I have been a loyal customer for decades and never had a problem. Today, however, I brought in…read morewinter boots I bought three months ago because they were damp inside. The young woman who came over was clearly poorly trained in customer service or else failed to gain the most basic customer service skills because she immediately suggested it was my fault for not waterproofing the boots. I showed her the tag on the boots which says "Waterproof." Then she said it was probably my sweaty feet. She did not examine the soles or seams because she didn't want to touch my "dirty boot." When I asked to see the manager and followed her to the office, she shooed me away, presumably because she didn't want me to hear what she was going to say. The manager offered store credit and I would have had to give my boots to her then and there. Leaving me to go home in my socks? I told her that I was a loyal customer for many years and had bought footwear from them when I could have got it cheaper online, but I like to support local businesses. I told her that she had lost a customer. Next time I'll try shoes on for fit and then order online for a better price and hassle-free returns/refunds. Some local businesses do not earn loyal customer support.

The store stocks a lovely selection of clothing, but my biggest complaint is the service by the sales staff. Since I visit the area frequently, I have been in this store many times over the years, and have had the same experience repeatedly. There are always at least two sales women in the store. When I walk in, they always turn their backs, and avert eye contact when I try to get their attention to engage them. It's very strange. The last time I was there, I walked in, tried on coats in different parts of the store, walked up to the jewelry counter, tried on necklaces in the mirror. I had a close encounter with a saleswoman who faced me, grabbing a jewelry piece for the one client that the two sales people were doting over. I raised my hand and opened my mouth to ask for help, but "whoosh" she turned around and left. I understand if people are too busy to wait on a new customer, but that was not the case here. The two sales women hung behind the counter as their one engaged customer was in the changing room. In several visits over the years to this store, this is the tack that they take. There is one customer who is fawned over, and the others ignored. It is a puzzling way to do business. My friend laughed when I told him the story, and said it was like a scene from the movie "Pretty Woman". Indeed I felt some resonance with Julia Robert's predicament at being dismissed by the snooty sales women on Rodeo drive. The difference, however: not only am I NOT a call girl- I presented there clean, neat, and appropriately dressed. It is too bad that the environment at the Zanna Boutique is so exclusive and off-putting. Eye contact, a greeting or an offer to help could make this a fun place to shop. Well why doesn't the darn flyer say that? They told me there was a half "outer page" on the flyer previously that stated what exactly the "early bird" special meant and when it ended. Problem is they also told me they purposely took it off "too end confusion". Well why doesn't the main flyer say anything about this limited time offer. It only states "Sale runs through 12/1/13".

I was immediately assisted by Joel, a very patient knowledgeable resource. He listened to me talk about the many ups and downs in my relationship with running; he even looked at my old running shoes while assessing me. He did thorough measurements and studied my gait; he than retreated to the store room and made a selection of the shoes he thought would be the best for me and my issues. I would recommend this store to anyone in the Berkshire area; it is above and beyond the best place to get a shoe. The Berkshire running center is truly a personalized experience UPDATE (9/2/2020) A few weeks after wearing my new running shoes the sole began falling apart, I contacted Berkshire running center and they allowed me to exchange those shoes for a completely different pair that would more satisfy my needs! I loved both the shoes and the bag, but the leather on the sneakers began shredding in a number of places and the locking mechanism on the travel bag fell off and disappeared. I went in just to let them know about the issues, hoping I might be able to get a new locking mechanism and suggestions of how to care for the shoes. They replaced both without being asked. A great store that stands by their products. It pays to shop local.

Normally my wife shops at the Lake George Outlet branch of their stores (they also have stores in…read moreVermont and Massachusetts) because the selection there is a little larger than our local Troy store, and there are so many other outlets to browse in. But the Troy store being closer to home can be utilized for picking up special order items or making exchanges. This saves a second drive to the north country. I recently changed my mind on some slippers that I had purchased at the Lake George location and brought them the next day to the Troy location to see what was available for an exchange. Staff were very helpful in identifying what I was looking for and I was able to immediately replace one pair of slippers while a second pair were located in their Manchester, VT store. Troy staff called Manchester and had them ship my order to the Troy store. The following day I received a phone message that the slippers had arrived from Manchester and were available for pickup. You can't beat service like that.

There were no other customers but the employees just seemed to be standing around, so they must have had no problem with it being like that? They ask you again and again, and again if you need any help, after I said no three times. I was simply just trying to look at the shoes and compare prices but they are extremely pushy like they just want you out of the store. Not to mention when you do get a moment to think they are slowly circling around you and staring at you, I'm guessing this is to make sure you aren't going to attempt to steal from them? For a place where everything is priced around 100-200 dollars I would expect better. Also didn't carry anything in my size, I was told we could order my shoe from another location and I would have to come back and pick it up.. but they sounded more annoyed and at this point I decided not to burden them any further with my presence.
