The Nature Trail was a pain in my ass but absolutely worth it; I came home sweaty, dirty, and itchy but still felt like a badass!
The Nature Trail is within O'Melveny Park and is near the entrance; you'll see signs for the trail right when you walk into the park. I love this trail because it is secluded and allowed us to explore on our own terms. The beginning of the trail is rock solid and clearly marked but the further you go the softer the dirt gets and the less clear the trail becomes.
We took the Nature Trail straight up and avoided all turnouts which might have led to other trails. We were hoping that the trail would lead up and around but it just died at the top of some rocks. We even went around the rocks in hopes of the trail continuing but had no luck, womp womp.
On the trail you'll see meadows, lovely flowers, houses, burnt wood from the fires, and even a creepy backyard with a collection of old cars. . . interesting I know!
Tips for going up top
Beware of bees, ticks, rattlesnakes, and coyotes.
The brush is high so wear pants if you plan on really exploring or you can go home scratching your legs and arms off.
Expect to get a little hot and bothered especially on a hot day since there isn't much shade on the trail.
Expect to get dirty. The dirt is so soft up top you'll end up sliding down the mountain and creating a dust storm. read more
