn's manager gave my boyfriend and I the best service. He is really personable and helpful. His wife, Angel catered to our service dog, Maggie. She was quite giving. He put us in room 6, which has a HUGE therapeutic spa. The inn is off the main street, so it's quiet and the stars are stunning. They provided us with a wine opener and glasses. Cute and cozy place with character! We will be coming back. It's very clean, thanks Angel!

We chose a room with a kitchenette, and even for our short stay, it was a great convenience. Service is a little hit or miss. When we arrived our room was a bit stuffy so we tried to use the thermostat, which kept indicating a low battery. We called the front desk and the man who answered hesitantly said they'd tell maintenence. On our way out for dinner, we stopped by the front desk to remind them of our request and it was the same person who answered the phone. He was surprised and scrambled to find a sticky note to write it down. After all of that, we come back to the room to a note that it's been "fixed." The A/C and heat are controlled on the unit by the window itself, not the thermostat. So why not say that the two times we asked about it? The entrance and exit are towards the road behind the main street through down, which has restaurants, a 7-11, and other places you can easily walk to -- if they had an exit facing the main road. We had to walk around the building, climb over the railing and then make our way to the sidewalk.

However, I was disappointed that the bathroom in Room 363 already had some maintenance issues. The toilet was loose and wobbled every time we used it, and the shower handle was also loose and moved around when adjusting the water temperature. For a newer property, I expected these basic fixtures to be in better condition. The complimentary breakfast was a simple American-style breakfast with a few hot items, which was convenient but nothing particularly special. Overall, the hotel has great potential because it's clean and well maintained in general, but the maintenance issues in our room definitely affected our experience. Hopefully, management will address these problems soon, as this could easily be a 4 star stay with better attention to detail.

They made us feel right at home, which was a great way to start our stay. We booked a room with two queen beds, a fireplace, and a balcony. The lobby is nice, and the hotel has a spacious breakfast area along with an on-site restaurant. Our room was on the first floor, though, and the balcony overlooked someone's backyard, so we didn't really get to enjoy sitting outside. That was probably the biggest disappointment. The room itself was comfortable enough. The beds were decent, and it looked like some of the decor had been updated. The bathroom, however, could definitely use some work. There were patched areas on the walls, cracked baseboards, and it felt a little worn. The hallways could also use a refresh. The game room was a nice surprise. It had a pool table, ping pong, foosball, a few board games, and vending machines. There's also a small outdoor pool and jacuzzi, which looked like a nice place to relax. Breakfast was included and had a good variety of options, which we appreciated, especially on a busy holiday weekend. Overall, while parts of the hotel felt a little dated and even a bit creepy in places because of the older chateau style, we still enjoyed our stay. For the price we paid during one of the busiest weekends of the year, it was a good value. A few updates would make a big difference, but the excellent customer service and included breakfast definitely left a positive impression.

We didn't eat breakfast, although it is provided, but we did have dinner at Tiffany's. Dinner was great, with live entertainment. The hot tub is small, five person max, but the pool was nice, with several chairs around to relax. There is an outdoor bocci ball court. Inside is a game room with a pool table, foosball, air hockey, ping pong, checkers, and connect four. All free. Parking is free. Overall, nice place. There is plenty of lodging in Big Bear, but if you get an opportunity, I would try this place.

We called after booking to confirm reservation and make a request to be placed near each other. I called the evening before our stay, again, to request the rooms be situated near each other and was confirmed they had all 3 reservations (2 rooms on one reservation under my BIL and 1 room on a separate reservation under my husband). We make our 2hr drive up to Big Bear and upon checking-in (around 3pm), we're told they couldn't find either reservations! Here's the shady part: one of the female employee hears this, she steps in to take over. She proceeds to tell us that the reservations were not in their system, they have no means of altering the system therefore it couldn't inadvertently be cancelled, she was new but somehow gave the response that this has never happened before, and she continues to insist my husband and BIL contact their credit card and third party booking agency (in addition to Extra Holidays which has nothing to do with our reservation) to address the issue, despite us showing email proof of reservation and payment. No one more experienced or even a manager (who appeared to be standing behind this receptionist) stepped in to help this "new" worker. After about almost an hour of "there's nothing I could do on my end" excuses, and having had 3rd party booking confirmation, the receptionist confirmed that EVEN if we were to verify all of this, they had no rooms available for our party. Which was odd because we were early for check in. Later that day, my husband got on the phone with the 3rd party booking agency we used to get a refund, they called the hotel to confirm we didn't stay, and here's the UNETHICAL part: WorldMark confirmed with the agent that THEY CANCELLED our reservation!!! A quick Google search for reviews on this issue showed this has been a common practice of WorldMark. They over book rooms by up to 20% banking on cancellation. But if not, then they drop the paid reservations, often without any notice. This is completely shady and unethical greedy business practice. We were fortunate enough to only have a 2hr drive, but folks traveling from out of state or country would have had no other accommodations! Please be aware and DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH WORLDMARK. The employees know what's up and they do not care and will lie just to get you out of the way.
