David, your response contains factual statements that are not accurate, and I have timestamped…read morecamera footage documenting the timeline. The installation did not take three days. The main installation began Monday and was essentially completed that same day. Two workers returned briefly Tuesday morning, after which you told me the project was finished and collected my final payment. You also previously told me that you returned Monday to check the work. I reviewed my camera footage and could find no evidence that you returned that day. Your statement that I "could not be bothered" is also false and insulting. I was working at my job. In fact, I interrupted a work meeting and went outside when I saw your crew accessing my underground sprinkler area. I hired you to manage this project and supervise your crew. I was not supposed to repeatedly leave my own job to supervise yours. As for your statement that I "expressed satisfaction at the final walkthrough," I took a quick look while I was between work meetings and, at first glance, the new pavers looked nice. That does not mean I accepted problems I had not yet had an opportunity to discover. You specifically gave me three days to inspect the completed work and report any problems. I reported the problems the very next day. What you also did not tell me when you collected my final payment was that you were about to leave for a week-long vacation. I learned that only after I contacted you about the problems I discovered. Your statement that every issue was addressed by your company is also not accurate. During the original installation, a sprinkler was damaged and my gardener repaired it. After you returned from vacation and moved the drain that had been installed in the wrong location, a second sprinkler line was damaged. I ultimately hired and paid my own sprinkler professional to repair that damage because, by that point, I no longer wanted you or your crew working on my property. There were also workmanship issues with the pavers, including the area around my custom-built catio, where the door was left jammed and unable to open properly, poorly cut pavers, and an area that was not flat or level. My backyard was left with sand everywhere, construction debris, dug-up grass and even the crew's lunch trash. I stand by my review and my description of my experience. I have photographs, messages and timestamped camera footage documenting both the condition of my property and the timeline described above.

A recent update. I've once again seen M&R staff throwing their trash behind our property. This…read moreincludes plastic water bottles. I've posted a photo in this review update... Also yesterday, for no reason, they cut a small tree down behind our house, that we planted there four years ago. M&R were not authorized to do this. They will now need to replace that tree they removed or reimburse us for the cost. At the same time, they refuse to remove burned trees on association property, left over from a brush fire in 2006. The way they "manage" the slopes surrounding our property is by weed-wacking the entire slope, all the way down to the ground. Then rather than raking up and dispose of the weeds, they just leave the debris on the hillside, so that it seeds the hill with more weeds. It also leaves dead weed material surrounding our house to blow around during Santa Ana winds and to become fuel for fires. I frequently have had to go behind our house to remove tumbleweeds and other debris, which they should've removed. That is after-all what they are being paid for. Sadly, I cannot recommend M&R to anyone, but especially not for large developments or HOA's.

I had some issues with surrounding plants in the common area of my property and actually spoke to the owner, Ron and asked him if they can clean up some of the overlapping landscape. He was very nice about it and the next day sent a few guys over to clean up what I asked. Ron and his guys are so responsive, very pleasant to deal with, and easy going. Really appreciate their attention to detail and how friendly they are towards the residents here. They do such a great job with keeping our community looking great. We are lucky to have them serve our community. Thanks Ron!

It was always a dream of ours to own a pool. After having gotten quotes and design ideas from a few…read moredifferent pool contractors and construction outfits, we were left feeling as if our dream would never be fully realized. None of the mockups we were shown looked aesthetically-pleasing or felt like they were "us." All that changed when we contacted Swink's Creations. From the moment we met Mark, he seemed to understand what we were after, taking into consideration our needs (handicap-accessible) and specific desires (baja shelf, water feature, free-form pool shape). Chris helped us choose tile, rock and concrete that would best compliment our existing backyard and porch, and Blaise was instrumental in making sure everything was to our specifications, from the placement of handrails to depth of the shelf, and bringing things to code in terms of updating gates and fences. Cesar was our point of contact throughout the process, and he kept us updated every step of the way, so we never had to wonder where we were at in the project. Any questions we had were answered promptly. The team operated quickly and efficiently, and cleaned up after each day's work was completed. They treated our property like it was their own. Angel, Renee, Angela and everyone in the Swink's office were professional and welcoming, and we really felt taken care of. The project was started in mid-August and we were enjoying our gorgeous hot tub, pool and fire pit by Veteran's Day; at least a month ahead of schedule! We just cannot recommend Swink's Creations highly enough. Their prices are somewhat higher than most of their competitors, but the care with which they work and custom beauty they bring to their projects is worth the cost.

But swinks responsiveness and professionalism gave them the edge. They worked with me and my limited budget. What lead me to Swinks: I tried to take shortcuts to save money by using local gardeners but ended up getting the short end of the stick. The local gardener I used was one that my neighbors use for their weekly maintenance. The guy talked a long game but in the end lied and cheated. The moral of the story: Hire a professional the first time you'll end up saving money!

Services: They quoted us with a job completion within 4 weeks. However, they took over 8 weeks to complete everything. It was okay in our case since we were not in a hurry. They did do an excellent job replacing the grass area. They didn't do a good job on the DG paved walk way, it's already cracks and when we told them about the crack, their responses is that's how it is and we can try to rake it. One last thing, they broke our electrical outlet cover. We told them about it, but they never come back to fix it. Plants: we told them that we would like to reuse some of our plants and that they would provide additional California native drought tolerant plants. We were not happy with what they provided. We paid them around $12k for the entire project and it's a lot of money. So it would be ideal if they could at least given us 5gal plants considering we are also reusing some of our plants already. Instead....We were given plants, but they were the ground cover types. they were so small, you can't see them. The mulch is covering everything because the plants were so small. They were like those small plants you get at home depot for 5 bucks. Honestly, we could have gotten the plants ourselves. And when we asked about the plants, they said the plants will grow. Yes, but it's not going to be big in like 3 years with the types of plants they gave us. They should have consulted with us on the plants they planned to provide or offer to switch out any plants we are not happy with. And because the contractor excavated our plants and let them sit out for a couples of week, they don't look very good when they were being replanted.
